I have a friend who gives this book as a gift at any wedding or to any homes she sells to new buyers. It is great and now I follow her path. It contains many cute ideas to make expensive looking gifts at cost, as well as basics for the kitchen. It has salad dressing recipes as well as dip mix recipes I find very handy, among other attributes.

I think I am one of the first to receive the Mable White Dot Com Books, years ago, and to catch the Web Site, when learning to make homemade soaps. I could not have asked for a more pleasant experience. And what makes it even more fun, when questions arise, communication is wonderful. Have created soooo much and had sooo much fun doing it! Great Site!!!! Keep Up the Good Work!!!!

By far one of the best cookbooks I have ever used. My dinner guests think I'm a star when I use it. I know the author, have been privileged to take cooking lessons from her. She is talented, a great conversationalist and wonderful teacher. The recipes are some of the best recipes I have ever tried from the first course down to the dessert. Easy, yet elegant when you need elegance and homey when you need comfort food. And you don't have to go to a specialty store to find the ingredients. It's a gotta have, and don't forget her second cookbook, "My Favorite Cookbook Too".

This really IS my favorite cookbook!

I have a shelf full of cookbooks but this really IS my favorite one!! It is loaded with wonderful but easy recipes that actually "turn out" right (on the first try). And the recipes are not for the same old boring things but contain interesting and unique combinations of ingredients that are just delicious! (My Favorite Cookbood Too is also great!)

This is a "must have" in the kitchen! I love all the old world recipes. Many of the dishes are simple to make, but taste like you've slaved for hours. The author personalizes each recipe with a story about it, which makes the dishes even more interesting.

If you enjoy French, Italian, Spanish and Moroccan cuisine, then you will LOVE this cookbook! The recipes are easy to follow and you can find the ingredients at your local supermarket. It's definitely MY favorite cookbook!
p.s. I also bought her other book, "My Favorite Cookbook, Too". I think this sequel is just as good as the first.

A surprise-package of superior recipes, using fresh regional ingredients. Even in a land-locked city, these recipes work. Frequently, a simple twist - imagined by a seasoned chef - lofts standard foods to mouth-watering levels. Once discovered, this book will be treasured.

I especially enjoyed this cookbook with some of the most creative yet simple recipes, from the premier restaurants, resorts and luxury hotels. Rarely do you get a "who's who" of chefs providing the most delicious recipes in one cookbook. This cookbook gives one the opportunity to test his/her culinary skills and impress those coming together to enjoy good food. I can't wait try the recipes and enjoy the outcomes with family and friends.

An outstanding cookbook, one I refer to often for casual dining and entertaining. Emphasis is on seafood, poultry and pasta. Most of the recipes are provided by the most highly regarded chefs from Florida's finest restuarants and resorts. If you love cooking (and great eating) you will love this book. I bought two in Williams-Sonoma since I knew my sister would "borrow" one. (About 80% of the recipes are relatively easy, 20% are slightly more difficult. All are excellent!)

Every now and then you come across a special cookbook. This is my bible of cookbooks. I refuse to let it out of my sight! Keep in mind that these are restaurant recipes, so you might need to cut the ingredients in half. Everything is pretty easy and does not extend futher than basic cooking skills. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I don't care for cookbooks that are filled with recipes that are too difficult, or calling for ingredients I rarely used.

The Special Taste of Florida was recommended by a friend in Colorado who owns a condominium in Florida. I have in turn recommended the book to a number of other friends throughout the country. This is a indeed a special book.

Of the 400 recipes in the book, I would say 75% are absolutely outstanding..easy to prepare with wonderful taste. With over 200 cookbooks in my collection I would put this one in the top ten without hesitation.

I've been a vegetarian for over 10 years, but my husband is not. This book is great even for the non-vegetarian. There are great pictures, easy instructions, and very unique recipes I haven't seen anywhere else. There aren't just pictures of the end result, but there are pictures of the process also (which is where I often get confused while cooking), so you can be an inexperienced chef, but still create gourmet meals.

You make pretty much everything from scratch, which is so healthy and it's also a lot of fun. If you buy one recipe book, this should be it.

This book gets more use than any other cookbook in our extensive collection, and we aren't even vegetarians, we just wanted to eat healthier. As a matter of fact, I'm making the Leek Souffle tonight, and I used the hummus recipe for a party.

The photographs make the food look so good that you're eager to try out the recipes, which are all fairly easy to make. The ingredients are fairly simple and easy to find at the grocery store.

So many of these recipes have become regulars on our menus. The baked eggs with leeks are a great lunch or breakfast, and I've made it so often, I don't even need to look at the book anymore. The vegetable pilau is a favorite, too. We've even used tabs on this book so we can hit our favorites easily (we have about 12 tabs in the book so far).

If you buy no other cookbook, buy this one. I can't believe how impressed we are with this book!!!

This cookbook lives up to it's title!

This book was given to me as a gift. I have tried many recipes from it, and all were delicious, not too difficult, and made with available ingredients. The instructions are presented in numbered steps, making it very easy to follow. What I liked best is the fact that every recipe includes color photos of the preparation process and the completed dish!

I have just recently become a vegetarian and this cookbook was bought for me as a gift. The recipes are very clear with plenty of pictures and handy tips. I now know how to sundry my own tomatoes and who knew you could substitute natural peanut butter for sesame tahini when making hummus. The Fried Noodles with bean sprouts and asparagus is one of my favorites. For a new vegetarian, like myself, I needed a cookbook that was not intimedating or that didn't include exotic ingredients. This is a perfect collection of delicious recipes.

Another one of their books I have read took a lot of research as did this one and also involves and helps Vets, gotta love a true American who loves his food. What can you say about a recipe with the words "Between Wives" in it. How True!

It is so lucious, and painfully easy, that my family insists we have it for Christmas morning!! It's just not Christmas without it!! This certainly not the be all and end all of vegetarian cooking (I am an omnivore) - indeed many things Delia sees as suitable for vegetarians apparently must all contain cheese of some sort; that can get a little tedious at times I must admit! And what about vegans?

That said, for dealing with basic vegetables and some interesting accompaniments for meats or for enjoying alone, I think nobody should be without this book in their library. Wonderfully illustrated with clear, concise instructions. Highly recommended, as are all of Delia Smith's cookery books.

This is the one that you should really own above all others. Being of English stock, I was brought up with Delia all my life. to be short and sweet, the recipes are inspiring easy and very tatsty. I am not a vegetarian but would be more than happy to make most of these recipes for myself.
If you really want to cook something that is different from your average American recipes, this is the one to buy.

Well worth paying the extra money for.

While this was not my first vegetarian cookbook, it does rate among my favourites - for those nights when I have a bit of spare time on my hands.

The book itself is beautiful, with a solid hardbound cover, thick smooth pages, and absolutely gorgeous photography. The pages are crisp and vibrant, and the design is elegant and reader-friendly. The makers of this edition had an eye for quality and for readability.

The food is in keeping with the care put into designing this book. I've prepared quite a few of the recipes therein and have had fantastic results - and I'm no gourmet chef. The food is incredible. The only cautions I would give are as follows: (a) it's not an everyday cookbook... some recipes are complex, and some take quite a bit of time and patience to prepare; (b) some of the ingredients are a bit rare, or don't translate well from UK to Canadian terms; and (c) there is no nutritional information accompanying the recipes - but looking at the ingredients suggests an overall moderate to high fat content.

That said, the recipes are more than worth the time and effort. And we all need a little sweet in our diets. You do, however, have to enjoy cooking to fully appreciate this book.

A final disclaimer: this book is ovo-lacto-vegetarian, and uses eggs, milk and cheese in a good number of its recipes.

It is hard to find a book on this Powerful and Ancient Goddess of the Crossroads, the keyholder, who travels at night with her hounds. I recommend this book to all who want to know more about and the modern experiences of others with Hekate. The book is refreshing and honest in approach. I enjoyed not reading suppositions on fragments of history or the overly *sweet* impressions of Hekate dancing with fairies. I found the personal write-ups to be about real people, candidly told without frills. With the plethora of 'How-to' books on the market, its nice to have a book that talks from the first person and relates the all too human moments of revelation. Kudos Greg!

While any work with a deity is personal, to read other people's experiences with Hekate is both interesting, and eye opening. If you're a "Hekatite" this book can only reafirm your faith in her, and the amount of respect that she is due.

You begin to undertsand that you are not the only one who goes through certain things with Hekate, that she will teach, and she will punish (If sometimes to teach). I'm sure now I'll get someone telling me that I'm going to go to hell, but this book was an amaizng insight for me.

Interesting Insights

Review Date: 2007-02-13
This book is interesting. Its an interesting concept. The contemporary photographs and artwork presented therein is interesting. The historical introduction is interesting. The essays, written by people who have experience of working with the Goddess Hekate is interesting. The all too sparse section III of this book with practical information, including invocations and recipes, is interesting.

In fact, this book is so interesting that I am at a loss to describe it. The insights provided through the personal essays are priceless. To be let into the personal experiences of people with first hand experience is an honour. With Hekate all the more so. The stories included such as Sue Bowman's life changing experiences following her attending a public ceremony honouring Hekate, the very practical and down to earth advice from Iris, the glimpses into a world unknown to so many who have no access to groups are fantastic.

Personally I feel that this book would benefit both those interested in Hekate, as well as those who have an interest in Paganism, Witchcraft or Wicca. This book has something for everyone.

This cookbook is a marvel--it is far and away my favorite cookbook. I turn to it for every event, and it contains all my family's favorite dishes. One note, however, follow the recipies closely! Omitting or changing any ingredient really alters things substantially (I don't like olives and left them out of a dish and it truly sufferred for it. When I made it again, I added the olives and it is now a favorite!) This book is an excellent gift idea.

For nearly eight years now, I have used these cookbooks for every family gathering, cocktail party and family meal. My love of cooking was stimulated by the recipes provided in these books which are both easy to follow and delicious. I have not yet found one recipe I didn't enjoy after preparation. Noteworthy is well organized and has sections of great photographs to entice you to select one of it's great dishes. You will dazzle your guests with the wonderful combinations and not feel like you had to try to hard. These books are among my favorite possessions, I'd be lost without them. You'll not be disappointed...ENJOY!
