I enjoyed this book for several reasons. Although there are other multicultural cookbooks around, I enjoyed the way Ms. Braman was able to combine the historical and cultural facts as well as the recipes. "Cooking Up Some History" provides information such as how the ice cream soda was invented back in 1874. "Culture Link" discusses information such as how the people in Denmark make a rice pudding that is eaten at the end of Christmas dinner. In addition, she added "Tasty Tidbits" and "What's In A Name?" that further provides information about the countries and their foods. Ms. Braman's writing style flows well, the book is easy to read and the recipes are written so that children will be able to make them with minimal help from an adult. I would recommend this "tasty" book to anyone, child or adult, who enjoys cooking/historical facts.

This neat cook book for kids is filled with interesting recipes from around the world and is loaded with historical information about the cultures featured in the book and their foods. Want to know how the hot dog got it's name or when people first enjoyed an ice cream soda? Well, it's in this book. I've already tried a number of recipes including the nutmeg cookies from Norway, the potjiekos from South Africa, and the coconut bread from Jamaica. All were delicious! I would recommend this book to teachers, parents and kids who love to learn about different cultures through cooking. A great way to inspire youngsters and pass along a love of cooking!

I gave this to my first grader for the holidays, and he has been glued to it for the past several months. He loves learning about all of the cultures and talking with his foodie parents about cooking. A picky eater who is trying to change his ways, he now wants to try several of the recipes after we successfully made the mac and cheese (which was delicious).

Bob Skilnik's book not only gives the lowdown on low carb, but it gives drink recipes that even I, a non-bartender, can follow. Now when I have a party, I can impress my friends with drinks that range from the old standbys to ones they've never heard of--all of which taste great! And for those friends watching their carbs, they're grateful to boot.
The Low Carb Bartender is a book that pulls no punches and gives it to us straight--or on the rocks.

Bob Skilniks' book includes all the info you'll ever need for drinking low-carb. After being on a low carb diet for over a year there is finally a book that specifically tells you the carb count in the all the beers, alcohols, wines, liqueurs, etc. from A-Z.
The book also includes recipes for lc simple syrup, irish cream, etc. as well as many mixed drink recipes.
A lot of time and research went into this book and it's definitely worth its low price. I am so pleased with the book that I ordered four more for Christmas gifts.

As the author, I welcome everyone to use the information in the book to watch those pesky carbs and use the 200 mixed-drink recipes as a springboard for further creative experimentation. With the carbohydrate counts for over 1000 beer, 400 wines, 60 liqueuers and liquors at your hand, the information is here for anyone to become a Low Carb Bartender too!
Whether you're on Atkins, South Beach, Protein Power...or any carb-centric diet, there's something in this book for you. Just remember---moderation, not deprivation!

I received this book for my wedding and I will admit that at first I thought it was from the dollar store, so I didn't give it much credit. It sat on my shelf unused for some time. When I was searching for recipes that were good but not overly expensive I opened this book and was delighted by the categories! There are not only main dish, side dish, salads/soups, and the norm but there is also cooking for two, meals in minutes and most memorable meals! One of our favorite meals is Turkey Divan w/garlic pasta, it my sound hard and rich but it is sooo simple (done in 30 minutes)! I now use this book regularly!
Wonderful.

These recipes are wonderful, as well as the color photos. I lived in Spain for 4 years, and although I never really used a cookbook, this one is really great. It is totally authentic, from the fabada to the cocido. I used to make fabada every week in winter, and it is just like mine. If you want to learn how to make authentic Spanish food, you should buy this book.

I have subscribed to Taste of Home for a couple of years and got their annual cookbook this year. I love Taste of Home because their recipes are real, reasonable, and doable. Their editors are real mothers who have jobs and families and lives outside of the kitchen. So many cookbooks require insane ingredients that I don't know how to pronounce, deal with, or even where to purchase them. Others require forever to prepare their recipes. Taste of Home is a wonderful, realistic gathering of recipes that I love to us in my home and with my family.

This is another of Linda's wonderful cookbooks. She hits the mark with saving time, something that all of us need to do in our hectic world, yet still creating delicious recipes.
I have followed Linda's website, [...], for years. It's great to have a lot of her recipes in a printed form (please, About, publish another one!!).
Some highlights of this book in a nutshell: Every margin has incredibly useful tips and information that are related to the adjacent recipe. She includes some pertinent questions (perhaps from her web readers?) and answers as well. My favorite recipes include the Gourmet Grilled Cheese, Norwegian Toast (like biscotti - heaven with coffee in the morning!), Carmelized Onion Dip (started in the slow cooker), Freezer Waffles (the kids love 'em--I even sneak in a little wheat germ), and the Grilled Seafood pizza which is a hit with my Bunco friends. All of them are very quick and Linda knows just where to cut corners on time, never sacrificing flavor. I can't wait to try more of these recipes. Meanwhile, I will stayed tuned to her website!!
Don't miss the back of the book with Linda's recommendations for her favorite websites and cookbooks.
