Good representative book on Forest Green Glass

As a casual collector of Anchor Hocking forest green glass over 30 years, this was my first ever book I'd ever gotten (or seen) dedicated to my favorite type of glass. I was thrilled to see that nearly everything I had was represented and it gave me better background about the items. I used it that very weekend to recognize a small green vase I would otherwise have not known was anchor hocking (had gold paint on it). But don't use the prices as indications of the real value of the items, unless maybe yours are new-never-used still in original boxes. you couldn't sell your collection fo the prices listed I don't believe -- I'm still picking them up for just a few dollars at "junk" stores, and yard sales. And ebay items are never over $10.

Colonel Hopper does it again!

In Forest Green Glass, Philip L. Hopper has once again teamed up with photographer Bruce Walters to produce a well-researched and stunningly beautiful book on Anchor Hocking glassware. The documentation is meticulous, and includes copies of old factory sheets, batch formulas for Anchor Hocking's green glass, and a section on confusing similarities. Besides precise research, Hopper's captions clearly identify each piece of glassware, it's measurements or dimensions, the factory's stock number, and an estimated value for the piece. Since there are only a few items per picture, the reader gets an enlarged view of each and every piece of glassware, and doesn't have to flip back and forth to find out what it is. Combine the thorough research with Bruce Walter's creativity, and technique of underlighting colored glass, and you have one gorgeous publication. A 21 gun salute for the Colonel and his cohort!

I read this book last Thanksgiving and absolutely loved it!!! The twists and turns, the romance was subtle, which I liked and loved the Christmas scenes that Billie experienced. I enjoyed the pro football aspect, as my dad was an NFL Official for many years. This is a book I would highly recommend.

A Riveting Book!!!!

I loved this book! The story was very intense, I couldn't put it down!

The story follows Billie Murphy, a full-time public relations representative with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. She's put on a job with Blalock Industries to help them find land for their new business. She meets one of the men with the company, and she will never be the same.

Behind the scenes of the Global Football League, GFL, is a huge plot of fraud and deceit. Little does Billie know quite how involved she is.

Like I said before, I loved this book. It's a great mystery, and kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last page.

GREAT FOR WARM-UP ACTIVITIES

Although I teach high school (intro to algebra), I have many remedial and low-achieving students. I bought this book, worried it would be too elementary for my students. I have found it very useful in my classroom. I have used the lessons on overheads for 5-minute warm-ups at the beginning of class. The cartoon graphics are not too young for my high school freshmen and sophomores. The exercises have been challenging for my lower achieving students, and provide good review for the higher achievers. I am back at this site to order other books by the same author/publisher.

This book is a useful guide to developing a friendship with Christ... it outlines the traditional path spiritual writers have written about for centuries, including St. John of the Cross, but applies it to a modern life and understanding.

I read a few lines of this book, daily, for a few weeks. And my life was changing with it. It seems it's out of order and I left it in the distant Uganda without finishing it. Please reprint it if possible. It's a book that walks along with you in the search of the religious sense. It's a good help if you're not yet able to walk alone by yourself.

The author searches out scripture verses and he reflects on these verses, tells his experiences and help me to find meaning in those verses. Being sick is a journey of unknown duration and such a process cannot and may not be hurried. I really encourage people to memorize scripture verses on healing and this book help that. I'm buying this book for five different people:from friends in suffering to doctors.

I fail to realize why this book is not used more by chaplains and caregivers who help the sick. It contains prayers from the ages, and helps to describe the way prayer and faith speed the healing process.

This book is an advantageous read for environmentalists for three reasons. It offers a unique and thorough history of corporate environmental philosophies and policies. Two, the anecdotes used are interesting and well places to break up the dense but important case study research which is poignant and astonishing. Third, it is possibly the most comprehensive source for this information in under 300 pages.

Unique subject and a good read

Through case studies and research, the author gives us a peephole into the way that corporations have thought about and incorporated environmentalism into their business structures. I've been involved in environmental issues for many years, but these insights and perspectives are new to me. For any environmentalist who's interested in figuring out how to create change and gain the attention of corporate officers, it's a must.

Although there's some pretty dense organizational analysis in the middle that not everyone might want to read, the first and third chapters use analogies and plain language to convey both the major themes and a sense of story.

Interesting Techniques for Conservation Professionals
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2005-11-04
As a conservation finance professional, I navigate and package financing options for land and water protection interests on a daily basis.

This book has stretched my thinking and added many techniques to the list of possibilities - it also focuses on the private market - the business - of land conservation.

Population growth and development further drive efforts to hold on to our natural and cultural identity. This book goes a long way in strengthening those efforts.

In addition, the editor blends history and financing techniques in an interesting and insightful manner.

A premise of this useful and provocative new book is that, as important as the achievements of land conservationists have been over a century or more (from Yosemite to the local bike path), much more land needs protection if we're ultimately going to "save the planet" (or something short of that). Further, editor Jim Levitt and his varied contributors know that today's political economy has changed dramatically, that the flow of capital, the power of markets, and the availability of new financial instruments have created whole new opportunities for those pragmatists and visionaries who "love the land" and want to protect it.

While the historical sweep of From Walden to Wall Street (extending from the Boston Common in the 1630s to Theodore Roosevelt and beyond) is fascinating, it is only the beginning. This is not just that usual tales of great wide open spaces courageous protected from rapacious developers. (Who could object to that?) Rather, this small volume serves as both inspiration and -- more importantly -- a road map to some of the new pathways to financing the protection of special natural and cultural lands in the 21 century.

Levitt, himself a former private sector management consultant, and his co-authors provide examples of and guidance on the most important emerging land conservation techniques. They offer an array of new perspectives - from a World Bank veteran, a corporate forester, and nonprofit entrepreneurs, among others - on the new world of land protection in America: innovative transactions that will utilize resolving loans, tax credits, limited development, carbon sequestration credits, and conservation banking.

I suspect that the leaders in land conservation - today and in the years to come - will know this important addition to the conservation literature.

Cindy K. Green has a wonderful writing voice. Her characters are so wonderful, you just ache for them to get together and I appreciate that everything is on the sweet side of the romance scale. This one is a keeper.

I read this straight through one Sunday, which definitely makes it a page turner. Kari is unsure of her lovability. Randy, a gorgeous pastor, in his own way, is of unsure of himself, too. This is a story of two totally engaging people with obstacles to overcome along the road to discovering their mutual love of each other. You're batting for them from the off. I would be the first in the queue for a sequel.

The Gardens of Colonial Williamsburg is a most inspiring and beautiful book covering the four seasons in Colonial Williamsburg. This book covers not only the history of twenty gardens in the historic district, but who these eighteenth century garders were. The archaeological research provides a detailed look at each of the gardens, giving layout plans and detailed list of all the plants used. With the addition of beautiful color photography, this book will provide all gardeners with a source to re-create a eighteenth century garden.

Best book for geometric tolerancing

This is the best book on the market. I have bought other books in the past but found them of little use. I am a freelance draftsman and to be honest I never really understood geometric tolerancing, I even know of other draftsmen who bluff or copy the tolerances from previously made drawings. Not any more, in fact the book was so clear that I can even spot mistakes on other peoples drawings. The only down side to the book is that I didn't have it ten years ago.
