I borrowed this book and enjoyed it so much I have to buy it for myself! The Cherry Amaretto Preserves caught my eye first. Then I spotted the Honeyed Lemon Poppy Seed Jelly. The chapter on making your own beauty products includes some wonderful herbal shampoos and easy hand creams and lip balm! Other than stocking up on essential oils, these are made from ingredients you'll have around the house. And they use modern methods for old fashioned results. Delightful!

Button and Tiny is a very good book. Button and Tiny are mushrooms. They find something while working on their garden. Spud, someone else from the Munch Bunch pulls it out, but he takes it away from Button and Tiny. Later, while running away from Button and Tiny,he trips over Proffesor Peabody's feet, who gives the mushrooms back their thing, and finds another thing in their garden that is connected to the first one.

Love the Storey Country Wisdom Bulletins. These are great because they are inexpensive and they offer basic useable information that most people can use. Which is more than I can say for some of the more expensive books I have bought. This Bulletin shows how you can either build under home or separate cold storage cellars for year round food storage. As well as using in ground units made from garbage cans with lids to old wooden barrels laid on their sides. As well as Pits and trenches which we have actually used for storing root crops. They also have a section beginning on page 20 where they list alot of vegetables and the best storage method. Beginning on page 26 they list the storage life expectancies of various vegetables. They also wisely caution to NOT store canned goods in cold storage areas.

A "MUST HAVE" for any Botanical Art Enthusiast or Artist
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 9 total.

This book, illustrated by Marilena Pistoia, is an invaluable addition to the library of botanical artists or lovers of botanical art. There are 110 paintings depicting 400 plants, fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices...all beautifully painted and reproduced. Some of the fruits are so realistic they almost make your mouth water.

The composition and combinations of the fruits and vegetables used in the individual paintings is very imaginative and complimentary in shape, form and colors.

I bought it for the illustrations but the text is very interesting and informative as well, often giving little know facts about the edible plants in our world. It is not a science book...the entertaining text is the perfect compliment to the beauty of the highly accurate and colorful representations of the paintings.

This book is absolutely wonderful. It contains everything I could possibly want to know about growing foods to eat! I have other reference books but this is the only one in which I can always find my subject matter. The additional cooking receipes is an added bonus - particularly with a glut of lettuce at this moment!

I can not recommend this book highly enough - well worth every penny! AND... Amazon price was good and delivery was swift.

many thanks and well done.

Dear Ms.

I helped Charolette Pritt for West Virginia governor, May 1996. I've followed a noticed daily welfare, state & national idea beginning with state food stamps and doing daily computer entry for the past 2 1/2 to 3 years. During June 20, 1997 was the first premier of, Batman & Robin as I went the first day. I began my internet search after the Presidental election, and I also met, Adam West as, Batman, 1973.

Fabulous what-to-do guide to all those veggies!
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 1999-07-20
Usually being a meat and potatoes kind of a person, I never gave much thought to my veggies like I should. I always thought they were boring. Not until I purchased this book. Curtis Aikens makes tremendous strides in making vegetables the "all" important part of your meal, and sometimes, they are the meal. Not only does he explain the particular vegetable in detail, he gives you simple, easy and delicious recipes. Thanks to Curtis, I can now eat my veggies and like them! Bravo, Curtis!
