Golf Books

I enjoyed this great collection of golf stories. One would have to buy dozens of books to have access to these wonderfully written pieces otherwise. Conveniently organized into different categories for easy reference. This book takes you back into some of golf's greatest historical writing as well as a taste of some of the best contemporary work. I'd strongly recommend adding this gem to your library.

This is one of a series of books published by teNeues that are really idea books on how the best of things are being designed right now. The hotels described here are not the normal Motel 6's in either amenities, or (I suspect) room rate. They range across the world from Europe to Asia, South Africa, and both North and South America.

Golf is featured at all of these places, but the non-golfer would not find himself out of place visiting any of them. They all have every feature you could possibly expect of a Luxury Hotel. These hotels offer a lot more than simply a place to put ones head down for the night.

The book is of large format, profusely illustrated with color photographs and printed using a very high quality printing process on very good paper. Anyone looking to design such a hotel, or even looking for a high end business entertaining location can find a lot of good inspiration in this book.

and fun story idea. Great as a stocking stuffer or a present to a small child.

This is an engaging and entertaining survey of the golf courses in Maine. As with any subjective gathering, there are bound to be differences of opinion, but for anyone interested in Maine golf, this is required reading. Also check out their review of golf courses in New Hampshire, which is equally useful.

John Feinstein gives us a glimpse into the people who make up the PGA Tour by following a variety of the golfers in their pursuit of a major championship during the 1998 PGA Tour season. Any true lover of the game will find his enjoyment of following the Tour greatly enhanced by this look into the personalities of many of the PGA's top stars and lesser known players. Couples, Love, Duval, Daly, Stewart and many more will be more than just names and faces that you watch on TV each Sunday afternoon, they will become real life heroes not simply because of the game they play but because of the people they are. You will gain respect and admiration for many of the players and the PGA Tour as a whole in this wonderful journey in pursuit of "the holy grail'.

This is a great read from one of the players themselves at the time. So, he's no Trevino or Palmer. Frank was a solid player (11 regular Tour wins, I think) during his regular Tour years and has proven himself admirably behind the mike for years with ESPN. He's a stand-up guy who tells it like it is.

If you want to know what it's like inside the ropes with the over 50 Tour set, read this book. But start first with Pro, the first book Frank wrote in 1970 with Dick Schaap.

I'm not really a watch collector or WIS (watch idiot savant as some watch collectors refer to themselves), but I loved this book! Unlike just about every other watch book I've seen, it's _not_ just a catalog of different watch models with short descriptions. It's really well written, with prose worthy of the New Yorker. It does an excellent job of telling the history of watches, with the author's personal anecdotes integrated into the story. If I had the money, I'd enjoy collecting watches, but this book is an enjoyable read in and of itself.

It should be named something like the "Essential Math Reference Book for Farmers, Landscapers, Golf Course Superintendants, Nursery Managers etc." What a wonderful and easy to use reference book for anyone dealing with the frustrating world of area measurements, volume/fertilizer/pesticide/irrigation/seeding rate calculations, and spreader and spayer calibration. I've worn out one copy and am on my second. I use it on my farm, at work as a pesticides applicator, and in my landscaping business. This is a must-have book for folks like me that hate math but have to use it almost everyday....believe me your money won't be wasted on this one and it won't just collect dust on your shelf.

It's punchy, to the point, and hits the nail on the head when it comes to peak performance. The book is applicable to all facets of life. It's a great tool. I am a director of a team of over 100 individuals; it has really helped me AND I don't even play golf!

an understanding of the various ways that masters from different eras viewed the golf swing. a must for anyone trying to figure out this game, especially instructors. not a bore.....
