Hit it Farther/NO back pain
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2001-07-17
I had a back problem, and my physical therapist suggested I try the Core Golf program. I had a big exercise ball at home, so I plugged in the video and away I went. Easy to follow, routines are challenging but I could do them with some effort. After 2 weeks of following the video program, my back was noticably better walking and carrying, and I was hitting the ball a little further with my driver(I suspect from being able to hold the correct mechanical position referred to in the book/video). The book is really good because for the first time I understood the back and ab muscles I use in the golf swing. Now, 4 weeks later I am playing totally pain free with more distance. Also, I feel more solid over the ball when I step up, and that helped my confidence. Good program, on average I spend 5-6 minutes per day with this, so a little has good benefit.

Book is an inadequate description. I like the term manuscript. Lately I've been having a problem with my neck--Dr. Golf has an answer.Sometimes I have a problem with my soul--Dr. Golf has an answer. The ultimate endeavor will survive the latest aberations of hype. Dr. Golf must continue to publish.

From the back cover: Wayward shots not only ruin your scorecard but also play havoc with your mental state. This book pinpoints the major causes of hooking and slicing and gives you the knowledge to recognize and correct these destructive and frustrating faults yourself -- even in the middle of a competitive round. An informative and comprehensive collection of equipment stats. I enjoyed comparing what non-paid amateurs use versus paid professionals. The consumer info is categorized by handicap levels, which helps to show the best equipment for different kind of players. Well done.

Thank God someone compiled this info -- really good stuff. The most interesting part is the vast amount of Tour information re: specific models. I also like the fact that the Consumer stats are broken down so many different ways (by age, handicap, etc.)

Great help in building my own range.
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 2004-11-09
This is the best book out there on how to build a golf driving range. It is the only book available about golf ranges written by actual owners. It tells you what makes a good location, how to do your own market study, the best design, the cost to build, and what equipment you will need. This book saved me from making a lot of mistakes and thousands of dollars. Plus, the writers will even spend time with you on the phone to answer any questions you may have. Highly recommended if you are even thinking about getting into the range business.

Great resource for anyone who plays golf or knows a golfer.
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 1998-07-30
I purchased Dictionary for Golfers as a birthday gift for my husband. He is a long-time golfer, has a 9 handicap he is quite proud of. He loved the book for many reasons: it is concise, it contains most of the words or phrases used by golfers everywhere, the art-work is simple, and it cleared up some definitions for him. The definitions are easy to understand, so is suitable for golfers of all ages. Also, my husband was pleased to see that it was written with the support of the USGA. This convinced him that the book was written by someone who has the experience and know-how. He has many books about golf, but this is now one of his favorites. I would recommend Dictionary for Golfers to anyone who plays golf or knows someone who plays golf. Great gift, and priced right!!

The most beautiful authority on golf in the HawaiianIslands.
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 1999-06-30
I just finished reading this book and admiring the photographs and am inspired to get back to the Hawaiian Islands as soon as possible. The obvious knowledge and expertise of the author is a boon to the rest of us who struggle to perfect our game. Hawaii has always been one of my favorite golfing vacation locations, now I am reminded why. The course descriptions and photography are simply incredible. Just about the time I thought I wanted to return, I now find I am driven back. The photos are fabulous and the detail given on the courses with information from the architechs makes them even more enjoyable and challenging. I look forward to my next trip to golf in Hawaii and definitely with this book by my side as my guide.
