Let's see, you take one caddy from New Zealand who dropped out of high school, add an unknown business / political writer from New Zealand and you get one of the most powerful sports psychology books ever written. Yeah, that makes sense.

I don't know what I was expecting when I bought the book, but I certainly was not expecting to be writing a tribute.

I was stunned not only at the content but also the delivery. Although this book is written in a way to be assimilated by just about anyone, the value of the content in this book will be appreciated more by those who understand the importance and the difficulty of being able to construct the condition of lasing mental activities needed to ensure the success of each shot under tournament pressure.

I suppose that a downside might be that those who are not already familiar with the value of meditation (essentially those who would stand to benefit the most from this book) could easily overlook some of the most important, but subtle, threads in the focus of this work. So, for the highest level of reader satisfaction, I would strongly endorse: a love of golf, an appreciation for the benefits of meditation and a careful reading of this book...in that order.

This is the second CD I've heard from the talented team of Winters, Wilder and Wilder. Once again, I'm left very impressed by their thoughtful insights, keen strategies, and practical teaching methods. Junior golfers (not to mention kids in other sports or walks of life) can improve their confidence and self-esteem greatly from hearing the messages in this CD. Additionally, parents, teachers, and coaches can help reinforce the lessons by practicing the recommended drills. The authors have hit on a key area of development for all people to realize their true potential. And this CD should enable all listeners to get there.

What a fun, and informative CD! Now, I understand the importance of golf-psychology, golf-confidence, and golf-esteem for young golfers. Winters and Wilder are sport psychologists who teach athletes how to play golf with confidence, and how to have a present-oriented mindset on the course. Dr. Wilder's sister, Karen Wilder, is an LPGA Instructor who offers simple and fun drills that junior golfers can practice to improve their golf mechanics. This CD is an impressive presentation of the mental and physical aspects of golf.

I listened to this CD myself and found that it had so many great ideas for how to improve my "mental" game. I have already started to make improvements in my scores. I have even revealed to some of my golf buddies the source of my new found inner game. I highly recommend this CD for any age. I have even found myself using some of the ideas to bolster my confidence in other areas of my life. I can't wait for more from this dynamic team.

Long recognized as the master teacher to all the teachers who are now so famous on tv, Jacobs here has a mighty instruction book.

Based on his revolutionary idea of ball flight feedback, one can easily find what pattern one's shots are taking, then apply the remedies listed for that ailment.

His two turns and a swing is so simple, but profound. If there is one swing thought I fall back on, this is it. Jacobs concepts are so easy to follow and apply. Soon it will seem as though one can diagnose on the spot and correct.

Monumental classic which more golfers could benefit from using.

Excellent book! As an avid golfer, I've always had to tinker with my swing mechanics on an almost weekly basis to maintain my game. One quick lesson from this book, which simply suggested changing ball position (and offering an explanation of why) was the perfect fix. Now I am long and straight and loving it! I've been loaning the book to friends and telling them to quit paying for worthless lessons.

Tips for Jacobs' fans

After knowing about Jacobs, I searched the web for some material. I ordered Golf Doctor,Practical Golf and all the video series. Jacobs' main concept is that, whatever you think or do, the main reality of golf is the effect and trajectory you give the ball when you hit it with the face of your club. Thus, analising the flight of the ball, you should be able to know what you did wrong. Beatiful concept! No wonder Jacobs' approach to golf has granted him a legion of followers. Not too silly, nor too technical, it's effective!

Here is my advise:

-BUY BOTH.- To get the core concepts from Jacobs, you can avoid buyin the new "50 lessons" book if you prefer so, but I suggest you to buy Practical Golf together with Golf Doctor, so that you have a general reference book (Practical golf), and a guide for any ball flight (Golf Doctor).
-TRY TO GET THE VIDEOS.- They will save you throusands of dollars in lessons! They are simple and wise and you can feel the teaching approach of the master himself! I do not find the "short game" video as good as the Wfull swing" one, wich is a masterpiece. Get as well the faults and correction ones.

This is a unique look at golf instruction from an athletic baseball perspective. I've always been told how different the baseball swing and golf swing are however Mr. Pranio points out many similarites. I've been able to apply lessons in the book to my golf game with immediate positive results and less thinking. Mr. Pranio's golf lessons are natural and did not mess up my golf game for a while. If you have ever swung a baseball bat I highly suggest this book as common sense golf instruction.

After playing baseball for over 10 years as a kid and then trying to make that "adult" jump to golf, i found that all my mechanics we're wrong and i didn't have the time or money to correct them to the point of being a decent golfer. This book allowed me to actually use my baseball instincts that usually cause bad golf mechanics and turn them into a positive for my game. It's a quick read, full of pictures and gives you precise but simple information that can be utilized immediately after you read just a couple of pages. Bottom line is that i took more strokes off my game by reading this book than i did after six lessons(with much less frustration).

Have you ever swung a bat? Do you want to play better golf?

This book is for you. I bought it because I played ball back in the day and figured that my golf game couldn't get any worse. I was expecting the same old back-patting tome of antecdotes, past wins and a little bit of instruction. What I got was a book full of lessons, taking me from the grip to the full swing, fully illustrated using a regular guy as the model. It was great! If my golf pro had explained the swing the way this guy does, I would have broken a hundred years ago! In fact, after reading this book, I broke a hundred on Tuesday. I think everybody who played ball should buy this book. The golf swing makes so much more sense to me now.

Terrific. A sleeper. Full of intriguing Hollywood golf lore and L.A. land history. Captivating photos, but what kept me up late was the text that brings the pictures alive. I found this a surprisingly substantive, well researched piece of work: a topical history of L.A. from an oblique angle--the conception, building and peopling of the city's great golf courses and golf clubs. On top of that it's an eyeball on the entertainment world through the leveling prism of golf: Stars, producers, directors striving to shine or at least //look// good at the maddening game. Easy, amusing writing. Who is the scratch-handicap actor who plays with his shoelaces untied so as not to overswing?

Mr. Labbance has shown us his humorous side as well as a realistic vision as to what we all may expect in the coming decades. Even if the USGA manages to sort out the equipment and impose limits, golf course and equipment designers and technicians would do well to read Golf In the Year 2100 to get a sense of the direction we all may be going. Moving fairways, weather control? And we thought the home course was an advantage. X Golf has already arrived and I don't think any of the concepts are unrealistic. I especially like the bunker technology, given that I have so much trouble with sand anyhow. What really sets this book apart is the wonderful story that is woven throughout. As a hickory golfer, I especially loved the ending which gives us with a classic golf mentality something to hope for along with those of us with a more technical leaning. Its a great book and can easily be read while waiting on the first tee.

One of the things that makes a great book, in my opinion, is its ability to transport you to a completely different place than the one your rear end presently happens to be occupying. Bob Labbance's wildly imaginative book, Golf in the Year 2100, does that and more. As the author of several nonfiction books on golf, as well as editor of Turf Magazine and Editor at Large for New England Journal of Golf, Labbance knows the game inside and out. And it shows in this hilarious look at where the game might go in the next hundred years. It's science fiction made fun, and it takes the game of golf to places never before imagined. Golf has always been a complex game - part physical challenge, part mental exercise - and with Labbance's imaginary inventions it becomes even more strategic. My favorite Labbance addition to the game is the future player's ability to change the weather on a course from one hole to the next. Feel like playing in a snowstorm? You can. Prefer cartpath-melting heat? Just punch a button on the tee and you've got it. There are dozens of wild ways that the game of golf changes in this book, and they're all great fun to see unfold. But at its heart the story is really about the 20th-century man who wakes up after a 100-year coma to encounter them all, and Labbance handles the character development well. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who likes golf, or reading, or both. It will make you smile.

Mrs. Comolli Davis provides a complete guide for women golfers whether they are picking up a club for the first time, or are preparing for their next LPGA event. On a personal note, the chapters that my girlfriend and I enjoyed the most were "Your First Time" and later "Swing Time." The Resources section is very helpful.

Dr. Tom Saunders is an expert when it comes to psyching yourself up for events to come like golfing. As a former pre-natal patient of Dr. Saunders, I applied "mental training" for a pain-free childbirth. I am pleased to report that I have had three pain-free easy childbirths (the last one being just 30 minutes!) Dr. Saunders has a soothing voice to listen to and years of experience that applies his relaxation techniques to lowering your golf score. His book is well-organized, simple to follow and easy to understand (even skeptics will be challenged.) His book is a work of love and if you would be so lucky to have met him in person, you would understand. Of course, you will lower your golf score with the program prescribed in the book. Happy golfing!

After spending years working on my game, and many hours on the range, I felt I had learned a lot about how to swing a golf club. However, whenever I had a good round going I would somehow blow up and ruin the score, usually as a result of nerves! Dr. Saunders book turned out to be just what I needed. His soothing voice on the CDs helped me reach a state of relaxation that was easy to recall on the course. As a direct result, I won first place in the first flight of my club championship within three weeks of practicing his method. My handicap went down 5 strokes from 13 to an 8. Now when I feel the nerves I am able utilize his technique and my performance actually improves rather than fall apart like it used to. I am currently a 5 handicap. I strongly recommend this book!

Good book to help lower golf Score.

If you love golf......and your God, this is the book for you.Sr. Dorothy does a wonderful job of weaving a number of life's truestories into lessons from life. Her warmth in capturing these events truly touches one's soul. How do I know these stories are true?...well, I was one of those present for the hole-in-one story....it's all true! And yes, I was every bit as obnoxious as I appeared the book.

I think having Jack Nicklaus endorse this book tells you a great deal about its content.....and about Jack. I very highly recommend this book.

Since I know Sister Dorothy personally from the time she was in Kalamazoo, MI I was delighted to see a new book by her and anxious to read it. I found it to be very enlightening and since I don't play golf I still found it to be enjoyable and relevant in my spiritual life. She opens your eyes to God with her special brand of humor and continues throughout the book to keep you turning the pages to find more ways to relate not just to a golf course but also the outdoors. I'd recommend this book for any one looking for more ways to bring spirituality into your life, along with humorous bits throught.

After reading Sister Dorothy's first book, 'Colors of the Spirit', she immediately became one of my favorite spirtiual authors. But when I read that she had a new book published called, 'A Golfer's Day With The Master,' I was dissapointed, thinking that she was trivilizing her remarkable talent by writing a book about a golfer's day with God. I was Wrong...Wrong...Wrong.

In my estimation, on the book jacket it should read, author Sr. Dorothy Ederer in collaboration with the Holy Spirit. I know you will also sense this as you read the beautiful prayers and reflections that are in this book. She has taken an ordinary subject, a day in the life of a golfer and made it into a spiritual treasure. This is a must read book for anyone who would like a better understanding of what can happen when one allows the Holy Spirit to abide in one's life. This book could have just as well been titled, 'One Day In Your Life With God' because it encompass's everything one needs to know about how we can relate to God in every aspect of our life.

I highly recommend this little treasure. It is a simple but profound book. My wife and I will reread it many, many times. Tom & Mary Milano
