The girl, the apprentice, and the dogs of iron is full of excitement and jealousy all at the same time! This is a book that
people can learn from. It shows kids like us how to work together, even if you are against each other or are people who don't
want or even don't like to work together, but no matter what that you have to work together. When I finshed this book I felt
lucky that I'm an only child and that we didn't have to many family gatherings. It is a very exciting book and I hope that
you will agree with me after you read this book, this might be the best book you have ever read!

Hugo Claus has been hailed as one of the most important voices in the contemporary Dutch language. Greetings: Selected Poems
is Claus' first book to appear in English.
The selected poems are a varied lot. They cover everything from the two world wars, love, family life, animals and toy trains. My personal favorites are Bitter Tastes and Elephant.
Claus' poems evoke a wide range of emotions and awake different senses in the reader, depending on the subject matter, Some of his poems are irreverent, others disturbing, and a number are edgy and raw.
Those who are passionate about poetry and the written word--how words feel and sound--will enjoy the poems depth of emotion.

Powerful, Christ exalting sermons by Joseph Irons, an Episcopalian preacher from the 19th century, delivered at Grove Chapel
Camberwell in SE London, England, where he ministered for 33 years.
Irons rarely departs from preaching on the Doctrines of Grace, especially man's inability to choose Christ for himself through his freewill and also the sufficiency of Christ in the whole work of the sinner's salvation.
I've just completed Vol. 1 of the 9 volume series by Old Paths Gospel Press, and look forward to reading more.
The title of my review is part of a quote that Irons makes about himself. Quodlibet Online Journal has the rest of it along with a biography of Reverend Irons.

Guardian of the Great Lakes is the saga of USS Michigan an iron-hulled war steamer launched in 1843. It's mission was to patrol
the often volitile Great Lakes region, quelling port town civil disturbances, while at the same time rescuing both Canadian
and American ships in distress.
During the course of it's duty ship and crew engaged in battling lumber pirates, The Mormon tyrant (King) Jesse James Strang of Beaver Island as well as Miners and conflicts associated with the Civil War.
An excellent book about episodes in Michigan History that are often times overlooked.

In Heart of Iron, Harley Hieb tells the story of how he escaped the Bataan Death march and lived for years as a guerilla
fighter in the Philipine Jungle. Part of the reason he survived, Hieb wrote, was because of the hunting and trapping skills
he learned as a kid growing up in South Dakota. Hieb's book begins with the brief story of Hieb's childhood and rebelliious
teen years in Eureka, S.D., when he took off to ride the rails around the country. Both an interesting look at a personal
story, and as a history of World War II.

YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WANT YOU WANT
Gary Carter's Iron mask by Robert Montgomery shows how you can't always get what you want but you can do good at what you have. In this book the main character Robbie Belmont tryouts for the Riverton Tigers varsity team. Robbie's dream was to play on the team as a pitcher but then Robbie's dream changes when he doesn't make the team as a pitcher. Now Robbie's just fighting for the starting position at catcher.
When I first started playing baseball I wanted to play shortstop but there was someone better at that position so my coach started me at catcher. I didn't like playing there at first but as I got better the more I liked it and now its one of my favorite positions to play.
I think that this is great for kids who like to play baseball or just like it. It taught me that I should try my best at the position that my coach wants me to play instead of getting angry because I don't get to play the position that I want to play.

It's so great that this book has been brought back into print. It's a newspaper reporter's very animated, excited reporting
of the Homestead PA steel strike of 1892, which was suppressed by the Pennsylvania state militia after the strikers confronted
and defeated several barge loads of private Pinkerton "guards" that Henry Clay Frick tried to bring in to take control of
the mill. The event was huge and, ultimately, a death blow to organized labor in the steel industry for the next 35 years.
The book definitely takes the side of the strikers, which at the time was also the side that most locals (Homestead is basically
a part of Pittsburgh) also took at the time. The book catches all the exciting moments of the confrontations and subsequent
trials for treason and so forth, and paints interesting likable pictures of the leaders of the strike, such as Hugh O'Donnell
and John McLuckie, who seem to have been, by and large, pretty much regular guys of the time. This is wonderful reading and
will surprise in its richness of interesting details about life in the 1890s.

Iron at Winterthur is an excellent sourcebook for anyone studying 18th century ironware, with excellent photographs and good,
although brief, texts on the pieces. It is a catalog of the collection at Winterthur rather than a text.
My main interests are in wrought iron hardware; for anyone interested in that subject, a better book is Jim Plummer's book on the Jim Sorber collection.
In general, however, this is an excellent source.
