Small, but exceptionally well constructed and with a great depth of interesting and entertaining information, this author is truly one of the finest things in life.
Whether sitting quietly with a coffee (and she *does* make good coffee) or at a more lively social function, don't be lost for good company. Marguerite Lazell is what you want. If you're not the lucky one, maybe her book will be some consolation to you.

I enjoyed this book's insights into the world of Pro and Amerature bicycle racing. This book is wonderful for someone who wants to improve their cycling beyond just riding. Connie and Davis share their numerous facinating experiences that can save you valuable time by not having to learn them the hard way. I especially enjoyed the chapter on junior racing, because I am one.

Roy Wallack describes some of the bike tours he has been on. His adventures range from beginner to very advanced. All of the stories are well written and make you want to go do the same thing he is doing.

Fred Arey's book is an exhaustive compendium of bicycle trails, paths, and routes in the Greater Minneapolis and St. Paul areas. I have found it to be remarkably accurate and informative. On numberous occasions I have taken the maps in the book along with me on my rides and have not been lost since. The author also has a humourous style of writing that is pleasant to follow. I will definately buy the next release of this remarkable guide!

TYMEW is by far the most interesting book I have ever read. The author has a wit that can't be matched by many people. With two tables of content and a quiz on the book at the end, TYMEW is very unusual and makes for great reading. Just the names of the chapters are worth the cost of the book alone. The things that happened to him in his cycling adventures are amazing and he brings them to life in such a vivid way that I felt as if I were out there cycling with him. The book is funny beyond description, yet compassionate enough that parts of it will get to you. This is a must read for anyone who wants to be "entertained." I never thought I'd read a book 4 times - I can't put it down! Bravo, I say!

Despite the current age of the book, this is still a must have book. In my collection of books (too big to mention... heh) this is one that I have retained year after year after year.
The book covers the ten-speed bicycle section by section for the first nine chapters: Frames, Brakes, Handlebars/Stems, Saddles/Seatposts, Drive Chain, Pedals, Derailleurs, Wheels, and finally Tires.
Then the next five chapters are on riding: Clothing, Touring Equipment, Bicycle Accessories, Setting Up Your New Bicycle, and Basic Riding Practices.
This book is easy to read, but chock full of information. It contains a plethora of photos to help you do the right thing. The book has an excellent mix of technical diagrams, charts, and photos - with more photos than anything other than text.
If you find this book on the shelf, purchase it right away! You won't regret it.

A review of the great races from Milan-San-Remo to the Giro di Lomardia from the race photogragher's perspective. Terrific first hand narrative exceeded only by the classic photograghy of Graham Watson. Classic photos of the the big names of the 80s..Moser, Kelly, Delgado, Anderson, Bauer, Lemond, Hinault. Great insight coupled with exciting action photos from the heart of the peloton make this book a must have for the true 'tifosi' (fan). Well worth the effort to find this book.

The texts are full of valuable insights and dramatic details. Add to that Graham Watsons atmospheric photos that seem to always capture the one, definite second of a situation, and you realise, that you have a jewel in your hands that you simply can't put away.
This small book is one of the most authorative documents on the Tour de France - a true masterpiece. Open it, and you can almost hear the crowd cheering Greg Lemond and Bernard Hinault all the way up to L'Alpe d'Huez...
