This is a great book. It gives lots of creative ideas for managing a household, cleaning, and dealing with last-minute emergencies. Highly recommend. Did you know you can use mayonnaise as a hair conditioner? Do you know how to make homemade toothpaste? What to do if the holes in your salt shaker are too large? Heloise has a solution for everything.

This is a terrific book for middle schoolers through adults. It helps readers to identify their learning style and then offers very practical ideas on how to apply that information to a variety of situations/tasks. It is organized by questions like "How can I remember what I read?" to the ever popular "How can I remember phone numbers?" My students love the upbeat easy to use format and the advice given is good.

When you let someone into your home to clean it, take care of children or do any domestic chores, you want to be very sure it is someone you feel comfortable with. This great book will give you the information you need to make an educated decision, how to choose a person that fits your needs, and learn the legal things that you need to know when hiring an employee.

I ran across this book in 1983 in my high school library. I immediately found a copy for myself. This book has information on everything from blueing metal and gun smithing to making soap, making soda pop or a still, medical remedies for wart removal, the gout and so much more (the medical advice is quaint at best and dangerous at worst - it's home remedies from a simpler, less informed day). Whether you are a do it your-selfer, a survivalist, or enjoy reading about how it was done in the old days you can not go wrong with this book. A copy of this book and The Foxfire Book and you are good to go.

I have the first edition of Home Enlightenment and just looked the new book over and like changes.

I am a green interior designer and have found Home Enlightenment to be a very useful reference for my work. it covers a wide assortment of topics, but centers on creating a green and toxic-free environment.

I also like how the elements--earth, water, fire and air--are incorporated into daily living.

Bond is tireless in her research for this book and it is jam-packed with information about what products are eco-friendly, how to clean everything and much more.

Home Truths has been an important aspect in my Honours Thesis, Home and the Practices of Home Making in Gerringong, NSW. The idea of the sensory home has become quite apparent in my interviews of women in Gerringong and Pink's comments coorelate with these women's ideas.

I read this book nearly ten years ago, got hooked on the professional way to clean, and never wasted time cleaning since. It's easy to read, with one or two pages per question. It, and the other Don Aslett books which follow, will change HOW you clean and WHAT tools you use to clean. After you read this, you'll laugh at ads for cleaning products, pass up those same cleaning products at the grocery store, and wonder why people always buy the wrong products.

The author Henry Isaaksen was the main reason I went back to college. We were colleagues at an all girls private school. He was easy to work with and easy to talk to. He had wonderful insights on raising children.(He raised a whole bunch of his own). This book is an easy read and a delight to implement. The methods were used on my 4 kids with good success. Dr. I is always watching! (An inside joke between us.)
