This is the first book that my daughter (now 12 months) clearly responded to, and has remained her favorite. From 4 or 5 months she would smile and coo at the babies' pictures, and showed clear preferences -- unlike another reviewer's child, mine doesn't kiss the babies, but she does bang her head into the page if she likes the baby! This book is slightly smaller than the standard board book, with a slightly cushioned cover, so it was also the first book that my daughter could easily pick up and turn the pages of by herself. Highly recommended as baby's first book.

My daughter loves looking at the other babies in this book! Her face lights up and her little legs start kicking when I pull this book out. There is no plot, so sometimes we make up stories about the babies in the pictures. She also likes that I let her chew on the cover of this board book.

My 14 month old likes this book just fine. Definitely not her favorite book. She likes to look at babies in general, so probably any of these books would have the same effect. To me, the faces the babies are making kind of don't match up well to the word or feeling underneath. The angry baby doesn't look angry to me, the puzzled baby doesn't at all look puzzled to me. Oh, and the dirty baby isn't dirty enough. You want to see a dirty baby face? I bet most parents have a better picture than that one! The book called "Baby Faces" by Playskool is better. The pictures are cuter, bigger, and there are more examples of each emotion.

I just love ALL the books in this series. My children just loved them when they were little, and if you've ever had babies you know how valuable a good book is -- you get to sit down for a while! They were fun for me to read and really fun for them to explore. In fact, I've already packed them away in their hope chests for when they grow up and have children.
Now, whenver I know anyone who has had a baby, these books (as many as I can find) are my gift.

I got this book as a hand-me-down from a friend, whose 4-year-old and 2-year-old boys had failed to destroy it. That alone says a lot about the durability of this book, and its tactile pieces. My son, who is 16 months, loves this book. He likes to touch all the different tactile pieces: the furry puppy chest (my son's favorite), the silky dog ears, the fuzzy slipper, the rubber ball (my least favorite), and the leathery puppy noses (my favorite). The pictures are adorable. There aren't many words per page, so the book might lose its appeal for older, more experienced readers. But it's great for younger kids (under 4).
Another great book in the Touch and Feel Series-my toddler loves it!

My toddler loves any Touch and Feel book-he got his first for Easter last year and I think there's only 4 or 5 we don't have yet. They're sturdy and a great size for toddlers to read, we even throw a couple in the diaper bag when we're out. They're short enough to keep a toddler's attention and filled with bright photographs of familiar things and simple, easy to read concepts. Although as some people have mentioned on this or other books reviewed, they do have some repititous textures and ideas, but I think that most toddlers won't care about that-mine doesn't anyway-he loves them.
He loves "doggies" in general, so really enjoys this one a lot. He really likes the fluffy tummy, silky ear, and leathery noses, but enjoys the whole book. He loves any of them with animals, but this Puppy one is a favorite. I'd recommend this or most any other of the Touch and Feel series, especially if your toddler loves this kind of hands on reading experience like mine does!

We bought this book for my son at 6 months. By 9 months, he was opening it, and touching the pages. His favorite is the back page where he can feel the spiky bale of straw. At 19 months now, he still enjoys turning the pages. He also has the Touch and Feel Dinosaur book in the same series by DK. If you venture into that one, just be prepared for the stickiness of the T-rex's tongue. I've seen it make several adults jump a bit. :-) All-in-all, these books encourage young children to turn pages and interact with books, and they grow with them too. My son will now sit, point and name what he sees, jabber a/b the contents, and let me read the text to him. We liked this tractor book enough for our son that we bought 2 additional copies to give as gifts to friends.

The little one had a copy of the tractor board book, but it was smaller and falling apart. I ordered him this one and he loves it even more than the first one. There are pictures of animals and a farmer along with the pictures of tractors. It's great for any little one who loves tractors and animals.

This is an up-to-date, concise, bitingly humourous, and thorough L.A. guide for anyone with kids. The L.A. Zoo piece was hysterical and while I didn't agree with the Getty center piece (I loved it with my 3 year old daughter) the book is very helpful for all los angelian residents and visitors with kids in the stroller years. Highly recommeneded!

This book goes beyond the hype most other gudieboks engage in. It is a practical, insightful book for anyone, parent, nanny or auntie, who gets out and about with small children.
Brutally honest and highly effective, it tells you exactly what you need to know and not a bunch of hype. Easy to use and read, it's also a fun read with biting satire and good old common sense.

Living in Los Angeles, I have always had out of town guests that have wanted me to show them the sites. It was easy before my sister visited with her three children. I was at a loss of where to take them. Toddlers are not the night club crowd. I searched book stores everywhere and found a handful of travel guides with single chapters on "things to do with kids in Los Angeles". Despite the lack of info, we still managed to show my neice and nephews a good time.
A couple of years later and I had my own toddler. Thinking back to the difficulty that I had with my sister's kids, I went back to the bookstore hoping that there were better books out there. I found a lot. But out of all the new titles, Los Angeles by Stroller was absolutely the best.
This book is wonderful, whether you call Los Angeles your home, or whether your visiting for only a few days, Shelley-Anne's "five strollor" grading scale makes it extremely easy to find the type of outing you want. The best part about it is that she has already done all the work for you, and I have agreed with her every single time.
You can search outings alphabetically, by category or type of outing, or by area of Los Angeles County. The only thing that I would add is a the ability to search by grading scale. For quick reference I have gone into the index and penned in how many strollers, (0-5) she graded each place. This has made if very easy for me to try to take my son to all the places Shelley-Anne thinks are "the best."
I love this book, I recommend it to everyone with a stroller.

I'm expecting twins this fall & although the information in this book will serve me well in a couple of years, it's less directed for pre-toddler stroller activities. This book is great for when your children are approximately 1 ½ - 2 years old. I will use this book as my "Toddler Guide Bible" when they are a bit older.

This book is absolutely loved by children, it is full of treasure and surprises. It may be easy to look past at first as an adult but children are drawn to this book like a magnet and enjoy reading it over and over. No joke. MSRP is a bit steep but if you buy it from the author at Max Cherry Books you can do well. This book is an absolute joy and a must have for your kids. Bravo to Jeffrey Judson Smith for this tribute to his boy.

This is a great introductory field guide for tidepoolers and beachcombers. I grew up on the west coast but was still able to use this reference on Pacific sea life. Perhaps my favorite aspect of the book is the author's willingness to eat just about everything he finds, evoking a marine Euell Gibbons. (If you plan to do this yourself, please research local regulations for collection permits!)

This was a book my 4 year old picked out at the library. He and his 2 year old brother loved it soo much, we are now buying it. The children love the fold open pages which reveal things like a racing car, a fire truck, a submarine, etc. They take turns opening the pages and delight in telling us what's waiting behind them.
From a parent's perspective, the story is fun to read and I love that each of the children in the story is from a diffrent ethnic background.
I was actually surprised my kids would get into a story about a stroller since they no longer ride one, but they could relate very well to each of the children who just isn't ready to leave and doesn't want to get back in that stroller.
