This is such a cute story. SHORT with simple text and great images. The rabbit hops into various tubs of colors and even mixes a few. Cute story that keeps my kids interested. My 2 year old is learning about colors and my 4 year old finds the mixing of those colors to create new ones to be very interesting. Really has triggered their imaginations and creativity. Fun little book. It gets requested here often.

This is a neat book about animals and how they move. The book is amusing and imaginative, and informative on a level that the 2-4 year old crowd can handle. The book is not at all scary, and quite popular with animal lovers. It has about 60 words.

I originally bought this for a friend's child. When I had my son this year I had to buy it for him. My husband and I love this book and will walk around the house saying, "Who Hops?..... no they don't!!" This is such a cute book with fun illustrations and a nice rhythm to the story.

I got this book for my 2 year old daughter and she LOVES it! She really enjoys "reading" it herself. The illustrations are simple and very bright and colorful. The repetitive nature of it, makes it easier for her to "read" and remember. GREAT JOB - Katie Davis !

This is a MUST HAVE book for any toddler.

The colors are bright and the illustrations are funny. This alone keeps my son's attention. The repitions make it easy for my son to remember and help me "read" the book.

Sometimes we play this as a game at the park. My son will start 'hopping' like a bunny and I'll tell him to hop like a kangaroo, horse and fish. He'll stop and say "nooooo, fish hop". I think it's fun and so does he.

I loved using "Who Hops" in my first grade classroom where the children delighted at the silly pictures and the simple text was perfect for their emerging reading skills. Now that I am a mother of a one year old I have fallen in love with this book all over again. My little guy thrills at the bold bright illustrations and the text is fast paced enough to hold his attention through several readings. This book is an all time favorite of mine and a must for any little person's library!

My 18-month old carries this book around with him during the day. The photos keep him busy and he loves turning the pages.

There really isn't a story to the book. Just animal noises. Fun to read and I've heard him practicing the noises when he looks at the book himself.

Cute book. I'm glad I bought it.

My 7 month old grandson loves this book! The real photographs are extremely appealing. There is just enough text for his attention span. He loves to turn the pages and looks at each picture intently. He has dogs (both real and stuffed) of his own and has really been interested in the dog in the picture. The size of the book is perfect for his hands. We have only had this book 3 days, and he wants to read it over and over; I think I've read it about 25 times already!

I am a librarian for my church library. I'm always looking for a good book at a reasonable price. Amazon.com helps me meet my budget. We opened the use of the church library this October to the day care located in out church. "Who says Quack?" is a great addition to the children's portion of our library! The pictures are cute (I am a sucker for duckies) and the size is easy for small hands to hold. It probably will hold up to some teeth chewing on the cover, not to my joy though. I would have preferred the pudgy book to have been a little larger for ease in processing for library identification. It would have been nice to see more inside the book before purchasing too. I cannot complain about shipping; the book arrived in a reasonable time span.

I was initially a little apprehensive about this book, wondering if it was going to leave me feeling more worried or be full of information that I could do nothing with. It doesn't. This is one of the best books I've read so far and it is so full of up to date information. The author makes it so easy to read, even though it is primarily medical info. The stories that precede each chapter are touching, and a great way to add a personal experience you may relate to. In short, great book, worth every penny, wonderful information. You truly will feel armed with the info you need to confidently experience pregnancy again.

I recommend this book to anyone wanting to have a baby. I wish I had read it before we had a miscarriage and then an ectopic pregnancy. It is reader-friendly and is packed with invaluable information about every aspect of pregnancy loss: physical, emotional, relational, medical. The author speaks from personal experience as well as the experiences of many other couples. Armed with the information in this book alone, I feel confident that we will realize our dream of a healthy pregnancy. I now know what questions to ask, what medical support to request, and when to advocate for my self and my baby.

I found "Avoiding Miscarriage" to be an amazing book! It answered so many questions and helped me so much. I accredit most of my "recovery" to this book. I was able to move past most of my issues, and relieve myself of a lot of guilt and blame.
I found the combination of various stories and facts to be extremely effective. Readers are able to relate with others who have had miscarriages, yet learn so much! It was great for me after suffering multiple miscarriages to alleviate some of the fear of multiple miscarriages. I believe it would be wonderful for anyone with multiple miscarriages in helping them narrow down causes.
It also taught me to question my doctor. "Avoiding Miscarriage" gave me critical knowledge every pregnant woman should have to communicate effectively with their doctors.
My favorite section was "Understanding Your Partner." A miscarriage will certainly test a relationship, this section helped to restore my faith in my partner.

Other sections include

-Miscarriage Explained
-Miscarriage Myths and Misinformation
-When Miscarriage Strikes
-Assessing Your Own Risk, with an in-depth break down of all the causes and possible problems
- Understanding yourself
- Understanding your partner.
-Understanding your doctor
-Choosing your own path and
-ENJOYING PREGNANCY

A great buy and definite must read!

The book was good, but for the price I was disappointed. You are your baby's first "entertainment system" with silly faces and songs. For $20 this book basically gives you ideas that you can easily find for free on the internet and in less costly books! Don't waste your money; there are less expensive books on the market with the same information.

When I brought my first baby home from the hospital, I looked at him and thought, "OK, now what do I do with him?" This book gives you a little something to focus on each day, either a song to sing, an exercise, a game, or other suggestions to entertain and stimulate your baby. It's like a friend giving you a good piece of advice every day! You and your baby will love it!

This is a great, easy to read guide for new parents. It gives great suggestions and information on building a close relationship with a newborn. The book includes information and activities appropriate for each week of a baby's life, up to age 24 weeks. It also has great bold illustrations for each week that are fascinating to babies - very handy for baby's visual stimulation. The book is very pro-baby, pro-hands on bonding, pro-parent/baby interaction. This would be a great gift for any expectant or new mom/dad to give her/him tangible suggestions on what to do with baby to make the most of their relationship and to optimize baby's development. This book is simply wonderful!

Babies -- there is so much for them to experience and learn! And there is nothing they enjoy more than spending time with those who love them! Where can you find information to help make the most of your baby's first 6 months -- a most important time of their lives?

The book, "Baby Be Loved," by Susan Ann Stelfox, will help you do just that! This ingenius book contains ideas, activities, and helpful information for each day of your baby's life, from birth to the 24th week. You'll find developmental milestones, exercises, games, songs and other inspirational ideas for bonding with your baby. In addition, each week of the book displays a baby-friendly image that will help stimulate your baby's developing vision.

MyParenTime.com highly recommends this book -- how I wish it was available when I was a new mom :). The spiral bound book is made so it can hang like a calendar, which makes it very accessible for quick glances of information. Most new parents don't have time to read standard parenting books to find a great daily idea or suggestion. This book helps solve that problem by allowing information to be found quickly and easily. What a perfect way to leave more time for treasuring those special moments with your new baby :).

This is one of three books my 11.5 month old daughter will pick off of her book shelf. I make this book very interactive by tickling her toes, clapping her hands, etc. based on what the babies are doing in the book.

My older son also loved this book when he was younger. We used the opening page which has multiple pictures to teach him the related words (dog, cat, ball, shoes) when he was around 1.5 years.

What a smart book!

This is the book to bring when you go out to eat or to the shopping mall. It keeps her happy and interested! I highly recommend this book for anyone with or expecting a baby.

My three-year-old son and I love this book. We read several pages every night at bedtime. There are a couple of questions at the end of each story and I'm always amazed that he can answer every one! We've already gone through the entire book three times after receiving it a few months ago. My son is really getting to know the Bible and he enjoys it! The best picture Bible I have come across for preschoolers.

Paraphrase doesn't live up to beautiful artwork
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2007-01-05
Like some of the other reviewers, I grew up reading this book. I have a 1977 printing, as well as a recent one. The old copy was only recently returned to me and I was happy to marvel over some of the beautiful scenes depicted in this book. Truly, they are some of my earliest mental pictures of God and faith stories, particularly the image of God on the very first page, but many others as well.

I was disappointed, upon giving it a more critical overview as an adult, to realize that the paraphrase is terrible in some points. The one example that stood out to me so starkly was the Wedding at Cana. "After a while they needed more grape juice for the people to drink." Grape juice? Also, the author's use of the word "minister" in place of "priest" and "church" in place of "temple" is affected and sounds like it came straight out of a contemporary Baptist Sunday school lesson. Additionally, I find it baffling that, among so many beautiful art depictions on most of the story pages, there are a few images that seem to be photographs of actual people. Specifically, Ruth and her mother-in-law (page 72 in the old version) and Ruth alone on the next page. I might be wrong about how the images were created, but those two really stand out in style from the rest of the book.

I give this book a 3 star rating for the pictures alone. My favorites are the cover (baby Moses being rescued by his sister), God in the darkness on the first page, Jacob's ladder and the angels, The Nativity, Jesus walks on water, the Transfiguration, the Shepherd on the cliff with a sheep, and the Agony in the Garden.

The book lost 2 stars from me because I feel the wordings and translations are lacking, although I appreciate the childlike phrasing and intent to bring the truth of God's love to young people. I also am disappointed in the lack of consistency of quality among the images.

The Best Catholic Mother's Prayer Book!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-05-08
This book has been such a great blessing to my motherhood, it keeps my heart and soul focused in a very special way to God, Our Lady and the saints and to the needs of my children. This book has been the perfect prayer manual companion to keep my heart soft and continually directed to my children and my eternal destination. And I know that it is only through daily prayer that it is possible. The prayers are written in such a way to speak to my heart as well as directing my petitions for my children's heart and soul.

The book is artistically delightful, a little hardback book that can weather my handling of it and the occasional 'pouncing upon' by little chubby fingers and small enough to carry in the handbag.

The pages are filled with heart touching informal prayers, poems, quotes from the saints, lovely motherly thoughts, formal prayers we all know (The Memorare, St Michael prayer, prayer to St Therese etc.) Another important addition to this book is a 'Spiritual Communion' often mothers cannot get to daily Mass but they can unite themselves spiritually with the Lord. Finally, there is a reflection at the end of each chapter, good for meditation if you wish to add a 'mini retreat' to the end of your day's or week's prayers (whenever you have time to add it in.)

We all want as mothers, one book that offers us the most perfect prayers that really meet our spirtual and emotional needs - this is it.

Donna-Marie I understand, was particularly encouraged by Mother Teresa to write this book and this saint prayed for it as well. I've just finished reading "Come Be My Light" on the spiritual life of Mother Teresa and I can see Mother Theresa's simple love and 'signature' in Donna-Marie's writings, she obviously was greatly inspired by Mother.

I buy this book all the time to give as gifts to mothers when they have had a new baby or as a birthday gift for friends who have children. I know I am giving them the best little present ever! I can't recommend this book enough.

If you would like to read more of my thoughts on this book and see how I use it daily, go and visit my blog: http://starrymantle.blogspot.com/2008/03/my-perfect-mothers-prayerbook.html You will also see pictures of the inside of this beautiful book.

A couple of weeks ago, I did a review for Donna Marie's book Heart of Motherhood. And then I picked up this gem & started to read it. What a WONDERFUL book for the busy Catholic mother! The chapters are short & divided by topic but they aren't your standard "chapters" either. Each has a few prayers, specific quotes from Pope John Paul II, Blessed Mother Teresa about the topic and then ends w/a "think about it" sort of reflection to keep the mind & heart focused on the truth about our vocation as mothers. Definitely one for every Catholic mother's collection and easy to dive in & read over & over & over again. This is going to be another of Donna Marie's books that I give as a gift, too! Do yourself a favor & get this one!

We're first-time parents and wanted a sane, easy-to-follow book to guide us through some of the rough spots. This book is chock full of common sense techniques, tips and ideas. I consult it at least once a month - but have read it through many, many times.

I bought this book after having read Deborah Grays "attaching in adoption" and I got so much more out of this book and many practical ways to handle our "not so easy to handle daughter". I also thought to myself as I read this book that alot of the advice would probably be valuable to any parent with a "challenging child", not just an adopted "challenging child". This book has helped our family tremendously with no nonsense practical ways to address difficult behaviors. It also taught us how to be compassionate and more sensitive to our daughters past and her current issues.

A nice book with a good message of compassion for the damaged children who are adopted into our homes. I liked the style, but was still waiting for concrete advice when the book ended. Short and very general. "Use a light, bantering tone." Well, I agree, but only possible under some circumstances. I have two children adopted from very difficult backgrounds. Parents like me need a lot more than what is in this book.

Reading books about cats to a preschooler, you come upon many books with more wishful thinking than actual knowledge of how cats behave. I'm thinking of those sweet, sweet books in which cat 1 happily accepts cats 2, 3, 4, etc. and they are all best buddies. Alas, that is not how real cats interact. But Charlotte Voake obviously knows cats better than that. Her story of captures the territorial instinct of a cat confronted by a newcomer as perfectly as her illustrations capture the marvelous range of expression in feline posture. Despite the realism, she manages a plausible happy ending that made me laugh out loud. A little gem for cat lovers aged 3 to 300.

I have read many books to my two children over the years (we love to read together) and this is one of our favorites. It is especially good for the younger ones. The story is sweet and gentle and yet full of humor. The illustrations are really engaging -- for both adults and children. Charlotte Voake draws the best cats ever! Funny and warm, this is the perfect bedtime book.

A Very Good Book - a review of "Ginger"

Here is another good book by Charlotte Voake, a woman who obviously knows something about cats.

In this book Ginger gets a new 'friend'. The kitten though proves to be more friend that Ginger can handle and Ginger stocks off to pout.

As a mom I like that this book can be used to teach sensitivity to the needs of others. And though it's not a problem we have, I could certainly see using this book as a segway to discussing certain impending family changes... such as a new child coming.

Four Stars. [B+]. Artwork is even better than in "Ginger Finds a Home". [Ginger is a fat cat now.] Very good read-aloud. Very good art. My two children (boy and girl) love this book.

For The Child Who Loves Cats (Not Just About New Siblings)

This is a book about Ginger, a lovely orange tabby who belongs to a little girl who loves him. However, she rocks Ginger's world by bringing home a new kitten, who wants to play with Ginger, eat his food, sleep in his basket, etc. Ginger takes the slightly implausible way out of going and hiding in the garden in the rain (behind the refrigerator is more like it.) But all's well that end's well, with everyone friends.

This book is often pigeon-holed as the book for introducing toddlers to the idea of a baby brother or sister, but it also speaks to the cat lover in all of us. We have a cat and a 21-month old, and this book is right at the top of her list. The illustrative style is whimsical without being saccarine, and the kitten's penchant for muscling in on Ginger's food, bed, etc. is true to cats as well as babies everywhere. We both love this book, and look forward to its 101th reading. You will too.

Simply Precious!

This book is so sweet and the illustrations so simple that I enjoy it as much as my son. It is also a very calm and tender read, perfect for bedtime!
