A REAL-WORLD Cisco troubleshooting guide - Finally!!!Review Date: 2001-03-31
The book is excellent! When a book is about troubleshooting, I expect it to contain real-life situations that can help me at closing time, on a Friday afternoon. This book does not lack that, as opposed to Cisco Press' CIT guide. If you're a network engineer or administrator in-charge of administering and maintaining your Cisco environment, buy this book! I am sure you would not regret it.

The Bomb...Rabitzin blows it up!Review Date: 2007-10-14
Every story is unique and gives us glimpses of the trauma of challenges in modern day marriges. Rabbizin is like a G-dly spiritual surgeon that goes in gently and removes the tumors and abcesses that form in a persons soul, then she gently patches them up and checks in until the person is ready to leave the hospital, cured! What a beracha she is, not only to these people in these stories, but to all who are fortunate enough to open her books and are allowed to drink from the fountain of her love and wisdom.
She is known as the Jewish Billy Graham, she is much more than that she is a healer, a tzadikka of our generation. I can't get enough of her wisdom, and am praying for a chance to meet her, so that I can tell her how much her words have helped me.
This is a must have book for couples, or singles, it doesn't matter. the price is insignificant when a true treasure is found.

The Committed Marriage - An Excellent BookReview Date: 2007-03-14
The Definitive Guide to a Successful MarriageReview Date: 2006-10-20
Rebbetzen Jungreis' brilliant sage advice and words of guidance are predicated on the wisdom of the Torah, as she invokes the name and declares the praise of the most powerful and unifying force in any relationship, the Almighty G-d of Israel. As the architect of the universe and the creator of all life, G-d in His infinite wisdom gave us the ability to sanctify the marriage relationship, to transcend the mundane and the physical and to elevate ourselves to a level of holiness that is an essential ingredient to any successful and happy marriage. As the Rebbetzen explains, the words in Hebrew for a man and woman have the same letters, and these letters spell the word fire. Man and woman are analagous to two fires, both consuming each other. The Hebrew letter, Yud, which stands for the name of G-d must be included in the names of man and woman in order for stability, harmony, peace and genuine love to reign supreme.
Rebbetzen Jungreis speaks with the authority of a clinical psychologist and marriage counselor, while imbuing those she counsels with a solid spiritual foundation that will serve as an anchor in the turbulent waters of marriage conflicts. The values and ethos that she imparts are ones that will endure the multitude of challenges that are endemic to everyday life and that are particularly prounounced in marriage. Her compelling and emotionally charged writing style is infused with the greatest of respect for the intelligence and sensitivities of the reader, as she steers clear of preachy or didactic rhetoric, that is all to commonplace in the vast array of books of this kind.
This book is permeated with such a deep and intense level of warmth and love that can only be termed palpable, as its words reach deep into the heart and soul of the reader. Her words are real, as is she, and your soul will be lifted to the highest of levels. It is clear that Rebbetzen Jungreis is a scholar of Torah and her insights into the wellsprings of these sources smack of the kind of profundity and sheer genious, once only reserved for venerable sages.
This book is a must read for all those considering marriage and for those who are experiencing difficulties or problems in marital relationships. It is a book that will have far reaching effects for future generations and should be required reading in all secondary schools. This guide on marriage is timeless, as is the Torah that it is built on and its lessons will resonate for all of eternity.
The best book on marriage, period.Review Date: 2004-10-25
"The Committed Marriage" is beautifully written, with much sound advice based on real-life experience. It is both inspiring and practical, in the sense that while she writes about the beauty of a Jewish marriage and how to maintain happiness and love throughout your life, she also brings many practical real life examples.
Everyone has their favorite parts to this book, mine are the parts where she discusses what "Rayim Ahuvim" - beloved friends - really mean, and the story with her daughter and the tickets. I was also very impressed with the many beautiful stories of her late husband, zt'l.
If you must read only one book on marriage - make this your book. It is the only book you will ever need.

Much More than a Speaking BookReview Date: 2007-07-30

The Secret to Overcoming Speaking Anxiety: A Proactive WayReview Date: 2007-06-13
I believe they take a very proactive approach to helping us understand how positive thoughts and beliefs, combined with speaking strategies, give us control over ourselves and our audiences.
They also take a customer centered approach, which they say is very important, because if you don't focus on what your audience wants, you'll never feel confident that you are meeting their needs.
Even if you aren't a professional speaker, you will get something good from this book, especially if you want to confidently get your point across. It might be in a school meeting discussing your children, or supporting an important issue in a community meeting.
Since most people read non-fiction books for the benefit they bring, I've identified a few specific points that you too might find helpful in The Confident Speaker.
** Dispelling the common myths about public speaking anxiety
** What preparations reduce anxiety quickly and easily
** The Do's and Don'ts of great public speaking
** How to connect with your audience and know what they want
** Simple but effective techniques to increase your confidence
I interviewed Harrison and Larina on Inside Success Radio for three reasons: 1) I believe that speaking with an author is the best way to know a book is genuine, 2) it gives the author an opportunity to summarize the main points, which creates a type of "Readers Digest" version of the book, and 3) during an interview you often get additional "golden nuggets" that aren't found in the book.
During the radio interview I asked them to share with everyone what the Inside Success Secret is to being a confident speaker in front of any crowd, and this is what she shared:
"There are many myths out there that need to be dispelled. One is, if you're anxious you will not perform well. In reality we actually need anxiety to perform well; we just need the right level of anxiety. People start getting a little nervous, they feel their heart beating quickly and they think oh no, I'm anxious, I'm not going to do a good job when we found in research that in fact when people are a bit anxious they do a fine job."
After reading their book and interviewing them, I believe Harrison Monarth and Larina Kase are two of the top experts on speaking. By following what they teach you will go from scared speechless to confident speaker. Their proactive strategies are easy to understand, and if you apply them, they will bring quick results....YOU WILL BE A CONFIDENT SPEAKER!"
This book is probably not for the person who is looking for highly advanced techniques for honing a sales presentation. If that is you then I recommend you look for books specific to your particular need.
The rating I use is based on a combination of how much I believe a proactive person might enjoy reading them and how much they might help you to be a more proactive person.
This book easily earns 5 stars...and I recommend it to you with no reservation. This book is not only a welcome addition to my own library; it will be a great gift for friends and family.

A fast paced bookReview Date: 2008-04-23
She wrote about her childhood and the journey that led her to journalism.
The author related how publicity usually aids in solving cases and apprehending the guilty, but not always. The "Pillowcase Rapist" was used as an example where that tactic failed.
Victims are not always located. Like in the case of Christopher Wilder where two of his victims' bodies were never discovered.
The disappearance of a 17 year old girl was an unsolved mystery. The poignant story of her mother's courageous search in dangerous locales and her timeless determination was another side to that story.
Edna Buchanan documented the carnage of the race riots that resulted after the McDuffie police brutality-murder case.
There are a number of true life, colorful characters in "The Face had a Familiar Face" that make this book entertaining and hard to put down.

Very Inspiring and Insightful!Review Date: 2008-04-09
The stories come from different types of social workers, in different fields, under different circumstances, and really gives the reader a sense of what each worker goes through on a typical day.
It's also very true to the field. Since buying the book I have had the opportunity to work in social service, and the day-to0day events adn issues the workers deal with in the book are very realistic and honest.
It's definately a must-read for anyone thinking about the social work field, no matter what service or population you are thinking about working with.
not bad at allReview Date: 2007-09-24
I would recommend the book to anyone since it's always good to understand how varied the field of social work can be.
Absolute must read.Review Date: 2007-09-11
This book provides the unexperienced social worker with the duties and responsibilities that are expected of you in your chosen field of practice,as well as in other areas. It also provides the opportunity for you to judge for yourself whether you are performing duties that are expected of you in your specific practice, and allows you to compare what you are being asked to do, with what others are doing in the same practice area . Moreover, you will feel motivated to join with other associations, and to volunteer your services as a means for professional growth as you read how other social workers manage to include these activities in their days.
For the experienced social worker that might be considering changing from one specialty practice to another, this book will provide a feel for what you may encounter in your new social work job.

This book gives a good, balanced overview of how to effectively work with an autistic child. There were also a number of good suggestions and ideas for how to plan therapy sessions. I found some of the suggested activities to be a bit mis-matched in terms of ability level - some of the suggested 'games' for very basic skills, for example, seemed too complex for children working at such a beginning level. Overall, though, a good resource.

For the holidays and birthdays give this book to your therapists/aides and teachers vs. another gift. It is a good, worthwhile read.

An introduction to the struct and components of ATMReview Date: 2007-05-12
This book offered a very good explanation of the ATM Adaptation Layer (AAL). In particular, it described AAL1 in detail which my equipment relies on. This book was better that other texts that focus more on the layers beneath AAL.

TMN, ILMI, CAC, MPOA, LANE, RSVP, IPOA, IISP, PNNI, etc -- they're all introduced (and I do mean just introduced). Ibe is a good technical writer who uses concise, easy to understand language. There are several diagrams that illustrate points that are difficult to visualize and the topics are discussed immediately (you don't have to scan around several different pages to get the gist of something).
I am a programmer writing ATM DSL test automations, so I'm someone who often has to deal in-depth with the many different sectors of ATM technology. Since I have to jump topic to topic within the technology, I find myself having to "remind" myself how something fits in the whole picture. I do this with Ibe's book, so it's definately on my shelf -- but it doesn't gather dust b/c people are always borrowing it!
For someone new to ATM but not a technophile, this book should wet your appetite to get to the more robust (and dry) reference books.
Note: This book is for general introduction/understanding -- not as a reference tool.
