Data Driven Web Sites with Microsoft Access 2000Review Date: 2001-02-07
The impact of global business and electronic commerce are both dependent upon effective, efficient and reliable database management systems. This book makes this point succinctly clear and dwelves only into the sticky programming issues if the reader wants to. You do not have to be a professional to read this book, but it is strongly advised that such a publication will indeed make you into a better professional. As a college student whose professor loaned him the said book overnight, I was overwhelmed to the point of visiting Amazon.com in order to execute my purchase!

than voluminous study guides. Numerous examples accompany the review and bring it to life. The Java Super Review includes an
overview of language fundamentals, object-oriented programming, exception handling, i/o streams and threads, class libraries, applets,
applications, custom components, Java Beans, and Java Swing. The accompanying CD-ROM contains the Java SDK (Software
Development Kit) for both Windows and Linux, as well as the source code for the programs and examples presented in the book. An
excellent introduction to this important programming language.

Online Children Require Adequate Online Guidance!Review Date: 1998-06-13
Another strength I found fascinating was the description of clever programming and marketing ploys used to gain the attention of those online. As the author points out, some people will use extremely clever means to ensnare children and adults alike. To his credit the author cites examples of other threats apart from sexually explicit material. He writes of twelve children who followed easy-to-follow instructions found on the Internet on how to build homemade grenades. A number of these children were badly hurt when their grenades exploded. Other children online have formed close intimate ties with others and have actually left home to meet their newly found "friends".
The author rounds out the book by offering an adequate glossary of terms, a list of safe Websites for kids, instructions for surfing the Internet, setting up and operating parental control software, and a very helpful guide to detect the presence of suggestive material. The book is footnoted to provide readers with documented sources. Readers should visit the Kidshield Website for updated and additional information.
The incidents cited in the book are reason enough to be on guard for the welfare of children today. Sadly, at present we cannot rely upon local, state, and federal governments to protect children from the exposure of negative influences that exist on the Internet, whatever they may be. We should take immediate a! ction to make such threats much less of a problem and burden. This book offers a thoughtful response to a problem every parent, teacher, and other concerned persons in this technological era should become familiar with. Get a firm grip on this problem before this problem gets a firm grip on your kids!

Summary Review of Access 2007 BooksReview Date: 2008-03-22
"Special Edition: Using Access 2007" (Special)
"Access 2007 Bible" (Bible)
"The missing Manual of Access 2007" (Manual)
"Access 2007 for dummies" (Dummies)
In sum, the special edition is the best. Buy the special edition. Even you are a fresh beginner on Access.
(My story? Well, I read the dummies first. Then looked at Manual, doesn't like it. So I got the bible. Still unsatisfied. Finally, I got the special edition.)I know some basics on Access 2003 and only use Access when Excel is not enough to handle my data. I started with "Access 2007 for dummies" and finished it in a couple of hours. Then I turned to "Access 2007 Bible" and "The missing Manual", the manual is the worst one and the bible just provides basics, well, maybe a bit more than, that the dummies book already covers.
The special edition provides more examples and detailed explanation on: Query, Forms, Reports, Pivot table. Not sure about the VBA part.
I also like very much the reader-friendly layout and enjoy its "what is in real world" sections at the end of several chapters.
This book also provides a good summary of basic database concepts like normalized, the importance of index, joints. The summary is very helpful especially you are a beginner.
The cover of the special edition claims that the special edition is the only Access book you need. Well, maybe not the only one, but if you have the special edition, you definitely don't need the Access 2007 Bible, The missing manual and the dummies book.
