Reference Software Books

This book is full of practical information for those of you who have found yourselves in a systems management position, responsible for the care and upkeep of any number of workstations. It contains many forms to help you keep track of what you have, and much practical info on how to keep things running smoothly. I first found this book in our local library. Now I'm ordering a copy to keep as reference for the rest of our MIS Dept.

Aptly named, Sherlock comes across as a street-savvy investigator in his self-help guide for the common person who wants to fight back. His no-nonsense approach to digging the dirt arms the average Joe with the tips he needs to take on a range of investigative projects, from crocked landlords and cops to criminals in your kid's daycare center. As a former investigative reporter, I was impressed by Sherlock's knowledge of public records: where they are, how to get them, and how to use them to one's advantage. The research methods Sherlock teaches are safe and easy to understand. The researcher is taught to collect the public records needed to expose a crook, for example, and the paperwork then speaks for itself. Not all of his instruction is aimed at what he calls "military purposes," the book is a great introduction to the mechanics of local government. In a light yet punchy style, Sherlock exposes the interworkings of government, demystifying it in the process. He puts knowledge into the hands of every day consumers, and that knowledge, as he mentions, equals power. Though instructional and practical, the book is heavily laced with Sherlock's thoughtful, funny, and at times biting look at society and the criminal element running rampant within it. I recommend this book as a must read for all reporters. But the book appears to really be geared for the average American who's tired of being ripped off and intimidated. Respectful of the law, Sherlock instructs the reader how to operate within the framework of our legal and governmental systems to achieve one's objectives, while receiving dynamite results and justice.

I bought one these guys' other books about the Palm, and was glad to see the same format for an MP3 book. They tell you everything about burning, ripping, players, software, Web radio stations, and even legal stuff about MP3. They do these hilarious point/counterpoint arguements like they did in the Palm book -- very funny, guys! Oh and the reason I bought this book is there's stuff for bands and musicians about getting your stuff distributed on the net and making money from it. Rip the cover off, though, cuz that girl is WEIRD-LOOKING!

What a wonderful item! Both NAB and RSV versions of bibles are contained in this product. Many extras are included such as a beautifully illustrated section on the life of Christ. Both versions of this product contain illustrations throughout. The search function is invaluable when looking for specific words or phrases. You can limit the search to specific content in the software or include all content in the product. The authors clearly put significant thought and love into the Illustrated Catholic Bible. I highly recommend this product to everybody!!!

I am always purchasing instructional books looking for the book that is going to change my life and solve all my problems. Infusing the Teaching of Critical and Creative Thinking Into Content Instruction is probably the closest I have ever come to that ideal, I use the book frequently and try to read from it on a regular basis.

This is a wonderful review of the legal and legislative matters facing the computer industry. It concisely follows recent developments without editorializing a position. A tremendous amount of research obviously went into this book. It is well organized, creating a flow from one idea to the next. While being very thorough, it is written for both the layman and those with a background in the field. It achieves a seeming impossibility: an entertaining book about complex legal issues. I can only hope to see future books by the authors, Jonathan Band and Masanobu Katoh.

The Internet Starter Kit for Macintosh is a great book and a great bargain especially in the paperback edition.It's highly recommended!!!

Since I bought this book, I can hardly keep it on my desk. All of our engineers constantly steal it for reference and definitions of various components within the ATM networking world. Personally, I've completly spun myself up on ATM, solely from this book. I would strongly recommend it as a starter manual and professional reference.

The concept of ATM networking is explained in a very easy to understand format. Also included is an interesting history of Telecommunications. The book progresses to more advanced topics within ATM. This book sets up nicely for the reader to advance his/her knowledge base on the subject. Also fairly easy to read for this type of book.
