This book is a must for all developers that want to benefit from the new Exchange Web Services protocols. MSDN documentation is not that great, but the book explains the internals, data types and procedures, giving clear examples. You can't go wrong with it, especially when developing using .NET

This book is not only powerful, but is a must have for anyone developing against Exchange Server either now or in the future. The explanations are both thorough as well as detailed and make it easy for those who have never written web services to get started. The examples are fantastic and complete and in no time at all I was able to get started. I would recommend this book to anyone, new programmers or experienced. Fantastic book!

One of the best Internet books I've read. Has an amazing amount of information in it. Answered virtually all of my questions and lots I didn't even know I had. Every Internet user should have a copy of this book. Questions I couldn't even get an answer from my ISP were answered in this book.

Top-Notch Tech Support at Your Fingertips!

Review Date: 1998-07-22
The computer and Internet industry has grown at an amazing rate in recent years and there seems to be no letting up in the production of new computer and Internet products. New hardware and software is essential to keep in line with today's trends. As more people purchase these new products and log onto the Internet the need for professional technical support increases. Cheryl Kirk has written Internet & Web Answers! Certified Tech Support to offer readers many of the answers they need to succeed online.

When we buy new equipment and software we usually receive a limited amount of complementary technical support for these items. Sometimes this brief period of time may be sufficient to handle the tough questions we face. Sometimes it is not. Furthermore, some companies do not offer toll-free telephone technical support. This can add up after a while. I know. I've been there. I've paid the bills. Internet & Web Answers! will answer over 400 of the! most commonly asked Internet and Web questions and save the time and additional expense we would otherwise incur.

Readers will benefit from the expertise offered from the databases of Stream International, a leading third-party tech support organization. This book provides short, concise answers to questions such as: why doesn't my modem operate up to speed?; why do my Web pages look different on different computers?; what is a cookie?; what is a Trojan Horse? The book offers assistance with matters such as getting connected online, configuring e-mail, how to design, create, and upload files to AOL and CompuServe, designing Web pages, and more. Many notes, tips, tricks, and cautions are provided to make the reading this book an interesting experience.

I wish this book had come out a few years ago. It would have saved me countless hours of frustration and a lot of money. While there is no better tech support option than speaking with live expert tech sup! port personnel, this book will help bridge the gap. In mos! t cases it will supply exactly the same answers that many ISP's and companies would provide. Save them and yourself some headaches by picking up this book today. If you can master the contents of this book you are well on the way to becoming an expert tech support person yourself. Perhaps someday people will start calling on you for help!

Andy Eddy's wild, wild web tour may be a few years old, but it's no less entertaining. It's still an excellent primer for those just starting to use the Internet for entertainment, and details a number of basic Internet tools (Telnet, etc) and how to use them--but more importantly, why you'd want to. From massive online role-playing games to Proctor & Gamble's unbelievable list of registered domain names (not just listerine.com, but also badbreath.com--and they get worse), it's helpful and humorous at the same time.

Excellent book. The first pages (Guidelines) serve as the basis to understand what Internet is all about and how it can be used in ELT . It's got tips, hands-on sections and Website FAQs. They're a must for newbies like me. For us, EFL/ESl teachers, this book is an excellent resource to start our journey towards the integration of ICT into the language classroom. Wonderful activities, smartly organized by levels and themes.

I bought this book despite the comments made by the reader from SÃO PAULO, and therefore had some hesitations in using it in my classrooms. However, I found the book to be incredibly informative and chock full of useful and practical ideas that can be easy implemented into the classroom. It is written in such a clear way that there's no need to have any in depth internet knoweledge at all. A god send for the likes of me. I would recommend this book withput hesitation to any teacher wanting to utilise the capabilities of using the internet in the classroom. I'm not sure what problems are friend in Brazil encountered, but I had no trouble at all. All of the pages listed in the book led to straight to the sites they were supposed to. I have already started an email exchange with another school. I'm not sure what problems are friend in Brazil encountered, but I had no trouble at all.

This is a really useful book. Although a fan of the internet and an EFL teacher I could never quite work out the best ways to use the net to help my students. This book is full of practical and workable ideas. It opens up a whole new resource for teachers. You don't have to be a computer whizz either!

It just fits into my pocket(what bliss). If its out there, it's in here! Thanks Angus.

Internet Bible, 2nd Edition is a very informative reference book covering the whole spectrum of Internet from modem configuration to ISPs, browsers, e-mails, search engines to creating web contents. The CD-Rom adds further value to this piece of reference work which has been priced very reasonably.

Some of the other topics covered by this book are essential for every web user which includes online privicy and security, protecting kids on the Internet, online shopping, gaming and business and NetMeetings.

I will recommend this book to anybody who would like to learn the Internet and the World Wide Web from scratch and would like to find everthing that he or she is looking in one book!!

An Extensive Compilation of Government Websites!
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1999-10-20
The size of the United States Government has grown by leaps and bounds since its humble beginning a little over two hundred years ago. The founding fathers of this country probably never envisioned such rapid growth. Many of us living today probably wished it hadn't. Anyway, we must live with it. Fortunately, we can all benefit from our tax money at work by logging onto a number of government Websites and glean from the vast amounts of information available at them.

Laurie Andriot has compiled an extensive number of government Websites in Internet Blue Pages to offer her readers a heavy-hitting source of government resources. Information gleaned from these sites can help readers make better business decisions, assist them in finding employment, make it easier for them to obtain veterans services, help them to keep up on the latest Washington news and lawmaking (and law-breaking), and much more!

Readers will be able to access tons of government policy and regulatory information covering a variety of issues, including health, safety, food, finances, employment, military, transportation, civil rights, the arts and sciences, and social issues that affect our country and our way of living. I was quite surprised to see a Website listed for the RAF Mildenhall Air Force Base located in England. I had visited this base a number of times while serving in the Air Force at another base in this same country!

Andriot offers brief but helpful commentary on many of the sites listed, including the historical background and roles of many government offices and agencies we have heard about and perhaps a few we never knew existed! Readers are encouraged to read through these blue pages to learn more about the government that has pledged to serve our best interests.

Regardless of what your opinion is of the current administration and congressional representation, our government has plenty of useful information available to meet a variety of personal and business needs. One can tell by the size of this book that there is plenty to go around. This book provides a heavy dose of it. It is ideal for people who either want to do business with our government agencies or want to learn how best to keep them off their backs!

Christian Crumlish doesn't waste your time explaining every little insignifcant detail about the Internet. Instead he gets right to the heart of the basics. Tailored for the home dial-up user or the busy executive this book is easy to read, informal, and sometimes irreverent but never boring. If you don't want to waste time this book is perfect. Are you the only dinosaur left who hasn't been on the Web yet? Or maybe you're sick and tired of people raving about the Internet while you sit and nod knowingly, but without the slightest clue what they are ranting about. If you have decided it's time to surf before you get alienated, but only have coffee breaks and short lunches to learn how to surf the Web, The Internet for Busy People can give you a crash course in surfing lingo. The best way to learn how to surf is to dive in and get immersed in interfacing with the new environment. The Internet for Busy People does exactly that by using rich colourful pages that give you great screen shots of what you will see while browsing the Internet. As most individuals are more receptive to graphics inclined than text, the book's familiar and myriad screen shots shortens the learning curve, much like a computer flight simulation assists a pilot in flight training. Besides great screen shots, call-out diagrams that point out how to fill out a web page form help overcome the form-filling paranoia that many of us have. For instance, what should you put in the domain box and, for that matter, what the heck is TCP/IP or SMTP Besides helping you overcome such nightmares, The Internet for Busy People does a great job in easing the rookie surfer into Netspeak and the lingo of the Internet surfer. As you get more proficient with simple e-mail protocol, Crumlish grooms you for bigger and better things on the Internet like File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and researching using Gopher to access remote libraries. But my favourite aspect of The Internet for Busy People is the expert dialogue box that peppers the book with wise words from the pros. In so doing, Crumlish actually treats you like an intelligent, albeit busy person that doesn't need to be coddled with simplistic information. Even for a seasoned surfer, I picked up some new tricks and got some questions answered from the expert advice dialogue boxes. I've always found that writing style and tone of voice in any computer publication is the make-or-break factor in my enjoyment of a book. It's easy to accumulate knowledge, but to share it in a non-condescending manner that doesn't put the reader off. Crumlish makes reading The Internet for Busy People like hearing from a friend enthusiastic about teaching you the ways of the Web. The Internet for busy People is surprisingly affordable considering that every page is chock-full of colour graphics and illustrations. Basically, it's like browsing the Internet before you actually go on-line - a dry run, so to speak.
