It's a fun read. All car shoppers as well as anyone facing a purchasing negotiation can benefit from this book. It offers precise tips on how to avoid common pitfalls and get the best deal possible in any car purchase or lease situation. It's also a great read and a facinating tour of how a car dealership operates. It took us forever to decide whether to buy or lease until we read this book!

I have been buying new cars for over 40 years, and finally, after not knowing whether I was paying too much or not, I got hold of this book, and everything changed for me. Just by following the eight commandments, which are easy and straightforward, I'm finding car buying can happen without hassle or mystery, and by using the web sites listed in the appendix, I know where to look up everything I could possibly need. Finally, I feel in control, and so much more confident that I'm not spending too much money. The stories communicate how important the commandments really are. Besides being a wise investment, this book is fun to read.

I have to confess that I am someone who managed to get through the first 20 years or so of adulthood without ever having bought a car. But now that I may have to bite the bullet, I found this book indispensable. I never realized that buying a car can be such a minefield and that there so many things that a prospective buyers needs to be aware of. I thought that this book gave me some very clear principles to use when approaching a show room. I particularly liked the advice about getting financing at your own financial institution instead of falling for the financing deals that the dealerships will try to offer. I also liked the authors point about NOT trying to understand the dealer and his or her perspective - that is probably the first mistake I would have made had I not read this book. The book is written with a very witty style and I found that once I started reading I couldn't put it down and read practically all of it in one sitting!

With much anxiety, I was in the market for my first new car. Using the Car Buyer's Bible's easy to use commandments, I was able to negotiate a price $500 below invoice for a 2005 Subaru Outback XT2.5 Limited! I am so pleased with this purchase!

Segal thoroughly describes the mindset of the car salesman and strategies for working with them (don't forget to bring a notebook to the dealer!). I successfully dealt with 2 different Subaru salesmen at 2 different dealerships, an ethical one and a confirmed liar (revealed by my trusty notebook!). Guess who I bought from?

This book will save you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, not to mention provide you with the long lasting satisfaction of NOT GETTING RIPPED OFF!!

It is a very good book for anyone who needs to understand what is the field of logistic management. It is very useful for academic and practice job. Also, the book presents latest topics as supply chain management, materials management, information technology, focus on marketing and a systems view. The cases are short but very interesting: Maybe the cases can be improved with more data base. Lambert's book gives and equilibrium between conceptual and simplicity view, giving a very didactic product. If you need other books for a second level of complexity I can recommend Shapiro (Modeling the SC), Chopra S. y Meindl, P.(Supply Chain Management) among others.

As an executive, I was always weary of dealing with Logistics and was at the mercy of idiots who professed to know about supply chain management. Having read this thorough textbook on logistics, which was very easy to read by the way, the lights turned on!! Its a comprehensive analysis of ALL aspects of the supply chain communicated in easy to understand yet profound simplicity. I GET logistics now. Cannot be duped by warehouse cowboys after reading this text.

I have found this book extremely useful and can reccommend it with the confidence that it will help every person involved in Logistics in either: 1) Revise personal experience in the light of customer service and marketing research. 2) For beginners in the field, to develop a sound conceptual basis in Logistics & Suply Chain Management. I used as reference for my own work and I can assure that following this approach will ensure that different persons with different background & experience can understand the key issues.
I have not rated this book with 5 stars since while it infuses concept, it will not provide system design tools. Perhaps this is better, since it will allow for creativity instead of clonation, the first being what I feel is the best engineering practice everywhere. If you want to contact me about this book, you are welcome.

Frank Barrett, as editor of "The Star," the magazine of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, has become THE guru for classic Mercedes-Benz knowledge. I've been in the Mercedes business for 20 years. I'm considered very knowledgeable about Mercedes-Benz. But when someone talks about acquiring a classic Mercedes, I tell them to first buy this book. It can save a prospective purchaser a lot of money. It also acts as a quick source for statistics I've long since forgotten. It's a great reference book I'll expect to have available at my desk for a long time. It's well written, interesting, and accurate. If you need information about pre-owned or classic Mercedes, buy it.

This is pretty much an essential book if you're thinking about acquiring a Mercedes, or just want to know your way around the line. Great explanations of features. Great info on the various models and how they changed over their years of production. Lots of photos and tables with specs. Succinct and to the point. Definitely worth getting.

will appreciate this fine book . . . an excellent reference for ANY Mercedes-Bens enthusiast, collector, researcher, etc.

Lots of black and white photographs with a brief synopsis covering virtually all "production" (and a few non-production "custom-prototype") Mercedes cars from 1886 thru 2002.

Anecdotal information tells you why your particular model/version of a Mercedes car could be important.

Has an "Investment Rating" potential table.

This book is invaluable to MBZ lovers. It is written with love and experience and knowledge. If you've seen the others in this series (BMW, Jaguar, Corvette, Porsche, etc.) they simply don't compare in quality. The photos are terrific; the advice honest.

This is a must have for any MBZ lover.

The title is very misleading. Remember that this book has not been updated since 1998, so unless you are looking to buy a car older than '98 this is really not a "buyer's guide". It has good coverage of Mercedes historically, so if you want to know about the various models from a collectors point of view this book would be appropriate, if you are in the market for a current model Mercedes ('98-'01) do not waste your time with this book.

As a buyer who was unsure of the model i wanted, but knew i wanted a prancing horse in the garage, this book became well used. The information on each model, especially those that get less other text on the shelves at bookstores, was excellent. The worst part of this book was that it made me want to buy several models - a classic v12 and a newer v8. In summary, when i finally purchased my first ferrari, the pages of this book were as well worn as a shop manual at a sears automotive repair facility.

This book covers most models of Ferraris available for sale and gives an evaluation of the model for potential buyers. It is short on technical aspects and specifications of each car, but it is a guide not an encyclopedia. It is a great book for someone serious about purchasing a Ferrari. It gives advice and insights into the value and desirability of each model under review

If you're just beginning the wonderful and endless journey into the universe of Ferrari, this book is a good place to start. Lots of useful background information, stats on models from inception to 1995 and helpful guidance on investment value. The black-and-white photos give this book a dated look, but the information is accurate and it's worth the price -- most Ferrari guides cost much more than this one. Good luck!

This is a good book for buying a Ferrari, it provides details on each model and provides useful insights. However, Ferraris should be seen in color and this book has only black & white pictures. Ferraris deserve to be seen in their brilliant colors and this book's pictures do not do the models justice. I have often said that there should be a law prohibiting publishers from printing black & white pictures of Ferraris and this book is no exception. Most Ferrari enthusiasts interested in buying a Ferrari would gladly pay more for this book to get color pics.

This is a superb overview of the models you're likely to find for sale or at a local car show. It isn't really a buyers' guide, as you'd be a fool not to do lots more research before buying any Ferrari, particularly one more than a few years old. But, if you're dreaming of buying an older car, or you have a 308 and wonder what all those funny looking old cars are at the FCA meeting, or you are just wondering what all the "real Ferraris have V12s" stuff is about, pick up a copy and read. Highly recommended.

Helped Me Change My Business Model!

Review Date: 2004-07-15
As a real estate agent, I found this book while tyring to change my business model from the traditional 6% commission structure to respond to the concerns of my clients who were willing and more than capable of helping me to sell their home and who expected a financial reward for doing so. This book is exactly what I needed to help me pinpoint the issues and structure a business model that has received overwhelming approval, acceptance, and excitement from my clients!

This book helped me create a fee-for-service business model where my clients pick and choose the services they want for a flat fee. The flat fee structure has saved my clients an average of $16,000 in real estate commissions per transaction! And I am paid a fair value for my services. It's a win-win situation.

It is not a program to discount commissions to get business. Instead, I require my customers to take on many of the time consuming tasks in selling their homes. And they are happy to do it to save the money! In exchange for not using up as much of my time and resources, my clients are rewarded with commission savings and I have more time to do more business.

But the book offers suggestions for many other ways to structure the real estate transaction to save the client thousands while compensating the real estate professional fairly.

This book tells you why the Real Estate industry is changing and why Real Estate agents are in deep trouble. An easy and quite enjoyable read from one of Real Estate's most influential authors.

The book breaks down into two categories (Home selling) and (Home buying).

You learn about preparing the stage for effective marketing of the property for sale. Teaches you how to gather property information to price it right. Tells you how to pre-qualify the buyer and troubleshoot the sale and close the transaction. The book goes into detail of designing a purchase strategy and game plan. Tells you the in's and out's of mortgages and how to get pre-approved. All in all it is a pretty solid little book. If you are an agent or a homebuyer / seller and have not read this book you have missed the boat.

What a wonderful resource. I read this book twice and learned alot from what the author had to say. I purchased two homes in the last 5 years and feel I have not been properly serviced by the professional I used. CONSUMERS must read this book.

By the way, I noticed another review of this book by a real estate agent that did not like what the author had to say. Probably because it is for consumers not real estate agents. In the future, I will hire a professional that has my needs as the goal and not the commision that will be paid to sell me anything with four walls.

Before buying any book on how to ranch, be aware of what NAIS will do to owning cattle or any other livestock and how it messes with title to your property. have any of you heard of the ridiculous program called NAIS(national animal identification system)? It will require all those who own even one chicken, or other livestock animal, to register their premises (negating title to private property), microchip and file birth, death and movement reports so the govt know where those animals are at any moment. The silly reasons given for this program range from bird flu, mad cow, bioterrorist attack or any number of "you need our help" garabage but the real reason is to benefit multi billion dollar corporate agriculture so they can improve their marketability while sticking it to the rest of us.....[...].

HIRE A MANAGER??

That's the most fool thing I think I ever heard of. I can't wait to tell the guys at the local "coffee table" that some fool yuppies bought'em a book and some land, hired a "manager", and are sitting back waiting for the money to roll in. What a hoot.

Maybe you should buy some Alpaca to go on it - I hear there's big money in them. And some Chinchilla - you gotta run a herd of Chinchilla if you want to bring in the big bucks. Oh, and Emu, Ostrich,...well, I'm sure somebody will come along with lots of good opportunities now that you have you a manager.

Meanwhile, I guess the rest of us poor fools who grew up on farms and ranches will just have to get by with no manager, and plain old cows, pigs, and chickens. Actually, we do have a manager on staff - she is black and white, has four legs and a tail, likes her ears scratched, and works for table scraps.

Remember - Behind every successful rancher is a wife with a job in town.

Country Properties is "must" reading for anyone aspiring to relocating in the country, or who has newly arrived in a rural setting and seeking to make a life and a livelihood there. Country Properties is an authoritative, practical, "reader-friendly" instruction guide to buying a place in the country and taking up an agricultural pursuit. John and Jennifer Hoff provide invaluable details on buying, selling, marketing, and production; tips on enhancing your real estate and agricultural investment; helpful overviews for current owners and managers of country farms, ranches, and estates; insights in to the biology and genetics of agribusiness; provide useful resources; technical illustrations; and a great deal of personal stories, anecdotes and humor. The Hoff's informative text is enhanced with original illustrations by Galen Struve.

This is a simple, very quick read that covers all the basics. I read this as part of an MBA course on buying a small business at Babson College. The book's process and lessons were validated by every business owner and professor who spoke. The best thing about this book is that it gives a great understanding of the PROCESS for buying a business, recognizing that the tiny details of each deal will be unique. As a buyer, it's extremely helpful to feel comfortable that you know what's supposed to happen next.

I augmented reading this book by calling and emailing different business brokers to discuss opportunities and listings they had; there was a whole other level of learning that took place through those conversations and meetings, but I think reading this book is the perfect first step.

Finally, a clear, concise and meaty little book you can use!

I found Joseph's book to be highly readable and well organized. Clearly it is directed at the novice business buyer, and presents only the basic material to get the novice started. However, he touches on all the important points in a business acquisition and covers the material well. Although somewhat dated (Publ. 1994), especially regarding business legal forms, it still provides the foundation for more in-depth reading and research. For the first time business buyer, this is the first book to read.

It helped answer my questions of: "What skills do I need to hone in order to succeed?" "How much cash do I need and what price range can I realistically pursue?" "What professional contacts will I need?"...and on that note, it helps you toward being able to talk the legal and financial talk and know where to "keep an eye on" your professional advisors going forward. Thanks to this book as my outline, I now have an actionable plan. I believe I can really do this!

Given the small size of the book the detail is excellent and accurate. The book was published in black and white (including illustrations) which limited the identification of Corvette models. For example, the corvette Anniversary model in the 1980's has body colored alloys and a different sort of pillar on the door.

The book is very useful if you are wanting to purchase a corvette as it has engine numbers, colours and all details from that date so that you know all the real details of the car.

Perhaps the next addition will have colored pictures, considering that most aspects of a car are viewed and it is important to identify the subtle details of a vehicle, especially special features (ie. anniversary cars).

While not a large book (only 176 pages), nor technical by any nature, this book does cover the C1-C5 (up to 1997) in a fantastic "meat and potatoes" manner. I would have liked to have seen even more detail (especially on the specialty Corvette options such as the ZR-1, L-88, ZL-1, etc.), what it did have was excellent and accurate. The price/option sheets and the Serial Number identifiers were an unexpected bonus for a book of this size and price.

Having read Miller's Proactive Sales Management (which I thought was excellent) I was keen to read his ideas on selling.

I have to admit that I found this book had a lot less impact and many of the ideas have been put forward before by Bosworth, Rackham, Thull, Sandler and others. There's nothing wrong with the notion that you should see things from the prospect or customer point of view and that communication should be in their terms - or indeed that the process of selling should be controlled in an intelligent and proactive sense.

But I did find some of the concepts (such as 'buyers look back, salespeople look forwards') to be a potentially dangerous assumption in some industries, such as technology.

So, if you have not had much sales training or have not read many sales books don't let me spoil it for you. If you have, you may find yourself thinking you have heard the concepts before, but the words sounded different.

I loved this book! As a sales professional now in sales management, I bought a copy for everyone on my team. It's a must read for new and veteran sales reps.

I especially appreciate the "tool" approach to selling. It let's me focus on the areas I know I need to improve my team's game. The author's use of stories and examples makes it very easy to implement the ideas presented.

I'd highly recommend it to anyone serious in furthering their own sales career.

I gave a copy to everyone in my sales organization and we have discussed it as a team and individually, using Skip's knowledge as our "language"..."Sellers sell forwards, buyers buy backwards".... In the past two years since implementing this, 80% of my regional sales people have made the 'club' trip each year.

A diamond in the rough!

Understanding the sales process is one that is explained in everyway, shape, and form.......however, ProActive Selling gives you another perspective - - the buyer's. This book shows me how buyers buy and allows me to remain 1 step ahead in the sales process, so to "pull" my customer rather than "push". How to start a meeting (30 second speech) and how to end a meeting (summarize, bridge, and pull) have been the cornerstone to my immediate success! Every tool is easy to understand and can be utilized in every sales situation, no matter if your entry level or a veteran salesperson.

This book put me in the driver seat during negotiations for our house and the real estate agent for the housing development was frequently surprised at some of the things I asked for and applauded me for it. It literally saved me $10,000. I paid no lot premium, only because the book informed me about them! This book was worth every penny to me and then some!

I am a licensed real estate agent in the state of Florida. I must say that this is the most informative book that I've read for the new home buyer. Obviously the authors did their homework. Do not and I repeat do not purchase or build a new home until you read this book!

This was a good book with a lot of valuable information but was missing the one thing I was looking for...how to buy a new home when it's contingent on your existing home selling. I've visited many new home communities that didn't want to give me the time of day when they found out I had to sell my existing house in order to purchase a new home. I had hoped the authors would have discussed the options available for the many people in my situation.

I work in a Real Estate office and am recommending this book to the agents who work there. Most Real Estate Agents don't know how to represent the New Home Buyer. Most will find the property for you, help write a contract (standard one from the home builder) and then wait for their commission check. Oh sure, they'll give you some advice and may even order a independent home inspection, but I have never seen one do all this book says they should. Even if you are buying a resale home, I would recommend this book, every home was new once and the points of researching the builder and development is invaluable. Buy this book along wih a highlighter -- there are gems on every page.
