Supply Chain PerformanceReview Date: 2005-10-12
Since the supply chain is so critical to any commercial activity any assistance that can be provided will enable the supply chain manager to improve his supply chain/s performance, albeit incrementally.
The best service this book provides is the identification of those areas that impact the supply chain. Many supply chain managers may be so focussed on a limited number of areas and overlook some other important areas that impact the supply chain.
Potential solutions to a number of supply chain problems are presented, and these solutions are scientifically based. In other words they have been tested out in empirical, real world situations. So the advice that one can take from these solutions is sound and not just based on someone's opinion.

America's MasterpiecesReview Date: 2001-02-18
Alfred Lord Tennyson once praised Rudyard Kipling for his 'divine fire.' Of the six artists here, Bellows, Sloan, and Henri clearly possessed that fire.
Bellows's unflinching depiction of New York's seedy side reveals a city simultaneously frightening, comical, and beautiful. Sloan's more affectionate touch finds warm delight in the common and mundane. The vitality of Henri's portraits is nothing short of remarkable.
If you buy this book for nothing else, buy it for Sloan. Beautiful, accessible, challenging paintings. And you won't find yourself in a competition with Bill Gates. =)

J Brian Heywood's book about outsourcing is a comprehensive look at the topic from the perspective of both the client considering outsourcing as a way to improve their competitiveness and the outsourcing service provider. Both types of organisations will gain an invaluable insight into the outsourcing world. The book gives sound advice and backs up the advice with loads of actual examples. The author explains how outsourcing, if handled correctly, has the potential to produce real tangible saving for all types of organisations, not just large ones. He also explains how outsourcing arrangements can fail and what clients and service providers should do to limit their risks of failure.
The book answers the questions:
· Why outsource?
· What are the benefits of outsourcing?
· Which functions should an organisation should consider outsourcing?
· What are the alternatives to full outsourcing?
· How does an organisation choose an outsourcing service provider?
The author argues the case for a `Business Satellite' approach to outsourcing where the client and the service provider establish a separate organisation that is jointly owned so both can share in the future benefits generated from the outsourcing agreement.
I would say that this book is a must read for any organisation looking for ways to improve their competitiveness in today's market.
