The book shows you step by step how to draw cars.

This is a helpful book whether you are drawing for the first time or have been doing it for years!

It goes from simple shapes and line structure all the way through shading and adding detail.

Definitely a must for anyone who wants to add cars to their visual story telling or even an automotive design student.

Just remember to be patient with this book.

It takes a while to get the hang of it.

Once you do, you'll be fine!

This book has many examples of step-by-step drawings. The only drawback might be that there is very little explanation. You learn mainly by copying the examples. It has a great selection of different cool cars and vehicles to draw. Equally good for young teens or adults.

This is a must have book if you own a 1965-89 911. I found the book to be as detailed as a shop manual on the subjects it covers yet with the friendly writing that anyone can comprehend.

This book covers the basics like changing your oil to more complex tasks like fixing common oil leaks and fixing various transmission problems. -all with many excellent photos of the procedures outlined.

I've read and referred to this book countless times both for enjoyment and for reference to maintain my Porsche.

This has got to be one of the most well put-together automotive do-it-yourself books I've seen in some time, whether Porsche or otherwise. The photos are extremely clear and detailed, in contrast to most auto manuals (even the factory oftentimes). The instructions are informative and even present alternatives or commentary on aspects of the project (for example, mentioning that while the H4 headlight update gives better lighting, some people prefer the profile of the original earlier headlamps on SCs). In addition, the initial summary boxes, which give statistics such as complexity of the job, time necessary, approximate cost, tools needed, etc. makes it easier to select a project for your next weekend, based on how much free time you have available. An excellent publication.

Patience and the Porsche is a fast read that combines intrigue, romance, fun and a whole new perspective on the organizing profession. It offers something that is missing from many of the organizing television shows and articles about organizing: insight into the mind of both the professional organizer and the client. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the process of organizing. You'll find it inspiring and motivating.

The Professional Organizing industry has finally arrived--we now have a novel written about us! And better still, it's written by a Professional Organizer. Val Sgro has provided readers with a "behind the scenes" view into the organizing world. I loaned my book to my Mom who enjoyed it and gained a better understanding of what POs do. I highly recommend this book to all POs (both new and veteran) as well as anyone interested in the organizing process. Val has created a fun, easy, and worthwhile read.

This is a great little read -- totally entertaining and nicely paced without a single dull passage. Informative, too ... If you're not careful, you'll find yourself doing a little organizing on your own ... if Patience, the professional organizer, can reform her "hopeless client", the reader will surely find ways for self-improvement as well.

I recently received this book by Randy Leffingwell while in the midst of purchasing an older Porsche. The book effectively pointed out the pro's and con's of the various years and was quite effective in pointing me at the things to watch out for durring the Pre Purchase Inspection. As a direct result of reviewing the book and focusing on the inspection I was able to pinpoint problems and follow-up with expert sources who respectively advised me to walk away from the purchase and refocus my efforts on a new model. Great book for any Porsche addict's reference library.

It gives you no nonsense insight into the world of 356s. Profound knowledge that would cost tens of thousands of Euros or even more Dollars to acquire the "learning by doing" and "trial and error" way.
On top of that it is enjoyable and easy to read.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. As a longtime Porsche 911 and Boxster owner my wife and I recently decided to find and buy a Porsche 356 series car to drive, play with and experience in our spare time. This is a great book for the beginner or someone, like myself, almost ready to buy his first 356. This book is helping me a lot as the writer used his own experience from ownership to explain every aspect of this adorable car. Mr. Schrager even tries to explain the feeling and joy of owning and driving the 356 in metaphysical ways as you can not explain, by the means of logic, why people get so deeply in love with this car. You can read from cover to cover, you can use as reference or you can just open the book randomly and you'll hooked. After two hours of reading, someone offers you either a brand new 911 carrera or a 356...chances are you'll choose the "old one".

I recently purchased a '67 912, satisfying my mid-life crisis for a Porsche. I researched several books to get the information needed to make an intelligent buy. I wish there was a book like this one for the 912. If you are considering a 356, this is the source book for you. Valuable information is provided on spotting problem cars and tips on what to examine. I especially like the information on ... cars as I have spotted may of the same frauds. I am close to getting a 356 and have targeted two and want to use the information this book provided. Porsche freaks, get this book!

I've owned 356s for years. Jim Schrager's book told me things that I needed to know and didn't before I read this. The book contains useful, real world information without the fluff of a coffee table book. This is a must read for all new and soon to be new 356 owners. Particularly useful were the nut and bolt nuggets that come from years of owning all models of 356s. The only other way to get this information is years of pain.

This book was certainly an interesting read. It provided some good insight into the history of the Porsche 911 and the innovations that were made. I was somewhat disappointed however in that I was hoping the book would tell me what was good or bad about a particular model; it didn't. I also would have liked photos of the models being discussed incorporated with the text. Overall, I enjoyed the book and better understand the decisions made by Porsche as the company matured.

The book flows from topic to topic beautifully, making for a engaging read. This has been the best Porsche book I have read, and it was worth every penny. Randy's book sits prominently in my family room along side other Porsche books and is one of the few that is up to speed with some of the latest offerings from Zuffenhausen. Writing a book on the 911 is nearly impossible because there is so much out there. You have to know where to start and where to end,--and just how much to stuff in the middle. Randy pulls this off with a great selection of photos, most never before seen, and accurate detail of the nuances of the famous 911. The only negative I can find is what puts a book in the top 5% of books, and that is matching copy to photographs,--on the same page. This is extremely hard to do because it is generally unpredictable, where one paragraph or photograph will start or stop. That, along with a handfull of errors in photo IDs keeps it from perfection by design itself but it's nicely assembled and beautifully printed. Anyone with a 911 in their garage should have this book to help explain their addiction to normal people.

Let me confess right off, I absolutely love cars designed by Porsche, I have always found the car to be sexy and elegant. When i see someone pull up next to me in a Carerra with the top down, I just sit and stare with envey. As for this book, it is quite simply fantastic, it is easy to read and well researched, almost scholarly and the images are crisp and well placed throughout the book. You see the evolution of the automaker and get a real feel for what has made the company so successful. If you have any interest in Porsche or just cars in general, then I highly recommend this book...pricy yes, but well worth it...the car and this book.

Most serious enthusiasts of early Porsches, whether 356s or 911s or 912s know Jim Schrager's name. He is a recognized author of several 356 and 911/912 Porsche related books, and is the contributing editor of the 356 (Porsche) Registry Magazine who writes the "Marketwatch" column. He is the author of the very well received book "Buying, Driving, and Enjoying the Porsche 356" and has been a significant contributor to the 356 Registry organization and the Porsche hobby in general. Recently, he released his new book "Buying, Driving and Enjoying the Porsche 911 and 912", a must have book if you're interested in early 911's or 912's. This book is based on long time ownership and knowledge of early 911s and 912s. The book was edited by Gordon Maltby, who is the author of the another book "Porsche 356 and RS Spyders", and who is, and has been for many years, the Managing Editor for the 356 Registry Magazine. Between these two guys, there is a huge wealth of 356 Porsche experience, background, and information. The same goes for the early 911/912 models written about in the new book. It is an excellent work with many full color pictures written on a personal level based on extensive prior ownership and experience.

If you're going to make room in the marketplace for yet another 911 book, it better be something different. This book isn't as big, expensive, or technically comprehensive as Frère's "Porsche 911 Story" but it doesn't pretend to be. There are a lot of books it isn't, and if you're reading this review you're probably already comparing this to them, so let's focus on what this book is: a down-to-earth concentration on the "long-hood" cars and how to decide to buy one.

While the 912-specific information is integrated inline rather than a selected focus, most of the information in the book is equally applicable to both the 4- and 6-cylinder cars. Like other Porsche 'transitional / hybrid' cars ( e.g. 914/6 ) there are few single references that comprehensively cover the unique car - you wind up with one set of books for the shell, and another for the driveline -- but even the factory workshop manuals are organized like that.

Schrager is clear on the long-hood cars' "quirks" that range from production teething issues with the very early (short-wheelbase) cars to rust to age and wear (the newest of these cars is 35 years old) to systems that were both advanced for their time and primitive by contemporary comparison. Such as the short-run 2,4 CIS 911T made only in the last half of the 1973 model year, or the 1-year-only 1972 oil tank, or the 2-years-only ('70-'71) interim pull clutch.

What really separates this book is the first-hand case-study format. You don't buy a longhood car like a new car, with the opportunity to specify color, trim level, and option list. You rarely even get the chance to choose between multiple examples. Rather, cars come to you one at a time, and you have to decide: "Do I want to buy this car, at this price, at this time?"

A knowledgeable buyer, equipped with the detailed information in this book, along with stories of everything going right (and horribly wrong) is well-positioned to pounce on the right deal and pass on the others.

At $30-ish this book is cheap insurance in avoiding an expensive mistake on a bad example, a fun read in its own right, and a worthwhile companion to the other books on your reference shelf. You can't have just one 911 reference book, but if you're only going to have a few, this book should be in the collection.

But if you think this book will tell you somthing about some important weekneses of the cars, what to look out for when buying it, which cars to stay away from, you will need another book. But a good look into what's out there and a few facts about all the cars.

As a fairly new Porsche 944 owner, I have to say that this book has filled in a lot of gaps about the history of the car. The pictures are terrific, especially the opening few pages with visual comparisons from year to year from the front, side, and rear. The only thing lacking is clearer coverage of the one-offs and special editions (such as the 968 Turbo). The author does clarify this omission by saying that the book only covers models that were in general production. The 968 Turbo was built for competition only and not meant for the street.

An absoulte must buy for the 924/944 owner. the book clearly guides you thru all models from 1975 to 1995, including the Turbos. All photographs are in color and the details of each model year are discussed. The book also includes specs and import numbers. Almost all options for each year are listed, a big plus when checking out what came with your car.
