This book is outstanding! For years I have used the techniques presented in this book. There is no question about it, the techniques presented here will help your group improve and grow.

I have used this book in Japan with the groups that I work with and every time I do, they always sound better and play better. It is interesting to see how the Japanese conductors use and re-use the material presented.

There are so few outstanding books on this topic that this book truly rises to the top. You can employ the techniques in this book at all levels, early, middle, advanced and pro. After you try it you'll see what I mean. My middle school kids love the challenge and the semi-pro's in Japan I work with love it as well! It is both intellectually stimulating and fun.

Along with this book, I suggest buying the performer copies and video. Take some time to really understand the way Lisk presents the information and then work the techniques into your routine(s). Once you get the hang of it, there are literally hundreds of ways to manipulate the techniques, so find some that help your group the most and don't overplay them - change them around - so as to keep the group moving ahead and growing.

I can't say enough good things about this book and the techniques it offers - I think if you ask any great conductor about them they will all agree - this is indeed a fantastic teaching tool and a great approach to learning!

I got the manual to help with all the small problems I was having with a car that I recently purchased. Not only does this help with those problems but it also shows a complete engine teardown ... Step by Step!

This is an essential guide for anyone who relies on one of these cars to "get there" and who doesn't have the trunk stuffed full of money to afford professional mechanics. The manual has an abundance of great step-by-step photos that enable you to get all the pieces back in the car in the order they came out! I have successfully used the book as a guide to change the brake shoes and pads, rebuild the cooling system, remove/replace the alternator, adjust the carburetor and much more. And all without so much as a highschool shop background. I conservatively estimate the book has saved me several hundred dollars that would have otherwise gone to the local mechanic. Even if you don't do the wrench turning yourself this manual will give you a good idea of what may be wrong with the car before you take it in.

Thoroughly excellent read. I found the first issue at a shop in Junction City KS and I have collected everything I could find after reading. It's a twisted dark gothy comic full of psychotic imagery and humour. I bought the trade paperback so I could have it in the car for reading anytime while the issues are safely bagged in my box.

If you like dark twisted gothic trippy stuff then you should get this book!!..

I have used this book for several years and the experience just gets better and better. Today (two days before Thanksgiving 2004) I had students use manipulatives they made to give presentations in front of their class. While the book says grades 1-3, I don't use below second grade and have used it for ESOL students up to fifth grade. We gave presentations on the pilgrims to a third and fourth grade. They manipulatives are made from paper, tape and ribbon. They move and can be looked at from several different angles. Students love to make them and talk about them. I'm doing the Penguin book next and will look for the science/ human body books too.

A highly readable and provocative investigation of what the Bible REALLY says about the rapture, the antichrist, and the millennium. Shows how popular TV preachers misinterpret biblical passages. Examines the history of this kind of misinterpretation and its cynical, manipulative use by unscrupulous "Christians." Highly recommended antidote to much that passes for biblical interpretation today.

The writing just okay. (It kinda reads like really wierd porn). But the Art is amazing. Yay Dave!
