Drama-Free Bree...I think NOT!!!

Newcomer Angel Mechelle brings readers a sizzling page-turner with her debut novel "Another Woman's Husband". Main character Breanna Michaels (Bree) is a single mother of two young children who is no stranger to drama. Although she has been through the wringer and back with her children's fathers and has moved to Florida for a fresh start, nothing can prepare her for the antics of her latest love interest. Not too long after her move, things get interesting when Bree responds positively to propositions posed by her neighbor's husband, Dre. Though she knows it is wrong, Bree embarks on this relationship that was pretty much doomed from the start. Not only is Dre married with children, but Breanna is cordial with his wife Neecy - and the couple lives right across the hall!!!

Once the affair is in full swing it doesn't take long for Bree to see that Dre will NEVER be hers. Despite revelations involving domestic abuse, illegitimate children, and drug-abuse, Bree is "standing by Neecy's man", lol. Her life has taken on drastic changes, but Bree is certain that Dre is her soul mate and will not back down. Neecy is putting up one hell of a fight and so the saga goes.

I love the cover of this novel and find that there would be no other title more fitting than the one Angel designated. At times I wanted to strangle Bree for the poor choices she made, but that's the whole idea - creating characters readers love to hate! I wish some of the situations would have been omitted in order to provide a more solid closure, though I am aware of a sequel in the works. Still, I feel with the tremendous information provided in this fabulous debut, it should be a single book. Angel demonstrates great story telling skills and I without a doubt look forward to a new story from her.

Another Woman's Husband is a HOT Book....Get It!

I was really looking foward to a long slow read when I got this book. After the first chapter, I couldn't put it down. The story is capivating, and I found myself all caught up in the characters. The emotions that Bree went through and all the levels of pain were enough to really make you care about her struggle. Angel really pulled me in as a reader and made me care about what happened in the book. There were times while I was reading I got mad at Bree for being in love with 'Dre.

This is not a typical novel, it's a soul wrenching fictional account of a woman whose heart is is in the hands of a man who claims to love her for who she really is, and that would mean the world to most women.

There were surprises, and there were some tearful moments, but there was also happiness. I loved this story from the first page to the very last. It was well written, and the characters popped off the pages. I can't wait for Angel's next book

Angel Mechelle is debuting in the literary world with Another Woman's Husband. Another Woman's Husband, is a fast pace novel, that extremely captivating and graphic. I honestly could not put this book down, and finish it in one day. The character is so real, that many women can actually relate to this story. The difficulties, the entire obstacle that stands in the way, the lies, deceit, love and sex is all in this novel. If you've been the "Mistress" in a relationship, the wife, and friends, you would not want to put this book down. You will read all about how the Husband, can be very manipulative once they learn all about your past, then again that's any Man, if they want to cheat their going to.
How a man slowly luring the mistress into a world of deceptions, illusions, making you believe that he's going to leave his wife for you. Here is a little something for all the readers, if you haven't read this book yet, what are you waiting for?

Bree Michaels is young, sexy, and single raising two beautiful children along. She never wanted to be someone's slide, and definitely never wanted to be "the other woman". As soon as I heard Dre's work truck pull off, I sat up in bed with my head against the headboard and tried to visualize what was about to happen. Dre was walking out of my life, he was going back to his wife and there was nothing I can do about it. I held the cigar in the air and looked at it the same way Dre did before I put the fire to the ends, and inhaled. I stared at the ceiling, and tried to come up with a plan to make him say. I started to flashback of everything Dre's and I went through, since we started seeing each other.
Angel, your first novel exemplifies your skills and talent as an extraordinary writer. This novel is hard-hitting and extremely deep, very believable. I support this author 100%, with her passion for writing, it shows thru in her first novel, which I hardly find in a first tine writer.

I WAS GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO READ THE MANUSCRIPT BEFORE IT HIT THE PUBLISHING DEPT THEN THE SHELVES. ANGEL HAS WRITTEN A NOVEL THAT MANY, MANY WOMEN CAN RELATE TO. THE UPS AND DOWNS, OBSTACLES, BLISS, PAIN, LIES, LOVE, SEX AND HOPE ARE ALL PORTRAYED IN THIS NOVEL AND ONCE YOU BEGIN TO READ IT, EXPERIENCE IT, RELIVE IT (IF YOU'VE BEEN THE OTHER WOMAN, THE WIFE OR THE HUSBAND), YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF NOT WANTING TO PUT THE BOOK DOWN. THE STORY LINE IS DEFINITELY BELIEVABLE BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT A MISTRESS IS FACED WITH WHEN CROSSING THE LINES OF MATRIMONY. WHEN A MAN KNOWS WHAT TO SAY AFTER LEARNING OF YOUR PAST HEARTBREAKS, YOUR PAST PAINS, YOUR VULNERABILITY, SLOWLY LURING YOU IN TO A WORLD OF DECEPTION, ILLUSION AND FAIRY TALES, THEN ONCE HE HAS YOU, YOU BEGIN TO THINK YOU'RE THE ONE HE LOVES. YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE CONFIDENT AND STRONG. ALL ALONG HE'S PLAYING THE MISTRESS AND THE WIFE...PREYING ON THEM. DECEIVING ALL PARTIES INCLUDING HIS CHILDREN. WHAT COMES NEXT...THE NIGHTMARE, THE ALONE NIGHTS, THE WONDERING IF HE IS STILL SLEEPING WITH HIS WIFE WHEN HE'S NOT IN YOUR BED OR SLEEPING WITH ANOTHER WOMAN. HOW IRONIC FOR THE MISTRESS TO GET UPSET DEMANDING ANSWERS WHEN SHE ACCEPTED THIS ARRANGEMENT ONCE SHE OPENED HER HEART AND HER LEGS. THIS STORY IS FULL OF SURPRISES AND WHEN YOU THINK IT'S ABOUT TO END, THERE'S ANOTHER SURPRISE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER WAITING TO POP OUT AND HIT YOU WITH ANOTHER DEVASTATING BLOW.

ANGEL, YOUR FIRST NOVEL IS A TREMENDOUSLY WRITTEN STORY THAT IS SURE TO SURPASS ANY OTHER BOOKS IN THIS TOPIC. IT'S DEEP, HARD HITTING, IN YOUR FACE TRUTH AND MOST OF ALL...BELIEVABLE.

I AWAIT YOUR NEXT NOVEL.

This book is great for anyone interested in surfing. The chapter addressing the subject of 'fear' is particularly good. There's also a good section on surfing-specific exercises to keep in shape.

It's written with a lot of aloha spirit and has a nice dedication to the Queen of Makaha, Rell Sunn.

As a younger woman and recent breast cancer survivor, I found this book to be a great source of healing. It was validating and uplifting to read testimonies from other women that faced challenges in their lives. Sister Surfer reminded me of what's important in life: fun in the sun! After reading this book, I had my first surf lesson and had a blast. I can't wait to hit the waves again!

1/2 Inspiration + 1/2 How To = A great read.

I have sand caught between the pages of this book, because it motivated me to get in the water ASAP. A highly recommended read for those who seek the waves. Kia Afcari and Mary Osborne have shown me that surfing is more than a sport, it is rebirth.

Sister Surfer is a great inspiration. I picked up the book for a friend but had to buy a second copy for myself.

Who doesn't want to surf? Starting is the hardest part. Sister Surfer de-mystifies surfing and makes it accessible to everyone. You do not need to be twenty, athletic, and bikini clad. The wide range of women of different ages and experiences featured in the book help to reinforce the idea that anyone can surf. Women like camaraderie and this book makes you feel like you are part of a community even if you haven't started surfing yet. The lessons in the book can be taken into every other part of your life where courage needs to overcome fear.

The book is beautifully done with lots of graphics and great photos of women with the huge smiles that come from conquering fear or achieving a dream. The style of the book allows you to either skim for relevant topics or read it from cover to cover.

Kia also captures the enemies such as Darth Maul and Darth Sideus. With the podrace beginning at the end, it just begs you to get the next one! -Sideus

I love manga, I love Star Wars, so it goes without saying that this is a perfect combination. The Storyline is followed great in this two part set of graphic novels and I love the animation used. Most of the characters I think were well dipicted. It was really neat to see them in a whole different style. I highly reccomend this to anyone interested.

I found a copy of this a while back at this little comics store near where I lived, and read it. I liked it so much that I started to search for one of the autographed copies, which I just recently purchased. Kia Asamiya's art is incredibly detailed, the story is rich, and this makes a wonderful addition to anyone's collection of manga. Dark is formidible while being adorable at the same time (I identify with the lack of directional skills!), and all of the other characters manifest traits that make them just as interesting. Buy this book!

I really liked this series it will make an excellent addition to any manga fan's collection! It's a great fantasy/action series. Dark (the main character) is a young swordsman in training who ends up becoming the phantom-saint of the red phoenix, but in order to be accepted as a true phantom saint he must arrive in Oukoku in a short amount of time, being helped by his spirit-guide Kyo. Too bad Dark has no sense of direction, and he keeps running into dangerous people on the way! It's a great story, with great artwork, and keeps getting better! Plus this is the original version! If you liked Lodoss War, you'll luv this too!=)

Apartheid revealed!
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-12-16
As Ralph Ellison did in mid-1900s America, Mphahlele shrewdly conveys the actualities of a miserable, mendacious government, and its innumerable crimes upon its native inhabitants, in a way that does not turn off readers not of his own race prior to the story actually being told. He, again like Ellison, makes us (caucasians) aware of a central social reality of which most of us are ignorant: It's better to be hated than it is to be ignored, (ergo, 'I felt like a bull without a China shop.').

Mphahlele is an angry man, but he keeps his anger in check throughout this fine work and artfully renders his story, as well as that of millions of other unfortunate natives of South Africa enduring an unenviable existence during the Apartheid period.

Correctly so, Mphahlele has no use whatever for the Catholic (or any other) church and their superficial soup kitchens. It's not that he's an athiest -- it's just that he observed the perfect collusion between the church and the heinous government during the Apartheid years as black people were treated as chattle on the horrific 'locations' where they were forced to live. The church was no help in effecting change for these aggrieved people -- The church could never overcome the mentality of 'White Man's Burden' and 'Manifest Destiny'.

I also loved Mphahlele's ability to touch on the good times (as a boy, swimming in the local creek with his peers), and the humorous ones as well, (an old scoundrel gets run out of town for copulating with a goat).
If you want a look at Apartheid as it truly was, no rose-colored glasses, then don't bother reading some ivory-tower fantasy of a British author -- read Mphahlele, a highly-educated and accomplished man who endured the truth of those most heinous times.

Review Date: 1999-02-17
Before the dawning of the next Millenium, every discerning reader should have read this classic, by pre-eminent author Es'kia Mphahlele. In his true-life drama, Mphahlele chronicles the life of a young Black man growing up in South Africa. From the onset, he takes his readers through the layers of his multi-dimensional life. In the spirit of Jean Toomer, the grace and sophistication of Nelson Mandela and the furor of Toni Morisson, Mphahlele offers no apologies about all that has unfolded in his midst. He celebrates women, challenges racism without showing bitterness. Like no other Black author, he is not ashamed to showcase his tenderness. All in all, he propels us forward and with Alice Walker's caution, and Sindiwe Magona's humour he clarifies the philosophy connectednism. He takes his readers from his rural roots of Pietersburg, to the lights and bustle of Johannesburg, and finally settles them on the rumbles and tranquils of West Africa. What is prominent throughout Second Avenue is his refusal to take no for an answer. Down Second Avenue is a magnifying glass that portrays a lifetime that is more refreshing than Vivaldi's concerto. He comes across-subtly so-as more of an uncolonized African who is not afraid to paint an elegant watercolour of his stumbles, fumbles, falls and moving ons. In my opinion, he is one of the the 5 best novelists of the 20th century.

This book is a wonderful product of the Decade of the Brain. Written by two concerned professionals in the social work field, it emphasizes that the medication of patients is a true partnership between the patient and professional. Only then will many patients truly comply with the medication that they would be better off taking.

In the coming years, the role of the social worker in the treatment of the mentally ill will continue to grow. Books such as this help social workers to define their roles, which are critical ones. The mentally ill deserve the very best that the social work profession has to offer. Kia Bentley and Joseph Walsh do a great job in compiling the information needed to ensure that the collaboration between the social worker and patient is an informed one. This book is a fitting start to a new century of more effective treatment of some of our most vulnerable citizens.

The graphic novel/comic genius of Asamiya has earned him fans of previous Dark Angel manga fantasy graphic novels, and this, covering Leen's Destiny, continues the story. Familiarity with the prior novels will lend to an appreciation of this ongoing story of Leen, the Phantom saint of the Blue Dragon who battles evil. The comics are in black and white, the action is unrelenting.
