Haynes repair manual help me DIY my S-10 in FAR EAST-Taiwan

this book has helped me repair my S-10 on many a saturday.thanks guys.would like to see more on vacum lines need help there. i have three lines in back of model 220 tbi,cannot find one line .can you help.one to map ok.one to front of tbi.third ? 4.3,v-6 s-10 truck vin z. can you help?

i've used haynes almost exclusively starting with my dodge dakota, then subaru, honda accord, and i'll buy and use another for my dodge ramcharger. better for the home mechanic with no training - these books actually follow the service manuals for the vehicle. chiltons might do for the semi-trained mechanic, but i find hard to follow. no book will be perfect - this helps a half way smart home mechanic the best.

Great manual as haynes always does. If you are a do it yourselfer or just want to learn all about your vehicle so you dont get hosed, this is the book. If you dont own alldata, this is the cheaper route and almost as good.

I found this book pretty usefull for my 1988 Trooper 4 Cylinder. It is specific to troopers and pickups and hence covers the topics in much more detail than the Chilton's Manual which tries to fit in too many models into that book. My advice is to buy this one and if u still have cash to spare, buy the Chilton's as a second refernce. BTW, I got mine in Pep Boys for < $15.

Good book. I was able to use this book to fix up my 1990 Trooper. Details were accurate and procedures were good. Worth
the money.

Lacks Diesel engine information. The rest is allright. I expected that *some* small parts, e.g. washers, bolts, bearings, would have exact sizes pointed, to make a substitution easier. Anyway, for ISUZU TROOPER this book seems to be the best, if you don't have ISUZU's factory service manual.

I have recently purchased, in Saudi Arabia, an Isuzu Trooper built in the USA as a GMC Trailblazer. It is a LWB 2.6 fuel injected beauty. I have tried everything to get a repair manual in UK where I go on vacation, but with no success. I finally tried Amazon and Bingo, exactly what I wanted. Hope fully I will not be needing it too often, but after a few days studying, it seems to have everything I may need in a clear and concise manner. Typical Haynes in fact.

This book proved very helpful in performing a recent clutch replacement. It contains alot of useful information on correct sequence of removal and kept us on track for the replacement. We have also used the book to help with a custom stereo installation.

A very helpful book.

This manual has guided me through a number of repairs over the past few years, however it is certainly _not_ a replacement for a factory service manual. The underlying problem with this manual is that it tries to cover too many different vehicles, and while it attempts to address the nuances of each model, it invariably leaves quite a bit to be desired.

I have a 1991 Isuzu Rodeo 3.1L V6, a model which is not covered too well. The pictures in the manual don't usually help, since they are irrelevant to my vehicle. Especially with regard to the engine. My particular year's engine might as well not exist according to this manual. Just recently my water pump went out on me, and replacing it was entirely different from that described in this manual. The picture of the 3.1L engine in the Haynes Manual was not mine! (this is just one example of when i've been let down).

Though an experienced DIYer or mechanic will know how to fix most things in his car, this manual was little help aside of general auto repair information. Indeed, I learned a lot simply by "flying blind" into much of my auto repair, making the manual irrelevant.

The conclusion: Call Isuzu (Helm publications, I think) and order their service manual, which I haven't done yet, but I plan on doing. I'm pretty sure that will be vehicle specific and should be much more detailed/helpful for your particular vehicle. When you call, they might ask you for 2 different versions UCR or UCR/S. I *think* the standard ROdeo is the UCR version, UCR/S I believe is for the Rodeo Sport (amigo?)].

Has good instructions, but doesn't cover all information

This book is a very good account of the process a person had to go through in order to gain employment at the Subaru-Isuzu and the working conditions that were present at the plant at the time the author worked there. There continue to be problems at the plant with them being cited by IOSHA (Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration) on August 20,1998 for not recording all safety and health violations present at the plant. The company did not document approximately 567 Manpower employees who had recordable injuries and/or illness during the years 1995 - 1997. The company also did not provide a copy of the OSHA Log 200 in its entirety for employees for the years 1995 - 1997. The reader from Lafayette needs to get the facts straight before making statements about the low OSHA statistics. The use of "temporary"workers to keep OSHA numbers down is only one way the company has manipulated, and continues to manipiulate, the system and the workers. Laurie Graham has been, and continues to be, open to imput from workers from Subaru-Isuzu and the conditions that exist there. She welcomes workers to contact her with both positive and negative information, seeking updates on the changing atmosphere and attitudes that exist as a plant grows and changes.

This book is a first person account of working in a Japanese transplant auto assembly facility. Author Laurie Graham worked "undercover" in the Subaru-Isuzu plant in Lafayette, Indiana when it opened up. She finds that the fabled "Japanese system" cannot live up to its promises to the worker in the absence of a labor union. The book is very well written: clear, substantial, and full of insights into work life and the techniques used to maintain control over the workers. I have read this book.. What a work of fiction! I work at the same auto plant 'Laurie Graham' worked (worked??) and wrote about.. This book seems to have been written with a pre-determined opinion.. She had it in her mind before she worked in the plant to knock the SIA work place. She writes about a few months that she worked at SIA.. Well after most of us have worked at SIA (5-9yrs Union Free) Zero layoffs. Low OSHA's comparied to other autoplants and great pay and benifits! This book seems to give most of us at SIA a good laugh! Try Reading Ben Hampers 'Rivet Head'.. Good for a laugh also.. but much more accurate.

Super!super!super! this book is designed for the person with technical know how. I found a wealth more of information than Haynes Isuzu manual,better diagrams and troubleshooting flow charts.just to name one instance Haynes stated the distrubutor for the 4ZE1 was not user servicable(needed to be taken in to shop), but Chilton gave me an exploded view of all the parts. Awesome!! If you want to get deep this is the book.

To my surprise with little mechanical knowledge or experience, I was able to understand surprisingly more than I expected. However, there were still procedures I could only understand up to a point where I had to skip on to another section unless I happened to be with a mechanical minded person who could explain in simpler terms. The biggest part of a "4 instead of 5 rating" may even be my incompetence rather than the publisher's writing ability. No doubt it is the best you can get without spending $400-$500 for the auto manufacturer's manuals. Filled with tips and tricks of auto repair which alone are worth the cost of the book.

This would be a great book for someone new to working on cars. I felt they tried to include too many models to be specific. The pictures and diagrams are usually not of my truck. The general information and the plan of action/troubleshooting sections are good.

I am giving it three stars because I have a 1988 Izusu Trooper. This book contains more information on the Isuzu cars and doesn't give enough info on the trucks. I have ordered the Chilton's Isuzu Amigo/Pick-Ups/Rodeo/Trooper Repair Manual. Hopefully that will be better. If you have an Isuzu car. You might find this more usefull.

During my 37 years of driving I have probably owned a dozen repair manuals, most of which rated 3 to 4 stars. This Chilton's manual barely makes a 2. It covers too many years and models to cover more than the most rudimentary maintenance in any depth; there are too few illustrations; and it does not contain one exploded view of my 3.2L Trooper engine. There are parts on this engine that cannot be even found in this manual! Let's hope Haynes publishes one soon.

I fully agree with the earlier reviewer. This book covers to many models and lacks the details for any specific model. I ended up buying the Hayes Manual which I find much more usefull for my 1988 Trooper II 4 Cyl. My advice is to buy the Hayes and if u still have money to spare then buy this one as a second reference. The Hayes book is also much cheaper btw, < $15 .

I agree with the other reviewers, which makes it unanimous so far. This book is useless. Here is a good example, I only bought this book so I could locate my "engine Coolant Sensor" on my 1994 3.2L Isuzu Rodeo. I found two brief spots in the book that mention this sensor. The two pictures of the sensor were blurry, B&W, dark pictures of a mystery 2.8L engine, which of course is nothing like mine. The instructions are even worse.

Wow that helps.

From what I hear, you are better off spending three times as much for the Helm OEM service manual which will at least only cover two years of the same models this one does. I've heard the Helm version has way more pictures and is more complete as well. Just stay away from this thing and you'll be doing yourself a favor.

Good documentaion in a manual should not be written as though the reader has prior knowledge or hands on experience with the item being described. Haynes does a much better job of photo illustrations along with detailed instructions that are so precise that you accomplish a task with no prior expereience. Chilton's Maual leaves the reader asking "what is that".
Definitely not user friendly!

This book covers to many models to be of reall use to one specific model. I have a 1988 Trooper II with a four cylinder engine and found the Hayes Manual much better not to mention cheaper.

The manual is fine for doing work on auxiliary systems, but no good at all for engine work or getting specifications about engines.
