A Thinking Book

The book is very good. I loved it. It is a thinking book becasue it haves crimes in it and you would have to think of what happened in that chapter. Then in the back of the book you would read it and it will tell you the answer that if you are right or not. I would tell other people to read this book because it is so good. The kids will think more to the book and start reading more and will start enjoying books. What are some of your thoughts of the book?

A perfect children's book!

I remember reading all the available Encyclopedia Brown books back in grade school, and have already started collecting them for my children! I would recommend these books to all parents with grade-school level children. The mysteries in the book are relatively simple to figure out, but they do make the children think, and it can be fun watching your kids trying to solve the puzzles!

WHY WE GIVE THANKS

I BOUGHT THIS NOT KNOWING IF MY 4 YEAR OLD AND 2 1/2 YEAR GRANDCHILDREN WOULD SIT THROUGH THE ENTIRE READING. THEY DID AND PAID ATTENTION TO WHAT WAS BEING READ!!! OBVIOUSLY THIS BOOK IS NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN THIS SMALL TO READ BY THEMSELVES BUT IT'S NEVER TOO EARLY TO READ TO THEM AND TEACH THEM THE TRUE MEANINGS OF OUR VARIOUS HOLIDAYS AND THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY - THIS STORY OFFERS BOTH. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT FOR THIS AGE GROUP AND OLDER. A HINT - I READ THE STORY ALONG WITH INVOLVING THEM WITH SOME EASY THANKSGIVING CRAFT PROJECTS TO HELP REINFORCE THE STORY LINE.

Very good, yet simple Thanksgiving book

I have a three year old, and this story is just right for her. It is simple enough that it keeps her attention, but it provides details such as why the Pilgrims left England, the harsh winters they had to endure, the different tribes of Native Americans they encountered and became indebted to, and it explains the harvest feast and why the pilgrims were thankful. I recommend this if you want something that gives a simple yet not overly simple explanation of the first Thanksgiving.

I love this book. The short stories are great reading specially while on vacation. This book has many little love stories that warm your heart. Clean, pure and romantically written. I read pretty much all of Rosamunde Pilcher's books and love her style of writting!

I love Rosamunde Pilcher and this is just another great read of many of her writings combined. The following stories were my favorites in this book:

Flowers in the Rain-is all about loving and letting go of a dear old friend Mrs. Farquhar, who lived in the 'Big House,' and loved children.

The Doll's House-was a great story about a brother who made his sister a dollhouse after his father had promised, but then passes away.

Cousin Dorothy-was another of my favorite stories about learning to love a difficult person.

Skates-another great story about two sisters, competing with one another.

Each of the stories were great and is sure to delight a reader who needs a quick 'feel good,' read.

I loved this book! It was cool how Nick tried to save the farm all by hiself but had to get help in the end. I was confused though. The first twin foals were black not brown. but then I figured out why they had brown colts. If you love animal ark, or just like horses, you should read this book.

This is an extremely good book but also very sad. I explained a little about what happened in this story to my mother (who reads animal ark books after i do) and because she doesn't like sad books she couldn't bear to read it. I recommend this book if you don't mind sad books but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like sad books

This comprehensive reference guide is a must have for anyone who must watch their dietary intake of any one or more of a variety of substances. In fact, it is something everyone should have on hand to help them determine what they should or should not eat if they just want to stay healthy.

It first divides various foods into sensible food group catgories making almost any food easy to find. All food items are then listed alphabetically in table format and include content such as various vitamins, minerals, water, fibre, carbohydrate, fats, sodium, caffeine, and more. It also lists certain specialty foods such as special dietary substitute foods etc. for those on very specific diets. It makes an excellent gift for diabetics, heart patients, vegetarians, and anyone with an eye on their health.

Another Great Book by the Queen of Romantic Suspense!

Review Date: 2007-08-31
Colleen Coble never fails to produce wonderful stories with real life characters, tense situations and lots of faith. The theme of this one is learning to trust God with things that as a non-Christian you tried to handle alone, and realizing how very much God loves each one of us. Tatiana comes to America from a poverty-stricken life in Russia, bringing her adorable little Irina to a better life, and willingly doing whatever she feels she must to protect Irina, ignoring the fact that a loving God is just waiting to take over her burdens. The Christians in Colleen's books make enough mistakes to keep them from being "plastic", and there is a lot of life evangelism going on. Another great offering from this wonderful author!

Hard to put down

Review Date: 2008-04-23
The Glacier is known for being bad medicine, the local Indians won't go anywhere near it. But these fears don't stop Louisa King from persuading her husband Zach to go on a getaway into the high country. Even they can't guess at the terror they're about to unleash, for something terrible lives on that glacier, something that craves flesh and doesn't care whether it's from a deer or an elk - or a human.

A book that begins with moments of humour as Zach comes to realize why Lou wants them to spend some quality time together that leads to a different side to Zach starting to appear, a more responsible side.

The fun of the beginning soon giving way to fear as Zach and Lou near the glacier. From here the book never lets up as David Thompson increases the pace and the danger, gripping the reader with cliffhanger chapter endings and the desire to find out just what it is that lives on that glacier.

And David Thompson expertly creates another feeling for the reader, that of sympathy for the characters of To-Ma and Neota.

This is a book that any reader should find hard to put down before reaching the end, a book that has me eager for the next one to come out.

Highly recommended.

Glacier Is Mint

Wilderness # 52 - Glacier Terror By David Thompson - Genre: Western

As a book Glacier is mint!!, But when is a Crypto Wilderness book not a Crypto Wilderbook, when you read this book LOL, the author is a sneaky fiend!!. All jokes aside this was an absolutely cracking read and kept up the high standard I've come to expect when reading a Wilderness tale, Great story, super plot, insightful, amusing and thoughtful dialogue and so many cliff-hangers my nails are shredded!!.

Zach and Louise decide to go a trip to a nearby mountain and climb up the glacier and this will lead to an adventure that will test themselves and their love for each other to extremes as they encounter something mysterious on the mountain. This was a terrific read and I really enjoyed it and it's underlying theme of love, family and what people will do for each other when in difficult ands dangerous situations. The humour quota was high in this tome especially in the first few chapters as Zach tries in vain to remember what he has agreed too with Louise after she asks him a monumental question (hands up what man hasn't just said yes when not listening to the other half, you at the back your a bloody liar!!). But this book is all about what people will do for each other, Zach for Louise and vice versa, Neota for his estranged relative, Nate for his son and daughter in law etc.

All in all a great book and there is even a hint of something else on the glacier that hopefully will crop up in a later book and that thing might be a Crypto beast.(pretty please!!)

Imperial Corporations is an easily readable, fact-filled book portraying the rise of a "standardized culture" across the planet. This is a culture of Pepsico and Madonna, of Bertelmann and American Express. The book is full of scary facts about these major corporations, andothers, such as Sony and Citibank. It reads like a novel and you can breeze through it, though, as I said, it's full of incredibly interesting material on the global corporate power structure.

Obviously well researched.

All one needs to do to realize the importance of this work is to watch CNNFN or any other business news channel, read the wall street journal et al. Merger, merger, merger,. The UN, World Bank, Corporate greed, A juvenile and naive population, which will happily step over the bodies of those less fortunates whose 401's didn't come through or never possessed. Of course for any of this to culminate in the true end game scenario, they must assume a greater yet degree of control of the people and their money. I suggest you read "Transfer: the end of the beginning," by Jerry Furland, also available through amazon.com. I highly recommend both of these books.

An instant classic - and a sleeper

This book is excellent. I borrowed it from a friend and instantly fell in love. I've read each story more times than I can count and I know I'll probably read it many more times in the future. I don't even like short stories! I was totally shocked by how much these stories hooked me. Maybe it was because he was a totally unknown (to me) writer and I wasn't expecting much, but most likely I've continued to like the stories because they're well written, funny and engaging. After I finished it I got online and found his other book, The Year of the Hare (which I can't seem to find on Amazon and I lent to someone ages ago and can't remember who now). Anyway, it rocked too and even better for me it was a normal length book. I only wish he'd write more along this vein.

Mr. Finn's book, Gods New and Used, is the perfect thing for people who don't like fantasy, but know what they like. Each story give little tidbits that add up, like nested boxes, until finally in the last story, everything comes together. My favorite novelette is The Secret Life of Lawrence Croft. It's funny, mean, scary, and very true to life. If you are a member of fandom, this book is over the top!...
