An investment I did not regret

One day, I found my car leaking oil like crazy. Like a good customer, I took it to the local Ford dealership and they stopped the leaking. However, not sure if this is deliberate or not, they forgot to return what was my my pre-heat hose and all along I was wondering why both my car was not working right and what this extra part was that was left on the side.
An officemate of mine suggested that I invest in a Chilton for my cars make and model and with his help, I figured out that it was this book that I needed and I have not regretted it ever since. The book had the diagram I needed that there should be a hose where there was none and the type I needed. Moreover, I also needed new spark plugs and a new gas filter. The combination of all three has resulted in a smooth running. I use the book as a reference rather than having read it from cover to cover. It has proven its worth and has saved me hundred of dollars in repair bills. I highly recommend this book and if the series is anything like it - the whole series.

This is one of my favorite books. Written like really good fiction, Mr. Conrad (a writer and artist by trade) takes us through his addiction and recovery at BFC. It is not only extremely helpful and insightful, but also a "can't-put-down" tell-all bio. A book I have bought for others. Well worth it!!!!

I started reading "Swann's Way" on at least two occasions before a friend challenged me to join him in reading the whole of "Remembrance of Things Past," as Proust's masterpiece was then known. We got through it in about a year. I read it again--and out loud!--to my wife over the course of two winters. Years later, when Penguin came out with a new translation, I knew I'd have to read the book again, and this time I blogged online about the experience. Between books of the novel, I read everything published about Proust in English as well as his housekeeper's memoir in French. Now I've put my blog entries into print (well--digital print) for anyone who'd like to tackle the novel as I did most recently, reading it from beginning to end. My blog is just under 8,000 words, so it won't take long. Though it was the "Penguin Proust" that inspired the entries, they'll work for the more traditional translation as well. (I read the latest version of that, as edited by Enright, after I finished the Penguin Proust, for my fourth complete reading of "In Search of Lost Time".) Blue skies! -- Dan Ford

As a school Guidance Officer and Counsellor, I have found this book invaluable. It is based on Perceptual Control Theory and shares many similarities to the work of William Glasser and his Choice Theory, although the two authors would probably dispute this. It is particularly relevant for Guidance Officers whose schools have introduced "the Responsible Thinking Classroom" as part of their behaviour management policy. For a counsellor, Ed goes much deeper than a discussion of Perceptual Control Theory. Ed describes valuable techniques he uses in counselling and relates them to his understanding of why we humans do what we do. My only complaint is that I want a follow up book on counselling from Ed but can't seem to find one. I suspect that like many authors of the really great counselling books, Ed is more involved with the practical counselling side of things and simply hasn't had the time to write another book since this one. His style of writing is easy to read and it is one of those books that can be read time and again and each time more is learnt. This book contains much more about human behaviour than a study of stress. If Ed is still around, I hope he reads this review and writes another book on his techniqes of counselling and human behaviour.

This book has an opening chapter on the social context of English Literature during this period and is followed by a survey of the Literature. Both of these are very ably written by A. R. Humphries.
There then follow chapters on John Dryden(F.N.Lees) Samuel Butler (Ian Jack) Language 1660-1784 (A.S. Collins) John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester(V.De S.Pinto) Restoration Comedy( P.A. W. Collins) Literary theory and literary criticism( P.A.W. Collins) Literature and Science(C.J. Horne)
Defoe as Novelist (Ian Watt) The Periodical Essayists(Jane H. Jack) An approach to Swift( D.W. Jefferson) Alexander Pope(Norman Callan) Poetry in the Eighteenth Century (T.S. Eliot) William Hogarth (V.De.S. Pinto)
Samuel Richardson (Frank Bradbrook)Fielding and Smollet (A.R. Humphries)
Tristam Shandy and its Tradition( D.W. Jefferson)
This is a very rich anthology which provides first- rate analysis of an Age which is distinguished in part by its being the first in which a wide readership is at center, a concern for hard factual and experimental reality plays a good part, an Age in which Reason has great importance. Eliot accused the poets of this Age of a 'dissocation of sensibility' and Humphrey points out that is untrue to their complexity and that feeling and thought were often connected by them in startling new ways even as they may have spurned the fantastical of the previous Age.

We bought this book for my father-in-law who is mad keen about model-t fords. He has one in the shed that is slowly being put back together! He had been on the look-out for it for awhile, and we finally found it on amazon, he was absolutely stoked with it! The book was in tip-top condition and we received it super fast (we are in new-zealand). Was a great buy and a great experience!

well if you are very limited on time the best way to see washington has to be the tourmobile you can pick it up at union station and get on and off all day for 25 bucks a person (35 for a 2 day pass) this guide was a buy and easy to carry. you can go to all the major monuments for free and the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier was impresive and moving this book and all the frommers portables are great in my experince.
