I would recommend Teen Power Politics for younger to middle aged people who are looking into having a carrer in politics. This is a good book to read if you want to ideas on how to make a political difference in your community. Some of the main points in the book are history of voting rights, why or why not people vote and also democracy. If you're into politics i would highly recommend you spending your money on it.

I have seen the majority of these projects in earlier published papercrafting books. Mostly basic papercrafting techniques- experienced papercrafters will not find many exciting things in this book. Disappointing.

A review from a mother of boys
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2007-05-11
I am the mother to four wonderful boys and I am painfully aware of how the media presents men in the most demeaning manner. I have seen it in sitcoms, commercials, and literature. It feeds my boys a negative perception which directly effects their self-esteem and their view of others.

I read this book "hoping" for some tools to education them intelligently about society and it's stereotypes. Unfortunately, that did not turn out to be the case. Mr. Kammer does bring to light many truths about women "protected" (little girls are made of everything nice) from equal sentencing and treatment on many issues. Specifically domestic violence against men - a very real issue in society today.

The book was highly defensive - and made many very general statements about "women". It would have been most helpful if Mr. Hammer did add a small addendum for those of us who aren't "princesses" or "rule" makers. Who actually balk at many of the laws in place that are "supposedly" protecting women and irreversibly harming men.

In addition it doesn't recognize that many of these stereotypes, which are socio-economic also, date back to the hundres of years ago (he does provide a list at the end of the book recognizing specific instances) which were ordained by men - not women.

Hey All! For all of us who want to make our own clothing, this book and the previous version (same author) provide adequate instructions for making "hippy" clothing. Most of the ideas here are how to "repurpose" existing clothing, or how to construct (mostly) shapeless garments. While the idea is interesting, there are gaps in the instructions that leave you wondering through a couple of important steps. There are better books about pattern-less clothing construction than this one, but it is interesting for the "hippy" angle it shows on reusing or recycling your already owned gear.

Very Disappointed

I was very disappointed with this book. All the inside pictures are in black and white which does little for balloon decorating. Much of the first part of the book is chit chat about the history or balloon decorating and what the author did when he was out of work. The second part states the obvious and shows a distinct lack of research.

The book is just not very informative. Picture of people inflating balloons and holding them tells the reader nothing about how to decorate. The diagrams give veery little information.

I returned this book even though it cost me to do so. Very very poor value for money.

Very disappointing. Not what I was expecting.

A better book is The Art, Craft & Business of Balloon Decorating by Ruth Younger IF (and I mean IF) you can find it.

FOLLOW UP ON FIRST REVIEW: Today, i called the Charles prosper Agency at (323)662-7841. Mr. Charles Prosper identified himself. I requested detailed information concerning the 100% money back-satisfaction guaranteed(-15% restock charge and shipping)offer and about the book. I was met with a defensive attitude and unprofessional telephone skills. Is it because the book is not as it seems or advertises? A Definate RED FLAG HERE! I do not think much of the book ..the personal and professional guarantee or Charles Prosper in my opinion is not worth much either. BE-WARE

I purchased the book to gain instructional information that would benefit my small business.I was under the impression by the advertisement that ..........."the book was an experts step by step guide". I was excited about what I would learn expecially how to..price..create..learn new arches and to get down to business and make serious money. I was very dissappointed with the book. I wasted my money. I learned that the only one making money was the author of this book. I am very very dissatisfied. If you want a GOOD balloon education contact Qualitex or Pioneer Balloon Company!

This is the worst book I've ever seen. Ever.
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-07-01
This is one of the strangest books I've ever seen and the description supplied by Amazon doesn't accurately reflect the content.

Each two page spread consists of a full page photograph on the left side and an illustrative drawing with one to three instructions below.

Most photos are blurry or distorted by square, digital grain. Most are black and white, although more often grey and grey; a few are color, although often distorted into unnatural colors. None of them give you a good look at the makeup. If the photos are supposed to illustrate the effect of the makeup techniques, I can't really tell. (You can get a good idea what the photos are like from the book cover.)

The illustrations are crude: not anatomically correct (unless each of your eyes is wider than your mouth) and not specific or precise. The text is just as unimpressive. A typical set of instructions reads:

Eyebrow
Brushing
Secret
1 Use an eyebrow brush
2 Brush up and out

That's the text for the whole page. As the secrets the title promises, these instructions leave something to be desired.

Just about any make up book would be better than this: Cindy Crawford's Basic Face for the basics, Bobbi Brown Beauty for the natural yet more advanced, Making Faces or any other book by Kevin Aucion for the fanciful.

There is no attempt to explain the rational of this book. I'm left with the impression that this is a vanity project: One person without any particular skill with cosmetics or photography describing without clarity or finesse a single makeup routine.

The book does not live up to the title

I can't seem to ever buy enough beauty books! I go to auctions on the computer, to used book sites, etc. I did read the review on this book. And as a result I kept passing this book up. Finally, I decided to take a chance and actually **BUY** this book, even though I saw the one star review. Well, the other reviewer was correct! WOW! What a HUGE dissapontment! But, I must admit that I was warned! Here's another description of this book. Just imagine huge, blurry photos on the left side pages. The facing pages have very little text, well spaced out, with more "white space" than print. There is a makeup step in that text,(if I can recall correctly), such as, a step of 'how to line your lips'. I would give a better description, but I have the book stashed in a "JUNK" room, so, it would take me two hours to find it!
To sum this book up, if you used a word processor or computer, typed all of the text into it, I bet that you might be lucky to get a sheet or two (maybe three if you try to stretch it) of typed paper. The pictures are useless in trying to get some makeup tips from them!
Well, I haven't ever written a book review here before... but this book was really a big dissapointment! Sometimes I might give a book 5 stars, sometimes 4, etc. and even once in a while a 1 star. But never have I felt that a book should be given *ZERO* stars or even *NEGATIVE* 5 STARS! This book certainly should be entered into the HALL OF FAME of USELESS BOOKS!

Jeff Paul's interview series are mainly rehashed and remashed content that he throws together and re-sells. I found his material to be disorganized (usually because he is just talking and talking about the same stuff) and highly repetitive. Discerning and intelligent listeners will quickly discover that Jeff Paul is a massive self-hype guy, self-promoting his "marketing genius" by constantly referring to his own supposed successes -- yet, you never hear details on how he actually did something ... he has an amazing knack for beating around the bush!

The worst aspect of his material is that he offers little substance or specific examples. He talks in vague terms, alludes to "big deals" he's made, but NEVER gets into the nitty-gritty, which is what people really want.

In my opinion, I would not buy anything he offers until he starts producing concrete, organized, specific information on the topics he blathers on and on about. Use the money you save and put it towards your business venture.

Make sure you Google this rip-off before getting hooked!

This product... like most rip-off schemes gets you hooked, asking for higher and higher sums while offering you nothing.

Google "Jeff Paul". You will see countless complaints from people who have lost thousands. Many people have reported that they don't give money back (their promised "money-back guarantee is useless).

Outside of their wonderful adds. I haven't heard of anyone who has made any money on this.

A great book but only if you own no others on bead or ribbon work. This is NOT new material. It's a compilation of projects from numerous other books by a variety of artists/authors. I truly hate it when publishers do this, especially as there is no indication that this is merely a rehash and not new stuff.
