A year ago I bought Vol 2 "Birds and mammals", Fantastic. One of my treasures.
I have been looking for Vol 1 and no body has it or want to sell it. I am sure that a new edition will be a succesfull and a gift for all we love fly fishing and tying .

More than an Encyclopedia Of Materials

Paul pulls together a concise informative description of the animal providing the material along with its range of domain. He bridges this over into the use of the material in the realm of fly tying. This book is one of a two part set. Be sure to buy both. In the second book of the set he includes sections on man made materials and a couple of other special topics. His section on genetic hackle and the history of its development is insightful and very well done. The supporting photography of flies and patterns tied by many contemporary tiers makes this a truly wonderful book to sit and page through for an hour or sit and read for several. An excellent compilation.

Remarkable Roasting Recipes
Helpful Votes: 20 out of 20 total.
Review Date: 2000-01-10
This little paperback cookbook contains some of the best roasting recipes I have found. Most recipes are fairly simple and not extremely time consuming and the ingredients are easy to find. The instructions are clearly written and easy to follow and the end results are fabulous. It covers a broad range of cooking from appetizers and soups to main courses, salads and dessserts. I would highly recommend this low key little gem.

This is one of my favorite recipe books. It taught me how to roast a simple, tasty chicken. The roasted vegetable recipes have become regulars for family gatherings. The roasted potato salad is also a new staple for parties. And I still haven't tried everything that I would like to. I find roasting to be a simple way of cooking, with simple ingredients for the most part.

Royally Thrilling

Will Chastain has kept a low profile since he was almost killed in a boat explosion. But when his estranged wife is killed in a car accident and their baby son, Leo, is kidnapped, Will is forced to surface. He's not alone; his wife's cousin, Julia Sheridan, is also looking for Leo. Will realizes the kidnapping is related to his mysterious past and starts digging into his background. As he finds out the truth, he begins to realize why so many people want him dead. It will take everything he has to rescue his son and keep Leo, himself, and Julia alive.

"Royal Heir" is a fast paced, page-turning, romantic suspense novel. None of it is particularly believable, but author Alice Sharpe does such a good job of creating tension and situations that will keep you reading that it doesn't matter how unbelievable it is. The mystery of why Will's Aunt was always moving him from place to place when he was a child is also interesting and it's fun to watch Will and Julia uncover pieces from his past. Will and Julia are both nicely done and while Will's back-story is the most interesting, Julia has a back-story that is also slowly revealed which makes her very sympathetic to readers. The focus of this book is more of a thriller than romance, so the romance between the two takes a back seat, which was fine with me because the thriller aspects story were so interesting. My only complaint is that the end of the book seemed to be rushed and it just kind of ended. The book could have used an epilogue to wrap everything up.

"Royal Heir" is a thrilling romantic suspense novel.

I just finished this book and couldn't put it down. My children paid dearly for my obsession, as dinner tonight was whatever they could find, but sacrifices must be made :-)

I fell in love with the heroine immediately. She is resilient despite, or maybe in response to, a damaging childhood. But she is not a wounded bird. She is strong and loving, probably the best heroine Alice has ever written. I really, really liked her. And the hero, well who doesn't want to be saved by the tall, dark, and handsome stranger? A fantasy, to be sure. But she gets to save the day and that is even sweeter.

This is my new favorite book!

Just like the Pony Express riders themselves, this is a fast-paced but at the same time enjoyable and meaningful read of a very significant period in American history.
Due to Hollywood, television, dime novels, etc. many have a misunderstanding that the Pony Express lasted for years, even decades, where in actuality it was for only eighteen months. DiCerto gives us a glimpse into the origin of how and why this mail service was initiated; who started it; the trials and tribulations of the politics involved; a brief history of every station along the route; and best of all, the hardships, perils, dangers and grit of the young riders themselves.
A very well written and informative book.

This book is nothing but the "Bible". Parker Smith (Wolf?) and Burris-Meyer & Cole is the staff of the scenery education. Packed full of pertinent and necessary information. After 25 years of building scenery this is still one of my foremost resources. Unlike Parker Smith which also covers lighting design and as such, older editions can be outdated due to changes in basic technology, Burris-Meyer & Cole is a timeless reference book dealing hands on with techniques that have been and will be around for a long time. If you haven't a copy of this and intend to be a serious scenery professional find a copy.

A quantum leap from First Thunder

I very much enjoyed First Thunder, as it was simply stated. Of course, that is the message isn't it - Ascension is easy. Reading Second Thunder should have felt like a sequel. It wasn't. It was a whole new experience.

Intricate story patterns woven into one simple message - it's time to awaken and remember who we are! A remarkable process - I read it in 3 days. I didn't intend to - I just couldn't put it down. And now I could go back and read it again!

Highly recommended for enjoyable reading, and for the message it contains. If it seems complex when you start - let go of the need to contain and analyze the story. Just let it happen! And then it will - guaranteed!

First Thurder gone bullistic!

You like First Thunder. You're ready to continue the journey. But hold your hats and bucket up! This is not your average sequel. This story will have SF fans begging for more, and more is coming. Third Thunder will be out next week! The adventure truly continues, and well worth the wait

To me this is one of the best Melanie Milburne books I have read, because the characters where so realistic. This is the first in numerous harlequin presents books I've read were you get a true sense of the hero's inner depth. Jake was not the typical hero. Yes. he was a billionaire with ridiculous amounts of money, but you never got the since that his wealth defined him. You find out that his abusive relationship with his father was the thing that shaped his life, his successes and faliures and his intimate relationships with women, especially the heroine Ashleigh. Ashleigh was not the typical heroine, she was strong and unlike most heroines in harlequin books she had a strong and supportive family background, that if Jake had never shown back up and found that she had a son by him, that she would have survived with or without him and that she was raising a loving and intelligent child who was loved by all.
I honestly passed this book by twice, once online when I was ordering books and a second time in the store. When I came across it again I figured oh what the heck if I don't like it I can always stop reading it. But I absolutely LOVE this book and recommend it as a quick read. You won't regret it!

I paid more for this book than I would normally but found it to be stories about a man dedicated to the Lord and his family. He has a sense of himself that is so funny and gives you joy in hearing how he lived.. One of the best was when he quickly kissed his son goodnight. His youngest son Patrick eats up attention and one night he went in kissed him and was about to leave when Patrick said "Why do you kiss me so fast". A deep thought for a child., and one worth hearing and reminding us. The stories are a blessing to everyone that has the opportunity to read them. Well worth the money I paid to purchase it. I give it a high 10. Ljm

If my house were on fire and I could only choose one book to save besides my favorite Bible, it would be Bob Benson's "See You At The House: Stories Bob Benson Used To Tell" since it has been out-of-print for over a decade and is extremely hard to find. The Lord knows I've looked.

This book is a series of personal spiritual reflections from the late Bob Benson. I read probably 75-100 books every year and this is a one-of-a-kind, nearly indescribably good book. It is a gold mine of unique stories, illustrations. One of the best ways to describe it is "soul enriching." The ... price is well worth it. Buy it, read it and re-read it, let your wife and kids read it, but don't loan it out. It is too much of a treasure to risk losing.
