This is an awesome rendition of the Old Testament. I keep it in my car and listen to it while in traffic. I love the music, sound effects and all of the talented actors who make the Bible come to life.

Amazing production, of a sadly compromising translation

They did an awesome work with this, no doubt. I bought it, and I listen to it, and enjoy it, but, for God's sake, don't go believing that this is the Bible. Consider it entertainment. Thats why it's called the Bible "Experience", not just the Bible in audio. Not wanting to sound like a fruitloop, but this entertainment package is cleverly designed to pul you into using this horrid TNIV translation that has been rejected by almost every Christian denomination in America. Mainly for it's gender abolishment and watering down of key passages. Just google this and you'll see. Listen to it for fun, but please, please, don't trust what it says as being the Word of God, because it just isn't. It's like watching a film about Jesus, you don't have an expectation that it's going to be accurate to the Bible. Treat this the same way.

Outstanding product - comparable to the New Testament version. Would recommend it to anyone studying the Old Testament in the Bible. Listening to the words while reading the scripture is a easier way to understand the meaning of the message.

I read this book many years ago and it really hit me hard. I was a Navy Aircrewman who had been through SERE school. The courage and determination of LT Lance Sijan was incredible. I believe you can only relate to his story if you have in the Military and the sacrifices we make every day or have family or a loved one who has been in. I recommend this book for any Military Aviator.

I was a young Air Weapons Controller stationed in Southeast Asia during the time of Lt. Sijan's shootdown. However , it wasn't until much later, when I read "Into the mouth of the Cat", that I came to understand what a truly amazing person Lance P. Sijan was. I have since given each of my son's copies of the book, so that they, too, could read about what the definition of an american hero really is. Some of the comment's logged in this forum question his motivation for continuing to try to escape...they need to read the Code of Conduct that those of us in the military tried very hard to live by. Many of the POW's found it almost impossible to abide by every code, and understandably so. Some of the torture tactics that were administered by the enemy, no mortal could withstand. Lance P. Sijan came as close as any human being could, and ultimately died from it. If one longs to find someone that truly lives up to the definition of "Hero", they should look no further than Lance P. Sijan. He has been my hero for many years. Mike Carbonneau, Firebase Sharana, Afghanistan, Aug. 2008

I read this story years ago and remember being inspired by the courage of this young man. One reviewer stated that his plane was shot down, I thought that the bombs he was dropping detonated prematurely and caused the crash. Regardless, it's a great story about a guy who never gave up.

While in the USAF, back in 1987, I had first read this book. This is the type of book, that, when you begin to read it, you cannot put it down until it is finished. The author writes in a very easy to read style, no "big" words, but, is very descriptive and detail orientated in his telling of Sijan's heroism. Although, this is a war "related" story, I feel that it is not a "War Story". Malcolm McConnell, through his attention to detail, chronicles the extremely brave and selfless actions of an otherwise ordinary man from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After I had originally read this, 1987, I was so overwhelmed by the author's accurate depiction of what had been "Folk Lore" in the Bay View area of Milwaukee. Because of this book, I have always thought of Sijan, and all that he had endured, whenever an obstacle or challenge is placed before me. This is a very inspirational book. As I was driving on Kinnickinnic Avenue in Bay View, I passed by a Flag that is displayed right next to the road, in a little ballpark that is named Lance Sijan Field. And, every time that I pass it, I instinctively Salute. But, this time, I also bought this book, actually, four, one for my Father, two for my Brothers, and, of course, one for myself. By the way, this time, again, I had also read it in one sitting!

Many Scriptures have described the realization of one's true identity as the first step to communicating with the All Pervasive Divine Being that is within us all. Unfortunately, most Scriptures do not clearly explain how to get in touch with our Real Self. A lot is left to devotion if not blind faith.

This book identifies the Principles we need to live by and explains how we can live with them and thus get in touch with our real Self which is Divine. The Journey of Life Eteranl is a masterpiece of Spiritual literature.

All true seekers need to read this book and practice Principles so that they may at least begin and hopefully complete their individual Journey of Life Eternal. Kudos to Dr. Shahmardaan.

To those who wish to know, this book is a keeper

This book serves the needs of arm chair philosophers but much more importantly, it provides real answers to deep spiritual questions for those amongst us who are true seekers. The book gives the tools with which each one of us can realize the goal of life which is open to all.

Dr. Shahmardaan's explanations are very clear and the content very uplifting. The material will both support and miff those who claim that there is only one Master chosen by the Divine to lead mankind back to the Source from which we all became.
Anyone who has an open mind will truly appreciate this book and it may help to open the minds of those who because of their own insecurities and false sense of superiority have shut the world out of their lives.
To help the readers, unlike many authors, by providing his contact information in the book Dr. Shahmardaan shows real concern for his audience.
This is truly a wonderful gift to manking. A gift if received by many will surely help mankind inch its way towards peace and harmony.

The most powerful idea and the most challenging concept was on page 124, where Dr. Shahmardaan presents the road ahead as choosing either: a.) Giving ourselves up to the challenge -(surrendering) or b.) Discarding the book, as our only options.
In a very real sense, I understood then, that: we either choose to take 'THE' road or we postpone it.
In reviewing the points that I jotted down (and found their way into my spiral notebook), I realized that the words and phrases that resonated with me, were for the most part, not things that I necessarily wanted to hear, but things that, (I have now learned ) I needed to hear.
So,in the process of devouring Dr. Bahram R. Shahmardaan's principles and concepts, I would get stuck on words like "surrender" and jot it down and then say Why? (I even looked it up inthe dictionary) The more I kept reading, the more I understood that 'surrendering' has nothing to do with submitting at all. In fact it is its opposite. I now understand that, 'Surrender is voluntary and is a result of humility born of love'.
There were other principles that reaffirmed my own beliefs, and understanding of certain concepts; these were the principles that I have grown into along my journey, and hold dear at this time in my life. Of course no sooner did I feel that I was on a 'pretty good' road, he jolted me out of my complacency by challenging me on yet another 'area' along my road, my "journey of life"
I especially like the way the book ASKS a lot of questions not tells a lot of answers directly, as if to challenge us:
"Are you a Source or an Anti-Source?"
"Do we act out of fear or out of love?"
The reason this appeals to me is that I think the author is aware that people don't like to be told what to do but rather be brought about by 'nudging'
Dr. Shahmardaan has given some very powerful conepts and priciples that can propel us to take on the challenges of our journey with open eyes; concepts that arm us with a different way of looking at ourselves and the world. I like to describe this as "looking through different lenses". Following these principles would produce more peaceful and productive unions within our society:
"Be watchful, not reactive" (If we would follow this advice, it would stave off a lot of family squabbles, violence in families, and in society)
"When the disciple is ready to meet the MASTER, then the MASTER will create the conditions..." (Having this faith, would teach us patience)
This reader appreciates that Dr. B.R. Shahmardaan has taken insights and put them into practical do-able daily 'way of life' for anyone to avail themselves of.

In 2005 I was given the inner knowing that Christ is who He said He is.
It was in a split second of an experience I cannot put into words.
My hunger was born at that moment.
As many books as I have read in the last four years, nothing, nothing, compares to this. Not even C.S. Lewis and Mere Christianity, although his comment to those who state that Christ was only a "good teacher" was one of the best comments I have ever read...of course, that is what I once said...
I can't say anymore than all the reviews here. I am ever grateful for however this book made it to my hands. It is even more amazing that I was given the ability to understand it.

Bishop Sheen's greatest work. His insight, wisdom and knowledge is found on every page. It was impossible for me to 'rush' through this lengthy book as almost every chapter demanded thoughtful reflection. His love of and for Jesus is something to be patterned after. Truly it is worth more than twice the price and will be proudly displayed on my bookshelf next to my Bible.

Maybe you are of an age that you remember when the Venerable Bishop Sheen was on the television? I am not one of those people. Maybe you know about Bishop Sheen being an "old" preacher, and maybe that concerns you? It concerned me. But under the guidance of someone I trust I purchased this book 3 years ago and read it.

It is a string of perfect pearls!

Each chapter deals with one section of the life of Jesus Christ and is filled with not just biblical references but with insights from Sheen that could only come from a deep, DEEP love for Christ. A deep understanding of history, and deep understanding of scripture.

When you look for a good book to read on the life of Christ, don't let your reservation (or prejudice) about the authors location in history bother you. My prejudice was, Bishop Sheen was a man of the 50's and couldn't speak to me on a level I could be engaged. I was wrong. I am a woman of the 90's and I do not have a college degree, but I have a solid high school education. Sheen is a man of "letters" and that also frightened me. I promise you, don't let it frighten you.

His method of dealing with his subject is so clear and enlightening, it feels like having the cobwebs and dust removed from an abandoned building. Sheen turns on the light!

One of my favourite parts of this book is when he deals with the "Woman at the well." There is just so much there that after you read this chapter, you'll be as excited as the woman was when she ran back into town shouting to anyone who would listen "Come and see a man who told me everything about myself.."

Bishop Sheen loves Christ, if you are looking for help in meditating on scripture. You will find that help here. I challenge you to learn about the "Life of Christ"

The hole drilled right through the middle of this book displayed on the shelf at a book store caught my eye, and I was introduced to the wonderful world of Chuck Hillig.

Page after page, the hole is the centerpiece through which 'nothing' and 'all things' can be seen. In his usual playful style sprinkled with his delightful sense of humor, Hillig guides the readers on a journey through the hole and into the whole.

I have since read "Enlightenment for Beginners," "The Way It Is", as well as "Seeds for the Soul," all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed. You will definitely want to read his books more than once, and they will continue to enlighten you for years to come.

He talks mostly about the Void, what is beatifully descriped in the mystical literature (where I reccomend reading more about it).

Is it Truly Necessary or Important to our every day life (what is the most important right now) to emphasize the Void like this, wich is part of the dualistic nature of the Existence. Everything and Nothing, Light and Darkness, Feminine and Masculine and so on.

I want to read those good spiritual books, wich has a positive impact on my life. Not books what will distract you too much, makes you unbalanced and has more negative than positive impact on your life and personality.

I have to say, that Chuck's books have been one of the worst spiritual books I have bumbed into. That's my personal opinion. I don't like he's pushing writing style.

I truly feel like I made a mistake when I ordered this, Enlightment for Beginners and Seeds for the Soul last Christmas. Becouse of the positive comments, these seemed good books. For me they had mostly only negative impact and I don't want to reccomend any of them to anyone. Enlightment for the beginners was the best, Seeds for the Soul worst and this goes into the middle, out of these 3 books.

Stay with well writed books, wich has positive impact on your life, like for example Stanislav Grof's and Christopher Bache's books or Echart Tolle's "The Power of Now" type books, that's my message.

Listen yourself carefully, before you decide to buy any book, don't just rush and buy them becouse they seem like great books. I learned my lesson and I will for now on consider more carefully what books I will buy and what leave behind.

There are many far more better spiritual books than these out there, truly well writed books, I reccomend using your money on them. Chuck's books aren't anything necessary to buy.

Love and Laugh to everybody's life.

There is so much wisdom and love and crammed into this tiny book that it's simply incredible. When I read this book just about every night (and yes it is definitely worth a second, third and fourth read) it kind of feels like it is your Higher Self or an Angel talking to you and guiding you in the most insightful and loving way possible.

The book itself is not written like a novel, but a series of mini essays (each one about a page) and that better express the quote presented on the left page. The quotes themselves are wonderfully positive affirmations that can be used in and of themselves but it is the writing that is truly captivating.

I love that this book does not present itself as presumptuous and arrogant in saying it has all the answers. Instead, the author uses a guidance system to guide the reader to their own personal truth and this is nothing short of empowering.

I don't think that this may be the book for those who are loyal to a particular religion, as many things may be considered blasphemous by that person. I do however, highly recommend it to anyone on any level of their spiritual path who is more accepting of the art of channeling and/or has a liking for New Age thinking.

The Messiah Seed, as read by the author Story Waters, is the most amazingly beautiful thing I have ever heard. I have been a student of A Course In Miracles for 24 years, and these CDs are the cherry that tops the beautiful sundae of ACIM. Story's voice is beautiful, and his presentation is magnificent. Listening to these CDs actually stuns me and lifts me to a greater realization of my own power. Story's truth reverberates inside my heart and echoes my own truth. It deserves far more than 5 stars.

My copy of the book, even though it is only six months old, is now about the most worn book in my library. I loved Story's voice on the Love Is Awake CD so I thought it would be great to be able to listen to The Messiah Seed in the car. What I got instead was a whole new level to the book. Its not that the audio version is better than the book but even though the words are the same there is something different. I'm sure a lot of it is to do with the way Story conveys it with his voice. Or perhaps rather than sitting and reading you can just lay back and fall into it. Whatever the case this is a great way to experience it. Each seed has a pause between it with the sound of waves allowing you to absorb what you have just heard before you are given more. If you haven't read the book its a must-read for anyone into free-thinking spirituality as opposed to religion. If you have the book then this is a great way to experience even more that is beyond the words. One of the book reviews I read talks of the writing being full of YES energy, well add Story's voice to that and you've got YES energy overload! Where ever you are this will lift you up through the ceiling.

I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of channeling, and I approached this book with a little bit of bias. Taking each of the Messiah Seed entries into consideration apart from that factor, however, I was really quite impressed. It's almost as if the most uplifting parts of various religions were brought together in a synthesis of wondrous thought. This is a book that you can read straight through, or open at random for a quick bite of food for thought. This book can help you to open up your own tremendous potential in a constructive way. Although brief, it contains a lifetime's worth of wisdom.

This is truly an amazing book! It's written in such a way that it can actually touch your soul - and I haven't come across many books that have the ability to do that...

"The Messiah Seed" is broken down into 70 different chapters, or "seeds", each about 1 page in length (so it's quite easy to read a little at a time if you're too busy to read an entire book in one sitting).

Each of these chapters brings forth powerful spiritual wisdom re: just how powerful each & every one of us is, and how to best use this power to live the life we truly want to live. In other words, each chapter plants a seed in your soul - where it will grow when you are ready.

These "seeds" are definitely worth reflecting/pondering on, and because of this, I think "The Messiah Seed" is a book to be read & re-read many times over.

I would highly recommend this book to those who are just starting on their spiritual journey, as well as those who've been on this journey for some time. Although, I must say that it may be easier to grasp its' insights if you have some sort of spiritual foundation already laid. However, regardless of your background, these insights can profoundly impact your life IF they are approached with an open mind.

Mary O'Hara is an excellent author because she ties in real things that happen into a fictional family. The breeds of horses O'Hara writes about are real and it is obvious she is educated in each horse's individual characteristics. O'Hara writes using authentic western language terms. In "My Friend Flicka" the story comes alive to the reader as O'Hara writes with much description about the farm, the horses and life out West. O'Hara weaves into her story punishment and reward in real times -- the reward of a boy's joy when he finally receives his filly.

Can you tame a wild heart? The cover states it well. This question explains "My Friend Flicka" to the reader. It is a book about taming both a young boy and a horse. The storyline begins with Ken on a horse ride. While riding, Ken loses many different horse articles. Ken's father had been an army officer and thus raised Ken with firmness and strictness. He demanded respect. Ken has always been dreaming of a horse of his own.

Due to poor grades in school and a missed assignment about horses Ken must repeat a grade in school. His father requires Ken to complete an hour of homework a day throughout the entire summer. Ken's brother gets him in trouble by asking many questions that Ken must answer and tell the truth.

One day Ken scares his father's horses towards a landslide. One horse cuts the other horses off so none of them fall off and are saved. Ken's mother encourages his father to give his son a horse. Ken's father finally gives him a chance to care for a colt or filly. Ken chooses a colt that is a yearling. Since there are many yearlings to choose from, Ken anxiously awaits to make a choice.

The doctor arrives at their farm because four horses need to be gelded. Gelded means the horse can not reproduce and is done to the stallions. The procedure was so horrible and so much blood lost that one of the horses dies due to the gelding. The colts act sad after the gelding. Ken is greatly disturbed by it. This incident means Ken will choose a filly for his horse.

Rocket is a wild horse who has a filly named Flicka. Ken sees Flicka and falls in love with her and wants her. Flicka is caught for Ken. One day Flicka falls sick. After she is sick, Ken finds Flicka in a river lying down ill on a cold night. By the morning, Ken is sick and Flicka's fever is gone. Ken's father wants to kill Flicka but decides against it. Flicka turns into a well-bred horse and a companion for Ken. Flicka and Ken grow up together and learn life lessons from each other.

"My Friend Flicka" by Mary O'Hara is a great book I would recommend for young and old alike. Boys and girls who have a love for ranches, horses and the outdoors would particularly enjoy the storyline. I have read many books in my life time and I rank this one as one of the best. Break-in a book called "My Friend Flicka" and gallop away from the world.

I have to give this book 5 stars. Mary O'Hara wrote an incredibly beautiful story about a struggling family. Many of the details of the story are so true to life. As an adult reading this story, I found the details about the parents to be more interesting than the story of the horse and the boy. O'Hara really understands the concerns of a parent for a struggling child and it's very true to life in the book. Many important issues are touched upon in this book too; responsibility for our domestic animals, love for people and animals, doing our duty in our every day life are all there with out being mushy and sentimental. O'hara also paints a vivid picture of Wyoming and old-time ranch life. It makes me wish it was still like that, so I could visit it. This is another great book for a read aloud family time.

A COMMANDING NARRATION OF A CLASSIC

Although he made his audio book debut just two readings ago, stage, screen and television actor Michael Louis Wells is in full command of the metier with his narration of the classic My Friend Flicka. Many will remember the story as a film with Roddy McDowall, as a TV series or as a current film. Wells is on a par with all of the actors who have undertaken bringing this touching tale to life. The reason for the story's many incarnations is obvious - it is one of our best-loved books and well deserves its place among others that are enjoyed from generation to generation, such as Treasure Island and Mutiny on the Bounty.

Pivotal to O'Hara's story is Ken and his seeming laissez faire attitude. Where his mind is his father, Rob, certainly doesn't know. He's a young boy who would much rather just look out a window than study his arithmetic. He should have studied because his report card is so poor that he's doomed to repeat a grade. Rob undoubtedly wonders whether he'll even catch on the second time around.

Their home is Wyoming's Goose Bar Ranch and Rob is working hard to make a go of it. He doesn't need a son who seems given to daydreams. Then, along comes Flicka, a beautiful chestnut filly, with a wild streak inherited from her sire. Ken is certain he can tame Flicka, and so begins the unforgettable relationship between a boy and his horse.

O'Hara wrote a follow-up to her story, Thunderhead, but it never achieved the popularity of My Friend Flicka, a timeless story to be enjoyed over and over again.

Surprise! A clinical description

I am in the middle of lstening to this book. Its detailed descriptions of ranch life and horses are quite compelling. But what surprised me was the absolutely accurate description of a boy with ADD. This book was written some two decades before attention deficit disorder gained anyone's attention, but O'Hara's descriptions of Ken's behavior are absolutely consistent.

And then O'Hara answers the question of what to do about the condition: give the kid something he really wants to do and stand back. Of course, it helps that Ken has two wise and good-hearted parents; but then, maybe that is the start to solving most problems that children have.

A fine book on many levels, and a fine companion on the road for adult and child.

I bought this book to help reduce my recently diagnosed high cholesterol problem. I'm an RN and found this book very inspiring and informative. I highly recommend it and am using most of his suggestions. The best book I have found on the subject & I have lowered my LDL and raised my HDL. Now I am trying his weight loss ideas that cover one chapter and suggest restricting carbs. I started that today. This book is worth the money and the author also writes a newsletter that you can subscribe to.

It really, really works!

Amazing results and pretty easy! Believe me, you can lower that colesterol and still eat well! Following a few suggestions in this book--I wasn't even that strict---oat bran, niacin, more vegatables, avoiding transfats ect, my total colesterol dropped 116 points in SIX WEEKS! My "bad" colesterol went from 177 to 80. The book is easy to read and you will learn tons about how your body works.

I got my total cholesterol down from 275 to 191, Triglycerides down from 221 to 96. LDL down from, 182 to 118 and HDL up from 49 to 54.
This was accomplished in 10 weeks by rigidly sticking to the zero saturated fat recommendation and half heartedly trying the Niacin regimen.
I cut out cheese, milk, whole eggs, etc. and substituted with olive and canola oils.
I have since ramped up the niacin regimen to the complete doses recommended by the book and will see if I can improve on these already impressive numbers.
Try it, it works.
UPDATE - 10 weeks after the review above I had my lipids checked again and my total cholesterol is now 133; that's pretty amazing considering my
total was 275 just five months ago and I have not taken any prescription medications. My LDL is now 75 (down from 182) and my triglyserides are now 71 (down from 221). I am actually concerned my cholesterol may now be too low. Great advice!

This book is an excellent read with practical, easy to follow diet changes. My cholesterol went from 257 to 187 in 3 months time. In addition to reading this book, I used recipes from the American Heart Assoc. cookbook, excersized almost every day, and read the "Cholesterol Down" book. This book has helped me understand how to change my life for the better, giving me the information to understand why I needed various diet adjustments.
In particular, I really enjoy the muffin recipes in the back of the book. And typically eat 2-3/day! Benecol also now makes a chewy caramel that I used to help get my intake of plant stanols/sterols as per the recommendations.

This book has so much information about converting to a plant based diet. It had all the info about the nutrition of vegetarians including what vegetarian diets tend to lack. It dispels all the nutritional rumors and has a handy guide on how to switch and how to deal with those who may chastize you. It even has recepies and cooking tips for the new vegetarian chef.

Whether you do it for your health, for your love of animals, or because you want something new, Becoming Vegetarian is definitly what I would recommend for those new to the switch.

This book is extremely comprehensive. It is the first book about becoming vegetarian that I have read but I am completely satisfied that it covers all the requirements of a vegetarian diet. I would also recommend this book to non-vegetarians, particularly those seeking to reduce meat intake and increase nutrition from plant foods.

This is a good book with a lot of good information. The problem with the book is that it has an agenda. If I didn't know any better I would have to think that the author was a member of PETA. Keep the politics out of the book!

The New International Version is excellent for readability and overall quality. However, because it is only 52% consistent with the original language (Old Testament comparison only) you cannot do serious bible study without using a concordance. I love this Bible...unfortunately it's the second one I have now. I loved it so much I wanted to find something similiar but didn't realize I was buying the same Bible with a different cover. Please note that the compact NIV Bible with a pink cover and the number "1" on the front is the EXACT same text. For some reason this one typically sells for less.
