I bought this book and donated it as a birthday book at the elementary school I work at. The librarian has been reading it to the classes that come in for library. I have gotten so many hugs and THANK YOUS from the kids at school. They have all said it is a "Great Book" or "Awesome Book". They were doing a unit on the iditarod races and sled dogs, so I checked with the librarian to see if the library had this book and if they would be interested in it for the library.

Having met the author and heard her tell the story at my school, it was wonderful to read the book! Pam Flowers tells an exciting true story well and my students hung on every word! The illustrations are absolutely beautiful as well as the story.

Down Santa Claus Lane is a gentle meander along the Victorian by-ways of yester-year, crammed with lush reditions of Father Christmas in various guises. The charts are drawn from old art work sources such as post-cards and Christmas cards. The use of colour is imaginative and trouble has been taken to find many styles. In this book Santa comes in red, yellow, green, blue, and brown. Something for everyone. There are thirty different charts, each one easy to read and the finished stitchery is displayed in numerous ways, from straight forward framed pictures to cushions, pillows, and stockings. There is even a chart dedicated to baby's first Christmas, surely no doting grandma could resist the urge to stitch that one? As this is an American book there are a few all American Santas. This is a truely super book, well up to the house standard of Leisure Arts and one of my particular treasures.

Beautiful book includes many cross-stitch patterns of victorian and patriotic Santa's re-created from antique postcards. Projects include framed pictures, stocking, pillows, and ornaments. If you collect santa's or postcards you'll love this book.

If you want to be a Drag Queen or just look like one, this is the book you need. Pointers on everything from shaving to primping to make-up. Very well written and funny.

The combination of humorous life-style tips and recipes for truly good-tasting food give this book something for everyone, drag queen or not. I had a hard time deciding whether this book belonged on my coffee table or in the kitchen. The plentiful tasteful (no pun intended), campy photographs are a delight. I even enjoyed the credits at the back of the book - unlike other authors paying dry homage, Honey's wit and playful humor introduce the reader to a fascinating cast of collaborators. I strongly recommend this book as a perfect gift for anyone who enjoys cooking or has an offbeat sense of humor, or both.

I recently purchased this book as I saw some of Ray Evans sketches in one of my watercolor books and fell in love with his sketch style. I love this book. His linework is wonderfully loose and his watercolors of the architecture are beautiful. If you are interested in sketching architecture, this is a must have book.

I like Ray Evans style "A La Prema" in some of his sketch and painting found in this book.
This style influence my painting eversince. A great book for beginners and professional alike. Buy one.

Drawing: A Creative Process is my favorite guide and textbook for basic drawing. It covers, in an accessible way, basic concepts behind visually expressing ideas through drawing. Ching's section on perspective is especially good and is, like the rest of the book, clearly illustrated with Ching's own pencil drawings. The book does not contain examples of master drawings or lessons in art history, but it does provide an access point for someone wanting to learn how to visualize their observations and ideas.

Like the rest of Ching's books, this one is great as well. I use it as a resource for Drawing and illustration classes in college. It covers all the basics of sketching and drawing that are important to build a foundation for free-hand drawing. It covers everything from basic shapes and textures to gesture drawing and proportion. I also recomend the book "Design Drawing" by F. Ching.

After having been kidnapped and held hostage by early Al qeada operatives in 1992 just after the fall of Communism in Russia, I can relate to the negotiation tactics relayed in this book.
An intelligent, factual and fascinating read.

Recommended to me by Major Bob Beach, Director of the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy in Virginia. Great book if you're interested in this field, or are already in it and want to hone your skills. At only 17, I feel this book will be very helpful to me in a future I hope consists of a career as an Alaska State Trooper. It may be a little heavy, but dig in and hang on for the long haul. A lot of economics texts you will come across will be filled with a plethora of pointless information. This text gets to the point and helps you understand the basic concepts of economics. It also showcases stories at the beginning of each chapter to put the concepts in real world perspective. Its very simple, to the point with just enough graphs, tables, and real world applications to make it a fun, quick, and highly informative read.

Has a real knack for conveying complex economic concepts quickly and systematically with little effort. E.g., only a few minutes after reading the Keynesian perspective on fiscal policy I was able to graph and explain how equilibrium changes are affected by government spending. Not having an economics background I find this book remarkable!

Describes the health of the body in terms of its connection with spirit which acts through the endocrine system and especially the spiritual centers. Excellent chapter on meditation and how the words in the Lord's Prayer activate the chakras or spiritual centers.

Originally, I sought out this book because I wanted to know more about the radio-active appliance (not nuclear, it means radio waves) also known as the impedance device which was invented by the psychic Edgar Cayce while in trance. Since Cayce's source said that the radio-active appliance, if used properly, could prolong a person's life by half again, I assumed it would be mentioned in a book describing Cayce's views on how to rejuvenate the body.

However, although the radio-active appliance and another of Cayce's trance inventions the West Cell Battery are mentioned, I have actually learned more about why a positive attitude while using them is so important from another little book, the lovely Edgar Cayce on the Indigo Children, which emphasizes Cayce's precepts as far as the raising children.

By the way, if you want to know how to use the radio-active appliance, you won't find the information in either of these two books. However, you can find articles and testimonials by doing a Google or some other search engine search.

In addition, if you're interested in learning about many of the home cures suggested by Cayce in trance, a great book is Harold Reilly's The Edgar Cayce Handbook for Health Through Drugless Therapy. Another book that describes the seer's healing philosophy plus suggested preparations is written by Doctor William McGary called The Edgar Cayce Remedies.

OK, now back to the book at hand. Much of Edgar Cayce on Rejuvenation of the Body reads like a simplified description of the workings of the body . . . but . . . from the point of view of Cayce's trance source. I found it really outstanding in its explanation of Cayce's philosophy describing how spirit works to heal the body, including the usefulness of the laying on of hands. I loved the section on the importance of fresh air walks in the chapter on Exercise and Rest.

Furthermore, I found the first chapter on "Fundamentals of Healing" very helpful to read while USING the radio-active appliance as a means of elevating my mood as well as keeping me encouraged and expectant of positive results.

I also found the final chapter on Meditation especially useful since Cayce suggests that while using the radio-active appliance it is helpful to use the time as a period of meditation.

Actually, for such a small, wee book, of only 91 pages, it packs a pretty big wallop.
