Advertising and Automobiles-A perfect advertising media for The Zippo! This fantastic book celebrates an era when people were not ashamed if their cars were gas guzzlers or if they (gasp!) smoked. All the greats-Ford-Hudson-Cadillac are here in brushed chrome splendor. Of interest is the tremendous coverage of the
Tucker.
What a wonderful reflection of how things used to be.
Thank you ,Philip Taggart for a wonderful reference piece.

It's a large coffee table type with colorful dust jacket which is duplicated on the cover. Not too much reading, but just enough to give you all the information you would need or want about Zippo lighters for both cars and trucks. (Mostly cars) Lots of detail, up close pictures of lighters and drawings from their design to colorful finished product. If you're into cars or Zippo lighters and want a book you will find hard to put down once you start looking and reading, this book is for you. I have never seen anything like it, and believe it will have wide appeal. If you see it, you'll want it! It's 190 pages and not a dull one in it.

Lively and spectacular glimpses at the world

Review Date: 2007-01-03
This fascinating homage to man-made monuments and natural features covers the seven continents in exquisite detail. The table of contents lists the continents and what can be found within this book. Also the contents includes a map with corresponding numbers related to the site and where the written content and pictures can be found. For example, Niagara Falls is number 66, with a numbered spot on the map . Than the contents tells you what page to find the information on . Each wonder is given a two page spread for ease of viewing where details are given along with smaller pictures and more information; the result is eye pleasing well organized information. This book can be used by middle school to high school age children but is also good for adults who might want to take that virtual trip to lands and places far away. Herein you will find the most unusual and remarkable wonders of the world. Some of the biggest natural and man-made monuments and oldest edifices of the past will astound you with their beauty and in many cases longevity. The lavishly illustrated and photographed beauties of the natural and man-made world will reveal the richness and variety of the world. There is also a special section entitled "Great Civilizations." Here's a few of the diverse places included in this book: The River Nile, the Linclon Memorial, Redwoods and Giant Sequoias, Ayutthaya, The Alhambra, The Colosseum, The Temple of Karnak, Madagascar, Teotihuacan, Tikal, Iguaca Falls, The Inca Trail, Mount Erebus, Easter Island,, The Forbidden City, Mount Figi,The Empire State Building, The Blue Mosque and The Matterhorn(not Disneyland:)to name a few. It really is a book for all ages and for anyone who wants to explore the world in which they live but may never get to see in person. It is a good jump start for students who need to write a paper to begin their initial research with. The initial information found in this book may serve as a stimulus for further research. Recommended for school and community libraries.

I am prejudiced since I am the author. Contrary to what this says the book is still available from the Early Ford V-8 Club. Go to their website, www.earlyfordV8.org.

Here are a couple reviews from other people:

"I'm impressed. This is a great book! I have shown it to a few friends and they can hardly put it down."
-Jerry Jensen, Subject matter expert, Camarillo California, Dec. 6, 2000.

"Our 1938-1939 Ford Manual just came in the mail. What a superb job you did. John hasn't put it down since it came. John says "it's extremely thorough, very instructive, automatically will help every '38 and `39 restorer fantastic job."
-Ruth Owen, wife of John Owen, car owner, e-mail December 26, 2002.

"My hat's off to you for the fine job on the `38-'39 Ford book.
I have just picked up my copy at the Turlock swap meet and I have been unable to put it down. The `39 Ford line has always been my favorite, but until now, the information on them has been limited. Now, I can find the answer to almost any question I have about them.
Again, kudos to you for a job well done."
-Henry Dominguez, Author, Edsel, The Story of Henry Ford's Forgotten Son; Edsel Ford and E.T. Gregorie; The Ford Agency, Danville, California, letter January 28, 2003.

If you own a 1938 or 1939 Ford, go ahead and make out a check for $34.95 to the Early Ford V-8 Club of America, because they have what you need-Gary Mallast's six-year labor of love, the definitive restorer's guide to 1938 and 1939 Ford cars. Mallast studied 1938-39 Fords down to their minutest detail and compiled it for the convenience of his fellow Ford owners, resulting in an effort that would make owners of other marques outright jealous. The product of Mallast's work can tell you if your window crank handle fits a 1938 DeLuxe or 1939 Standard model, what the seat pattern should look like on your 1938 Standard coupe, or which engine heads are correct for your flathead, through more than 600 illustrations, some in color. The book's spiral construction also makes it easy to handle when you're scrounging parts at a swap meet or salvage yard. You'll find the information in the book's 250-plus pages so handy you may want two copies-one for the trunk and another for the library!
To obtain your own copy of the $34.95 post-paid book, visit www.earlyfordv8.org or write to Linda McDonald at 1752 Darwin Avenue, Livermore, CA 94550.

Dear Jerry, (V-8 Times editor Jerry Windle)
Just received my copy of The 1938-39 Ford Book for Passenger cars published by the Early Ford V-8 Club and what a treasure trove of information it contains. The descriptive diagrams, drawings, and photographs are outstanding. The Index, narrative outline and subtitles makes reading clear, orderly and concise. From glass to tools, it's got it covered.
I only wish it was available ten years ago when I was trying to verify data on a 1939 Standard Ford Coupe and fine original for the Rouge Class. "Bravo" to author, Gary J. Mallast, for his outstanding achievement. The Early Ford V-8 Club of America, Inc. can be proud!!

This book is THE ultimate book for the owners of -69 Corvettes. In more than 200 pages it takes you through the hole car, identifying every number, every part, every bolt and every nut. The book has hundreds of black and white pictures, showing detaljes. It`s an ultimate source for restoring a Corvette Stingray from 1969. The price would seem a bit high, but trust me; it`s worth every penny! The book is now out of print, so it may be hard to find. But if you find one; don`t hesitate to buy it. I have already read most of the books about Corvettes. This isn`t a book you read from cover to cover, but you will use it as a recipe like an encyclopedia. I have no problems about giving this book a 5 star. It absolutely worth it.

A wild thriller

Review Date: 2005-08-02
In Carson City, Nevada, Halford Turnbull negotiates with Jonathan Templeton exchanging a DVD that proves he did not commit murder for $20,000. However, before they complete the exchange Dogwood intercedes demanding the 20K belongs to him as Halford stole the loot form him. All hell breaks out with bullets firing everywhere. As the cops arrive, Halford escapes, but as he drives off a woman dives through the passenger window of his car.

Halford's new "partner" Apple Valley gives him instruction on how to get out of town with cops everywhere. He knows his only hope for freedom is to reach his brother Hanford who assumes Halford is guilty. The trek to Huntsville, Texas is dangerous with cops ready to bust him at every point, two groups of goons chasing after him for the DVD or the money or both, and even a local church wants to literally bust him. Only Apple Valley seems to get him through roadblocks, but he wonders what the former stripper wants of him.

2,000 MILES TO OPEN ROAD is a wild thriller in which everyone seems slightly deranged (eccentric seems too gentle of a description). Thus the audience will have a good time hitching along with Apple and Halford as it seems like half of Nevada want him dead, the money he stole, and the DVD he needs to prove his innocence. Readers who enjoy a wild ride will want to sit cannonball with the lead duo as they are chased across the southwest.

From a 1903 Packard to a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air Convertible to a 1992 Saturn--The 2000 Standard Guide to Cars & Prices is an exceptionally comprehensive price guide covering vehicles for most of the last century. Prices/values are shown using the "1 through 6" rating system, which is the standard in the auto-enthusiast arena. Also included are lesser-known vehicle makes and models, like the Frazer, the Hupmobile and the Henry J, as well as light domestic trucks and even imports. Even the book's size makes it convenient to carry in your own vehicle or to take to car shows. Cars & Prices is a must-have for the serious car collector, restorer, seller or admirer of classic and soon-to-be classic vehicles.
