I just bought it. I opened up on page 101 to find the Dr(%) formula (5.10) being wrong. This does not give me a warm feeling. I probably will be further disappointed with this book. I'll tell you more about it later.

My hope was to find a book with example problems that reflect the new PE exam format. This book has no end of chapter problems at all. And from what I read there was no difference in the depth and breadth sections. I did a side-by-side comparison of the environmental stuff and it was word for word. As far as I can tell the only thing the depth section (which is on CD) gives you is a bunch of charts you'll never use.

The book is full of errors. It is hard to follow, even harder to reference to during the Exam. There is nearly not enough information to got a decent overview of some of the more difficult material. It was a complete waste of money for me.

I recommend the Lindeburg book.

Paid over $90 for this book at Borders and was extremely dissapointed. The CD is an exact replica of what is in the book - Many equation errors and typos, no "practice test" questions as stated on the cover. The editors of this book are certianly not PEs and could never pass the test with this!

I only made it thru the first section of the geotechnical chapter and realized that I had to return this book. Formula errors and many errors in the solutions to sample problems. Find another review book and stay away from this one.

Minimal information

This manual does not even begin to let the owner know what or how to work on their vehicle. For a few dollars more I got the chrysler manual for my year pickup. I did not have to page thru extra information about manual vs. automatics or have to read information on three different years of models of my vehicle. If you want to have very good information then go for the original manual and forget this simpleton's view of automotives.

This book tries to do too much. I needed to change my oil pressure sending unit in my Dakota and there is no reference to an oil pressure sending unit much less a picture of one in this book. A waste of time and money.

Dirty page maintenance

I purchased this manual over a year ago and my Brother and I have replaced the carbeurator (87 only), head gasket, replaced radiatior and hoses, set rockers, learned the values of numerous electrical tasks we were stumbling over. The pages we use are referred to by us as dirty page maintenance, sort of a, been-there, done-that, symbolism. We are not mechanics, just broke enough to try the work ourselves. The manual has told, showed, and given hints to prevent oops-events. I give it Four Stars and have no reason not to give it Five.

This book is a waste of time.

Hayne`s Repair manules are a waste of time and money. I suggest anyone attempting to buy one : Don`t.

I concur with other reviews, vague/minimal information!

To place it short and sweet, I also have found this mannual to be lacking in technical information. In the past I found Hanynes' manuals to be very informative, but this one needs a unconditional money back guarantee. It is very vague. It appears to be more of a maintance manual than a repair manual, which is the main reason I bought it!

Not a good study guide

We used this book to study for the Texas State Journeyman Plumbers license test and no question in this book was asked on the test. Further, we could not find the answer in this book for any question we remembered from the test. We were greatly disapointed.

Very Disappointed!

We were very discouraged to find out that none of the material in the book is on any Journeymans test in N.C.! We can not see any use for this book as an aid to taking the Journeymans License Exam! It would be good reading for someone with no life and just likes to read for the sake of reading!

The contents proved to be unrelated to the exam for the masters license in Georgia. The material lacks depth, seems to be put together hastily, the explanations over simplified.

You're not missing anything from this book. It has some useful information, but there is a great disparity of organization inherent in this book. It's required reading for classes taught at Pasadena City College and Cal State Los Angeles. Unless you're looking for an alternative to a root canal or coming down from heroin, you would be better off staying away from this book!

I have a 2001 Ram and it is NOT in this book.
-ALL interior descriptions useless. Radio, speakers, lights, etc.
-According to this book, my rear disc brakes do not exist

There is no provision to report these errors or to get revisions.

So...if you have a 2001 Ram, don't waste your time or money. I'm off to buy a Chilton.......

I recently purchased this book. This book would be good for a gift to maybe a young enthusiast age 12. But for someone seeking thorough information about vipers, this is not your book. It had some good pictures with some blogs as it were to go with each picture. No real text information. I was very disapointed.

If you're looking for lively, colorful illustrations to enhance the story, don't buy this book. We were so disappointed that we sent it back. And for the cost, we expected something more than old black and white drawings and an outdated font.

So General it's Unusable
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2007-01-09
Greetings,
I have a 2002 Dodge Van. So few of the details listed in the manual
actually match the vehicle that I found it almost useless. While Hayes
makes a fine book, they try to blend so many vehicles that the details
that you need in order to work on a specific vehicle are not there.
In the past I have had many of the "Chilton's Manuals" for individual
vehicles and been please with them. I thought their decendants, the
"haynes Manuals" would be the same. Unfortunatly they are not.
Regards,
Rick B.
