Thirty postcards for a very little price is almost too much to believe for any Nancy Drew fan! Beautifully done, they show the cover art of Nancy's books throughout the ages.

These cards are useable as postcards (of course), but they also make great bookmarks for yourself, or enclosed with a book you are giving to a friend. Matte and frame them, and you'll have a gorgeous display that will thrill any nostalgia buff.

What a bargain!

I liked the book ,but it had its ups and downs. In this story a man by the name of Josiah Crowley has died resently ,and the will left behind has left Josiah's estate to the Topham family. Which meant that everything that Josiah had promised to other family members and frineds were disappionted because they didn't recieve what they were promised. Suposedly there was a later will, and it was no where to be found, so Nancy Drew was on the case of the missing will. Nancy met some of Josiah's family which meant a great deal of clues were bound to be uncovered. When Nancy met old Mrs. Rowen she found that she had some memorie loss, but became a great help in the case of a missing will. The old woman had remembered that Josiah liked to hide things that were valuable to him in ways. What came to the woman was that she remembered that he said something about the Crowley clock. After having a great adventure with theifs and the police she relized that the clock was the answer to the later Crowley will.

what can go on behind the scenes of historical events, give this book a read.

I met Bill Gibson before his book hit the shelves. I found him to be a reserved man, with an underlying sense of humor; only mentioning to me, he had a book coming out about his career as a professional photagrapher in the Navy. I asked him if he liked it on the Merrimac; oddly, he hardly speaks to me lately.

All jest aside, I'm not giving Bill's book five stars in order to be on speaking terms again, or for the rebate promised on my copy. Bill Gibson's "No Film In My Camera", will entertain all generations, and surely enlighten the younger; although parental guidance is suggested.

Bill brings us his personal perspective to major events and eminent icons of our history, with humor and dashing flair. Particularly dashing, when caught sunbathing on Enyu island.(One of the reasons for the PG rating.)

As I read, I couldn't help but envy his life, and imagine myself a member of his crew, partaking in the adventure.

Now that I've read the book, I find Bill to be a reserved man, with an underlying obsession for insane risk, and his humor a little less subtle, especially when I can talk him into a martini. BUY THIS BOOK, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Master story-teller!

As the wife of a career Navy photographer for many years, I was often asked, "What does a *photographer* do in the service?" Certainly, they are unsung heroes whose stories should be told. And now they have a master story-teller to do it: Bill Gibson. This book is sheer delight for all of us who were there, and many who will wish *they* had been when they read about it! Only the Twentieth Century could have produced Bill Gibson -- there will never be another. He not only lived history in many areas, but helped make it as well. "No Film" is such a good read that, although I tried to ration it to myself and make it last, I could not let it alone until I had read it all, and still go back to savor certain episodes again. I placed it on the shelf next to Tom Brokaw's two books about my generation, and I am hoping this remarkable person is at work on another.

Gibson is a supremely multi-talented author. His skill as a cameraman is met - and perhaps exceeded - as a gifted raconteur. He takes you along for a fascinating trip through history: World War 11, Africa, Viet Nam, Hollywood!, NASA and other adventures he was lucky to survive! From hanging off helicopters to crouching tigers - you can't get enough! This is a true page turner that proves again - great non-fiction has no equal. Gibson is a true Renaissance man....I hope he is writing a sequel. This is a book you will want to keep in your permanent library.

NO FILM IN MY CAMERA is an action-packed adventure from page one! Mr. Gibson's book is an eye-opening ride that took me to some of the most turbulent and exciting times in our nation's history. His accounts of daring assignments, and sometimes crazy adventures as a cameraman, are retold with passion and humor. After many years of telling stories with his camera, he now tells his own story with as much creativity and attention to detail. From being on the USS Hornet as she was attacked, to being a part of the early days of the Space Program, to encounters with world leaders and Hollywood celebrities, NO FILM IN MY CAMERA gives an eye-opening look at the never-dull life of an inventive, courageous, world-class cameraman.

A romantic suspense novel combining oceanography and an FBI agent... Who would've thought of it?

Riley knows that her grandfather, a famous oceanographer, did not cause the fatal accident that destroyed his vessel. However, when a corpse turns up near his home, he is suspected of worse -- he is suspected of murder.

Somehow, Riley persuades the reclusive John Straker to help her clear her grandfather. Or maybe he's simply coming along to keep her out of trouble...

This book shows what can happen when you combine a mystery with strong secondary characters. You get a much better mystery that way.

The hero and heroine started out on the wrong foot, and it took them a while to catch up. Though there was lots of sexual tension, I missed the witty banter I was expecting from a Carla Neggers book.

I gave this book a B at All About Romance.

Good blend of romance and mystery

This review is based on the audio tapes: This was my first book by Ms.Neggers, and although I don't usually read romantic suspense, I did enjoy On Fire. The hero and heroine (Riley St. Joe and John Straker) are two of the most obstinate, hard-headed people I'd ever met (and not in a bad way). Both are intent on solving the crimes and protecting loved ones, and in the process these childhood friends and adversaries find themselves falling in love with each other.

I enjoyed most the setting of Boston north to the coast of Maine. Carla Neggers has it down pat. The oceanographic setting for the story was one I'd not read before and I found it very interesting.

The tape's reader was excellent in that she was able to assume so many different voices, which I think is essential in a multi-character story. If there was one drawback it was that she dropped her voice too much at the end of many sentences, making it difficult to understand unless the volume was cranked up high. That aside, I would definitely try another of Ms. Neggers books on tape.

This book is a MUST for everybody who is involved in the film industry (composers, producers, directors, film and music editors, etc...) and wants to know the insides of composing film scores:

It has many examples, references, quotes and the expertise of such a great composer as Karlin is.

Wanna be serious in this business, must get it.

The Veda of Film Scoring

Fred Karlin and his orchestration teacher Rayburn Wright both passed away but their spirit comes alive through the pages of this book. Fred's love for film music and to impart fledgling composers to imbibe the intricacies of film music composition is well documented and presented and is current with examples of cues from movies till 2002 in the 2nd edition of the book. Fred's reverence for film composers is both inspirational and exhaustive and reveals what a brilliant human being he was. This world and the music community needs people like this who have taken their chosen art form and has the good heart to share that information which is hard earned to let other men take lead and become CAUSE over their own vistas of expression in film music. Fred is BRILLIANT AND ALIVE. It is inevitable that you can't help but think of him with gratitude and call out to him and say THANK YOU. These are the people who can bring about changes in the field of film music education and the evolution of man in general by helping us create better art. This is the Veda of Film Scoring. Its that good.

I was the pianist for my high school's performance of this musical, and when I heard the music (the 1997 CD), I fell in love immediately. As the rehearsal pianist, I played through this book three hours a day for two months, but the original appeal has not faded! In fact, since I have to return the book (it's a rental), I plan on purchasing it as soon as the show's over.

We all know the story of the Princess and the Pea, right? Well, this musical and its music book give it some well needed humor! Origianlly starring Carol Burnett, MATTRESS went on to make 2 TV movies and eventually star Ms. Sarah Jessica Parker, a now Emmy award winning actress. MATTRESS entered my life 12 months ago, and it is still here! For me, MATTRESS seems to have started my acting career. Buy this book if you need to learn songs for a role, or if you just want to add it to your Broadway collection!

This is probably THE greatest book I've found for re-examining & inspiring your teaching. The author's tone is friendly, coversational, and humorous, and ideas are clearly outlined--you can read it page by page or skim it for a small dose of inspiration. I reread it every summer & frequently leaf thru it throughout the year--there's TONS of great ideas in here, and even if some wouldn't work for your program it might help you brainstorm something that will. It's an educational book without the academic jargon & without the over-flowery language of someone who doesn't understand the science behind teaching. It's by a band director who just wanted to give his kids the best possible education he could, and just reading through the book makes me wish I'd grown up in his program.

Pathways assists teachers in running their daily music programs. There are lists of practical ideas, and ideas for doing things like taking roll to rehearsing - and everything in between. Depending on your teaching experience you may want to skip some of the information, for example a veteran teacher might want to focus more on creating music at a high level, while a new teacher might focus more on rehearsal technique. I used some of the techniques in this book in my class and found them to be effective and indeed they helped my students improve. Overall this book is good!

Simple, easy to use ideas and strategies that address real-life in-the-classroom issues of student motivation, attrition, and creating enjoyable and energetic learning environments. I have been using only a small handful of ideas and strategies listed in this book (about 5 of them right now out of thousands) and it has made a noticeable difference in my classes. This book should be required reading for any music education major, beginning or veteran teacher. IT'S THAT GOOD!!!

The book is not preachy or touchy-feely at all. It's just full of awesome ideas and really gets to the heart of what makes students tick. Worth it's weight in gold!

Through the years I have always been frustrated by the lack of a lyric sheet with Patti Smith's albums. I thought her marriage of poetry and rock deserved better. And there were many parts of her songs that I just couldn't make out, what with her broad NY drawl, so this book came as a godsend. And yes, I was invariably wrong in my guessing! So to the book: excellent photographs, insightful annotations and those wonderful songs that work equally well on the printed page but really come alive with her music. Excellent design, typography, layout; highly recommended.

It also offers info about the different players of the instrument, their tunings(copedants) and lots of photos. The pedal steel guitar is indeed a curious instrument and this book walks you through step by step to help you understand what it's all about.

I purchased the omnibus version after buying the single publication on tone. The Omnibus edition comes spiral bound and the pages can be sometimes unruly...slipping out of the slots of spiral binding and giving an untidy look to your sacred sheets of flute wisdom(which is rather annoying to this already disorganized musician).

I refer to the information in the tone section more than any other. The other 'books' in the omnibus were a bit sparse in terms of content. I am glad I spent under 30.00usd on the omnibus instead of buying each book individually.

For those musicians with a sense of humor, the writing style of the author is quite fun to read. His discussions are loaded with flute-specific musings, puns, and other subtle rhetoric. His writing style is ingenious...and a relief from the overly serious disctionary style we usually encouter in method publications.

Cute book! One massive complaint before moving on to details--the font. I hate being so nitpicky, but ugh, could there be a smaller, tougher-to-read font? Quite frankly, that's the only reason I'm docking a star, because sometimes, it just gets really hard to read, no matter how interesting the book is, when your head's throbbing from squinting at the pages.
Now on to specifics. I have a lot to talk about with the names. Obviously, the first name to discuss would be Love's. How amazing is that? I really want to name my kid Love or something like it now, that's got to be the prettiest name ever, and it suits her, too! Oh, the irony of it all, right? Another name: Robinson. Is it just me, or is the bad guy always named Robinson? And third, Jacob. Jacob, Jacob, Jacob. Anyone else seeing the horrible Jacob Black parallels here? He's the other guy, the friend. Kind of awesome.
Plot stuffs. Love's got the coolest Dad in the world, seriously. I would definitely love to see more about her mom, and seeing as we've now got a box of her letters, I think I'd bet we're about to learn more, and I'm excited. I totally saw the DrakeFan thing coming wayyyy early, it was pretty obvious that it was Jacob. I did not, however, see Love and Jacob together, although I thought they were adorable. You knew Robinson was the bad guy, the first guy, the 'lust' guy, he's always a bad guy, at least in the YAs.
The cultural references were stunning. Could it get any more Gilmore Girls than this? LOVE it.
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I thought I'd like this book a lot less than I did, and envisioned, God forbid, something more like "Prep". Glad that was disproved. Highly looking forward to the rest of the series!

Super witty, lucky, mysterious, and modern is Love's life, and reading about each of her experiences from an honest, confused, and lovable perspective is refreshing and addictive. I just can't wait for the next book next month!

This book is very great and so is the series. The books are short but packed with details of a young girl named Love. She is smart and funny even though she doesnt always see herself that way. The only downside is every book has a cliff hanger at the end so you have to get the next one or like me wait until they come out about six months apart. Even so, they are still some of the best books out there right now!

I Love This Book!!!!

According to a critic this book is suppose to accurately delve into boarding school life, but I think it accurately portrays adolescence whether it's set in public or private school. Of course this book is a fictional creation, so some of the events in the book are unreal (unless you're the luckiest teenager in the world), however this book is highly entertaining and you end up rooting for this character through her triumphs and mistakes. Another plus is the fact that, to a music lover like me, there are several really great (so far) references in the book that I've explored and have yet to explore. If you like fast reads, good plot lines, and music, this book is a must.
