APS treasure trove in a medical journal
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-05-20
For anyone with APS considering pregnancy or trying again after previously losing a pregnancy, this is a fabulous source of informaiton. The book itself is an issue of the Clinical Obstretrics and Gynecology professional journal. If you are not comfortable with medical terminology or factual discussions of the complications of a pregnancy with APS, the articles in this journal are not for you. However, this journal has been so helpful for me and my husband in helping us decide the difficulty of trying to get pregnant again.

The best anatomy coloring book--EVER!!!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-09-07
This coloring book is the most comprehensive and descriptive coloring book of them all. I learned so much just by coloring in all the pages. To this day, I use the pages that I colored over 20 years ago as a model when I explain to my patients about the symptoms they are experiencein (I am a physician assistant). You can't go wrong with this book!

A 'must' for any serious college-level vet collection is Heide Schatten and Gheorghe M. Constantinescu's COMPARATIVE REPRODUCTIVE BIOLOGY, also recommended as a basic classroom text for any college-level course on animal reproductive physiology and biology. Scientists noted in their fields provide discussions of domestic spies and provide both specific and broad knowledge reflecting recent advancements and studies, from cellular and molecular biology to animal cloning. Visual reinforcement pairs with authoritative text to make for a well-rounded presentation key to understanding domestic animal reproductive systems.

An essential guide for health care professionals.
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2000-04-10
This is a question and answer book. It is not easy to read as a narrative but is excellent for a problem solving approach. As a General Practitioner, I use this book several times each week. It is probably a good reference book for the non-professional to use if they want more information about contraception.

There is a new edition arriving soon...

This is a coloring book of full-page drawings of women's vaginas.

The author's comments will speak better to this book than I could -

'In 1973 I set out to do drawings of women's genitals for use in sex education groups. I wanted the drawings to be lovely and informative, to give pleasure and affirmation. I organized the drawings into a coloring book because a major way we learn to understand the world, as children, is by coloring. As adults many of us still need to learn about our external sexual anatomy.' -Tee Corinne

Anthology of Feminism, Technoscience and Reproduction
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 2000-05-29
Sixteen essays make a contribution to "cyborg anthropology" and "cyborg feminism." Volume considers human reproduction through the lens of an interrogation of the cyborg metaphor, its power, pleasure, promise, and threat. Section one essays discuss medico-technological interventions in conception and contraception including production of "technosemen." Section two includes essays by Emily Martin, Rayna Rapp and others, examining gestation and the use of medical imaging (ultrasound) and screening (amniocentesis) technologies to produce "normal" and "healthy" fetuses. Section three essays consider technobirth, focusing on the medical monitoring and management of the mother's body. Section four considers childrearing in a digital culture, including essay by Sherry Turkle on cyborg babies in a culture of "simulation." Exceptional introduction by David-Floyd and Dumit provides historical/theoretical overview of cyborg metaphor as quintessential postmodern myth and tool.

Fascinating overview of the birth control movement.
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1998-08-03
Cleverly and skillfully written, this book reads like an entertaining detective novel. Starting with Malthus and ending with the current debate over birth control and family planning, Dr. Sripati Chandrasekhar (arguably the world's leading demographer and initiator of India's family planning movement) takes the reader on a journey of discovery, illuminating the difficult struggles that led to the reproductive freedom that (some) women now have.

This book is informative and entertaining. I highly recommend it for any person who is interested in the history of the birth control/family planning movement. I also recommend it for any person who is concerned about the relationship between government legislation and individual freedom.
