Barbara Altman Bruno PHd offers a powerful possibility in her book " Worth Your Weight"...a shift of awareness helps the "fat unaccepting person" who suffers, information and alternatives. This book is for anyone who has a weight problem. It really CAN solve these weight problems, and in a surprising way. This is not another diet book, but a book that helps all of us in looking at our weight in a new way.

The major point of the book: any weight problem is located between your ears. The book does not dismiss any (potential) health problems associated with high body weight, but gives a way to work with your weight that really works. Given that diets do not work in the long term, and that current research seems to indicate that there are biological reasons that diets cannot work, Barbara Altman Bruno shows a way to promote health while accepting the weight nature (and your history) has given you.

Strongly recommended.

I enjoyed reading this book tremendously. It was such an eye opener, and more importantly, brought awareness to my day-to-day activities. This is not a typical diet book! The reader can make informed, smart lifestyle decisions through understanding and from Todd's suggestions. Not only was it informative and entertaining to read, it was motivating!

The problem with the conventional wisdom regarding losing weight is that if you exercise more and eat less you can reduce your weight -- and maintain the weight level that you want. The problem is that for most of us, conventional wisdom isn't all that wise! Todd Hoff lost more than 100 pounds and in the process discovered why losing weight is so difficult, why being overweight isn't a matter of 'fault', the science behind weight loss (and gain), and how to permanently control weight through creating the perfect and personalized diet for ourselves within the context of our lifestyles. Basically what Hoff has done in "Your Designer Diet: How To Stay On Any Diet For The Rest Of Your Life" is to lay out a program that we can customize to our own life circumstances, our own personal strengths, and which is compatible with our own schedules -- be they hectic or leisurely. Hoff's basic message\ is that we can be in control of our weight, we can learn how to stay on any diet, how to avoid threats to our dieting success, diverse and effective strategies for losing weight, and maintaining our weight loss through simple daily monitoring. Absolutely love the book. "Your Designer Diet" is filled with original ideas, leading edge research results and humor!

Todd is frank about his personal experience. He truly practices what he believes in.

"Joyful eating" is my favorite in the book. If you are interested in
genuinely enjoy food ( and LIFE), jump to "Joyful eating" in chapter 14.

Rich Walters is a prolific writer who doesn't waste time on a lot of fluff. He gets down to the nitty gritty giving you the quintessential information you need to succeed at body sculpting. I am personally involved in carrying out Rich's daily plan and find that my body is getting stronger every day. I only spend the few minutes that Rich proscribes, and it works...and it'll work for you too!

This book is easy to follow. The recipes are awesome, the diet is easy and the exercises are very easy to do. I lost 4 pounds the first week and feel like my stomach is flatter. I totally recommend this book for everyone. The author agrees that you do have to combine diet with exercise; which I think is wise. On this diet I eat a lot, I just avoid cakes and cookies and only eat certain fruits late at night.

This book is great for anyone who wants to find ways to lose weight quickly without a lot of effort. As is the case with most diet books, the tips may not highlight the most sound nutritional practices, but it gets the job done. What I liked best is that the author explains in detail that this is a great way to JUMP START a diet....not lose weight permanently (you'll be better off in the long run if you look at other methods to promote long-term weight loss and keep the weight off safely) and there is enough variety in this book to satisfy anyone's tastes. This book presents good ideas without alot of fluff; it's short and to the point. Good ideas to start you on the way to weight loss.

Finally! We found this step-by-step guide really helped us. It was proven ways (seven in fact) to lose weight. We found it realistic without unnecessary preliminaries. It understood our need to loose weight quickly for a recent special occasion, and it worked. We found this no-frills approach doing no less than what it promises. It was a pleasure to loose weight without needing to join a club or take exotic herbs, invest in expensive drugs, or do extraordinary exercise. We have recommend it to friends. A couple of weeks before a cruise it helped them shape up before shipping out.

Dr. Clouatre gives you all the facts on the nutritional science behind the various reasons different people get fat and/or stay fat--but he puts it into plain, easy-to-understand language. He explains how "food couplings," vitamins, minerals and basic food nutrients (like amino acids vs. fatty acids) affect my body. This book helps the aging 30 or 40 something learn how to feel and look 20 again! Visiting a place like Puritan's Pride [...] saves you money when you finish this book--you'll want to go out and buy everything Dr. Clouatre recommends!! He focuses on GETTING LEAN, not losing weight, and if your goal is to be healthy, you NEED this book!

After following the diet in this book I lost 43 pounds. The diet allows you to eat a lot of food and is easier to follow that stictly protein diets because you never totally feel deprived. You can have a little of every food type, just not together. I was able to stick to it for an extended period of time (about 1 1/2 years) and eat more food than I can normally eat. Unlike low fat diets (which sometimes caused a weight gain) this diet was painless and I never felt hungry. I supplemented with vitamins, but did not use all the supplements listed. It was the diet, and the addition of healthy oil to my diet that worked for me. The book was brief and easy to read. The diet was simple to follow. The biochemical information was valuable.

A well written, motivating book. Dr. Taub takes the food,diet, and exercise corporations to the mat. Dr. Taub educates us on the corporate grooming of our nutritional needs.This is a scientific, truthful look at the myths surrounding how and what we eat. You will never look at milk the same way again. Good education on why and how our bodies function. Excellent suggestions for creating healthy habits. Easy to read, tough to put down. I've been following his suggestions for three weeks and felt better about my health in one. This is a book for life.

This is the best comprehensive book I've read on becoming healthy (and I've researched 'becoming healthy' extensively). It's written for the average person who wants to avoid prevalent diseases of the US (overweight, cardiovascular, diabetes, cancer, osteoporosis...). It's easy to understand what you need to do and the effects are long-term. Best of all it doesn't take a denial approach to eating.

The reading goes quickly even though repetitive sometimes. The information is up to date and is what your doctor should be telling you!

Note: This book isn't as much for people who want to be 100% healthy, as it targets a broud range of people. If your goal is to be 100% healthy, I'd recommend looking for literature on raw or living foods, juicing, and colon care.

This was definately a good read. The whole book had all the elements of comedy, suspense, romance, and mystery. Nate's blend of words made the book unique like himself. You can wonder on how much each character resembles the author. Alter egos? I think you can relate to all of the characters on some level. The relationships that the character had with each other seemed to be a page from my life. I enjoyed this book all the way from the crazy cult to the three squirrels and i recommend this to anyone who has a craving for campy woods stories and the role crazy people and friends have in common.

This book makes for a great "carry around". It reads less like a book and more like a guide for maintaining weight. The author does not speak down to you, and appears to be somebody that understands the struggle of weight maintance. The blend of humor and helpful hints makes it well worth the money, and it may just help you out.

Alicia Garrett Cathell has written a book that addresses what it is like to be a "real" woman fighting weight loss. Cathell is the best friend a woman would like to have during the struggle of losing weight. She has been there! I recommend this book to anyone who wants practical and reasonable dieting tips laced with a great sense of humor!
