A wonderful book--it is a crime that it is out of print. Beautiful illustrations, particularly the evocative images of nighttime. The book gets the reader thinking about the work that goes on before the food we eat gets to market.

What a Fabulous role playing tool for adults & children

I bought this for my daughter in 1999 and am surprised that it now is OP. If you enjoy the veggie tale stories and videos then you & your little ones will appreciate this "game". I say game for lack of a better word. It's not a win/lose game but a teaching and learning game for the children that provides hands on activity. The toys are made superbly. They are of a heavy weight and stand up to much abuse in our house. Their colors are just as vibrant here as they are in all the videos and books. The set comes with a set of instructions that give several different suggestions to use the toys constructively so it allows variety also for the kids - especially as they get older. I've used the set accompanied by the video as well as solo. The power these toys have to teach a little ones heart and mind is so powerful. Two thumbs up! Mother of 2.

Reviewed by Cayden (age 3-1/2) and Max (age 19-months) Aures and Mom for Reader Views (4/08)

"Biscuit's Pet & Play Easter" is a fun touch-and-feel holiday board book. Biscuit the puppy is on an Easter egg hunt and along the way to finding the eggs he encounters a fuzzy chick, a grassy garden, a silky butterfly and a bunny.

Cayden: "We went on an Easter egg hunt the other day!"
Max: "Eggs!"

Max: On the page with the chick: "Beep! Beep!"
Cayden: "No Max- it is Peep! Peep!"
Max: "Peep! Peep!"

Cayden: "I like the page with the glittery eggs because they are shiny and sparkly!"

Mom: "What is your favorite page Max?"
Max: Points to the first page: "Chick"
Mom: "Why is that your favorite?"
Max: "Soft"

We have other Biscuit books so my children were already familiar with the character of Biscuit and enjoy sharing in his adventures. Max loves to copy Biscuit saying "Woof! Woof!" on every page. Both children really enjoy touch-and-feel books and this one was especially nice with a lot of variety in textures. "Biscuit's Pet & Play Easter" is a cute, playful book to help put you into the spirit of the Easter season.

Politics and religion!

Mark Ellingsen does a great job at revealing how politics are determined by what people believe. Understanding and accepting the truth about the way human nature is will explain the dynamics of a society which will in turn give the opportunity for the hope of America's revival back to the way it once was. It's obvious though that given human nature being as it is, people don't want to know the truth. A good example of that is simply shown by how many reviews there are on this well-written book.

So you really want to be a director?
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-04-21
Mr. Brountas is an elder statesman of the American corporation and of venture capital. If you are considering serving on the Board of Directors of an American corporation, this is the first book you should read, preferably before accepting a seat.

He tells you what your responsibilities are to the Board, to the Chairman of the Board and especially to the stockholders. Consequently he educates you on legal matters and government compliance.

But the real value of the book is for those who actually want to be good directors. Mr. Brountas begins with ethics, but moves into the higher levels of governance to help you be an active member, not a silent rubber stamp collecting payment for going along. Active board members drive the senior managers and give counsel and direction. You can further serve on a special committee of the board that draws on your particular expertise.

Finally, he helps you decide whether or not a particular corporation is good for you in turn. It is not good enough for you to be a good governor in principle. The corporation must be good enough for you to be effective as well. Otherwise, not only will you do no good, you could land in harm's way from a shareholder's action, other litigation or government action. Highly recommended.

The Boom of Biotechnology and its implications
Helpful Votes: 11 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 2003-05-31
The Body Electric deals with the science of the merging of biology and technology. In it, James Geary discusses the advances in biotechnology and provides a glance into the future when new technologies may replace organs and repair and enhance the senses. Devices made of silicon will eventually enhance the human brain and body in ways unheard of today. In the chapter titled Sight/Vision Thing, we learn that computers will be able to analyse facial expressions for various purposes. In the chapters Hearing/Sounds Of Science and Smell/Advances In Odour Space the possibility is raised of transporting odours and flavours via the internet and if this will become just another advertising tool. There are also Taste/Fun With Electric Tongues; Touch/The World Is Your Interface, in which haptic interfaces are discussed, and finally, Mind/The Sixth Sense. The convergence of biology and technology is a fascinating field; this book also addresses some of the psychological, sociological and philosophical implications of these future technologies. The discussion on new bionic senses becoming available is very interesting, like the possibility of seeing infrared and ultraviolet light, plus the possibility of hitherto unknown senses becoming available. The whole framework of existence is changing as the human body becomes electric, opening wider the doors of perception. This great book contains 13 illustrations and concludes with an extensive bibliography and a helpful index.

Old-fashioned common sense and values that apply today!

This book is not only entertaining reading, it now occupies a place in my office bookshelf! In this book are great quotes, sayings, colloquialisms, and other "pearls of wisdom" that apply themselves wonderfully to your speeches and presentations too! I and my husband have read and enjoyed this book, and are always throwing quotes at each other from it (like, "...when you find yourself in a hole...STOP DIGGING!"). Not only is this a book you will want to treat yourself to, you will want to get a few to give as gifts, too!
