Abbe Jules is quite simply the best novel i have read to date. One of a trilogy of angry young men novels, Abbe Jules is narrated by a young boy growing up in the bourgeas (i don't know how to spell that) of a small french town. His uncle is the priest of the title, a complicated man, viscious, mean sprited, oppressed by his chastity - not your average priest. Basically the gist of the story is that the young boy is taught by his Oncle l'Abbe Jules....and that's it really - you have to read it yourself - which is a joyous task. The language Mirbeau uses is the purest poetry in parts, even if he does get carried away at times. This isn't a very good review.
Read Abbe Jules, I urge you i urge you i urge you.

There are few journalists out there capable of handling such complex issues with the grace and integrity of Weisberg. I recommend it wholeheartedly, though ignore the title, most likely an editorial mishap.

Dr. Schinzel was my high school chemistry teacher, and I would like to say that he is a great guy and a great teacher. I am ordering this book as we speak and I'm sure that it has some great insight into creating better public schools.

While everyone has a philosophy that guides their lives, relatively few consciously articulate that philosophy or realize the complexities, paradoxes, or inconsistencies it embodies. "The Aesthetic Sense of Life: A Philosophy Of The Everyday" by Bruce Fleming (Professor of English, U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland) focuses upon how we should view the world around us and derive value from living fully in the present. Professor Fleming deftly considers basic answers to basic questions in an articulate and 'reader friendly' text making clear the value and meaning of becoming 'life aware' every minute of our waking day. "The Aesthetic Sense of Life" is a cogent and persuasive argument that the meaning of our lives is to be found in the ordinary patterns of our lives, in being conscious of those patterns and the multitude of small life experiences from which those patterns are derived. Indeed, that it is our very awareness of the details of those patterns that create our aesthetic appreciation for the richness and meaning of the 'everyday'. A welcome addition to academic library reference collections, "The Aesthetic Sense of Life" is especially recommended to the attention of the non-specialist general reader with an interest in aesthetics, philosophy, values, and self-awareness.

This book is extremely well written, with a keen sense of understanding. Well argued, with thorough knowledge of relevant literature. Unlike so much philosophy a good read and easily comprehended. A major advance in the field.

"101 Common Sense Tips for Building a Great Career" is compact, but comprehensive, simple, yet powerful. This small book is filled with outstanding advice for building a sound career. The form and format of this book make it easy to carry in your jacket pocket or purse for easy access for those wasted minutes, in line, at the doctor's office, or while waiting for a late appointment.
The book is designed topically under major headings entitled "Ten Keys to Building a Great Career." The 101 common sense tips that follow are organized in short, numbered paragraphs. These common sense tips come to life as you incorporate, and assimilate them in career strategy.
The book is timely and contemporary. Cell phone courtesy, appropriate dress codes, business etiquette, and simple manners have a place in Bud Bilanich's common sense tips.
Two tips I found helpful were: numbers 65, and 67, in the personal organization section. "Eliminate clutter. When in doubt, throw it out. Don't hang on to a lot of stuff you'll never use or read." And "Begin work on large projects at the end of the day. When you return in the morning you will have momentum."
This little book is filled with common sense wisdom and should be incorporated in every business school curriculum. The book highlights the best principles of leadership. It is a reminder of the force energized within when the basics are done well.
"101 Common Sense Tips for Building a Great Career" is an important resource for anyone looking for a fuller life, through a more successful career.
