Reproductive Health Books

This book is incredible! It is a detailed anatomy and physiology text, but applied to childbearing. So it covers the major body systems, but talks about how childbearing affects them also. Then it goes into the physiology of birth and its complications- just incredible. I recommend this to every midwifery student out there, and midwives as well!

This is the definitive work on human Laboratory Andrology. Not only does Dr. Mortimer give detailed protocols for performing laboratory testing of male fertility, but he also provides the scientific background for each test and clinical significance of the results. In addition, he discusses quality control and laboratory management issues. Each section is clearly written with straightforward explanations. There are excellent illustrations throughout. As a practicing Andrologist, who directs an Andrology Laboratory, I can not imagine getting by without this reference. I highly recommend this text to anyone who performs semen analysis. The text would also be of interest to sperm biologist working with domestic, exotic and research species.

The 3rd edition published in 2003 is out. Barnes and Nobel has it.Why don't you have it?

This is a superb introduction to reproductive, obstetric, and perinatal epidemiology, with chapters reviewing most of the important topics in the field. Methodological issues are presented in manner that will be understandable to non-epidemiologically oriented readers. I especially recommend it to graduate students in epidemiology and maternal & child health and to obstetric residents and fellows.

I have red this book few month ago. This is the best book about gynecologyc endocrinology and human reproduction definitely.Except basic scientiphyc aprroach there are lot of practical clinical advises. I am recommending this book to all gynecologists. The best part is about PCOS and cronic anovulations.

For such a serious and possibly-dry subject, this is an interesting book, and it's full of fascinating information. It opened my eyes to how differently these seven countries (and probably every country) handle reproductive rights and practices, based on their unique social evolutions. One of the surprising things is how backward the United States is in most of these areas. The most progressive is Denmark where 80-some percent of all teens use birth control the first time they have sex! What an improved society we would have if we could get to that place. Easy to read!

a must have book for any student or resident

The author gives a guideline that takes you to the world of Sexology...The way that the author writes the Sexual History-taking,Interviewing and Assesment gives general aspects that are important to conduct the first step on Sextherapy. Sexual Dysfunctions are shown as a comprehensive matter...I would like to give a special attention to the part of the book where the author writes an important aspect of Medications and Sexual Function...It reminds me Helen Kaplan...

Many pediatricians and pediatrics residents own Smith's Recognizable Patterns of Malformation. However, this text is not as widely used and discussed. It's a great addition to "...Patterns of Malformation". Mechanical deformation patterns often overlap with malformation sequences, and the text is careful to separate the two and focus on deformations secondary to fetal constraint, fetal position and presentation.

Many issues pertinent to general and subspecialty pediatric practice are covered. On a newborn nursery rotation, I used the book repeatedly when encountering various deformations in newborns including: calcaneovalgus, metatarsus adductus, talipes equinovarus, DDH, polydactyly (pre-axial and post-axial). The pictures are color and of high quality. Each deformity is defined. Epidemiology, work-up, management and treatment strategies are discussed.

A great addition to your library if you work in a pediatric field.
