The quality of the books are excellent. I had a problem receiving the books, though. When tracking them I was told they were delivered, but I had never received them. I got connected with customer service through the website and they helped make things right by re-sending my order. These books came in the same time I should have received my other books. I feel confident that I can order through Amazon again and they will make sure that I am satisfied. Thank you, Amazon!

Honestly one of the most inspiring books I have ever read. I minister to the homeless and everytime I re-read what I have high-lighted, I want to run off & serve God even more. I highly recommend this book. But if you share books with others, buy 2 copies b/c you will want to re-read yours often. She is such an amzing woman. I felt like this book was a personal letter to me. It took away some of the fear I harbored in the work I do. Praise God!

The devotion of Mother Teresa should be an inspiration to us all (whether you are Catholic, Eastern Orthodox or Protestant; Christian or non-Christian). I'm a Methodist and I see in Mother Teresa a true imitation of Christ. She reminds us of God's love and how God uses us to minister to one another.

While I was growing up, people would call Mother Teresa a "living saint" (I grew up and still live in a heavily in a Catholic neighborhood). Recent evidence reveals that she sometimes wrestled with doubts and frustrations. This has actually enhanced my appreciation for her, in that I see Mother Teresa now as more a human being, who struggled along like the rest of us, and could relate with our faults and trials better than someone of superhuman constitution.

Her feeling for the poor; that is the economically, as well as, spiritually poor, gives us all a lot to think about. Whatever religion you are, I am sure you can find comfort in Mother Teresa's gentle spirit:

"I deal with thousands of Christians and non-Christians, and in each you can see such conscience at work in their lives, drawing them to God...If everyone were capable of discovering the image of God in their neighbors, do you think we would still need tanks and generals?"

This book is pure inspiration. You realize how selfish the world is after reading this humble book. Mother Teresa is often in my thoughts now. And for that reason, this book is priceless.

This book is not for someone who's never brewed but if you've done it a few times, this book will get you hooked. The methods, ingredients, and everything else about this makes you want to try brewing in ways you probably wouldn't imagine otherwise.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a little adventure in their brewing.

I just started home brewing, and I want more--Randy Mosher's book gives me that. This book gives a full spectrum on brewing, from the history to the chemistry to tons of recipes for creating many different types of beer. This guy has a great sense of humor, and the book is also very visually engaging. This book answered many of my questions about how beer brewing works and what to do and what not to do. Most of the recipes he gives have instructions for beginners and advanced brewers, so this book can definitely "grow" with you. I would suggest brewing a few batches first, before trying the more advanced techniques, and/or purchasing the other books described in these reviews as companions. I was really happy to see that there are so many possibilities for home brew, and the author's enthusiasm motivates me to try them. A great book!

Superior writing, excellent illustrations, priceless information

This as my first brewing book and still my favorite. If you get one brewing book, this is the one. While not encyclopedic in brewing details, it shines in inspirational historical insight into what beer IS.
A joy to behold, you will not be disappointed!

This book is fantastic. It has more recipes for extract brewers and all grain brewers alike than you can poke a stick at and each cattegory of ingredient imaginable is placed into a table so you can compare and find out more about what interests you. I found the detailed chapter on hops to be most beneficial to me. There is a chart with all known hop types and how they may be used and what substitutes could be used instead. Well worth having this as a great reference.

Great read, great ideas!

I'm enjoying this book immensely. This is my second home brewing book (Papazian was the first, about 15 years ago). Like Papazian, "Radical Brewing" includes plenty of lore in addition to hard core brewing info. And like Papazian this book has lots of humor in it. But Mosher's book is much more current, in terms of both information and viewpoint. And the humor is sardonic where Papazian's humor tends to be more goofy and quaint.
If anything "Radical Brewing" is slightly less practical than "The Joy of Homebrewing." It seems like Mosher focuses on giving the reader inspiration rather than step-by-step instructions, which is very wise considering how individualized each batch of homebrew is. Papazian has a certain recipe mentality, where Mosher is instead setting forth ideas and techniques. Good stuff, particularly for the intermediate or advanced brewer. Highly recommended.

This book is an excellent read start to finish. Topics are introduced gradually, the same topics are dug dipper as we proceed. The author makes sure you understand clearly as we proceed.
No confusions created with too many scribblings and notes, going back and forth; like in the "Head First..." I had to drop that one at end of 2 chapters, you can refer to that for some examples if at all.
With this book I never had to refer to anything at all. I definitely recommend this book over the "Head First..."

This is a good book to learn the concepts of EJB but for the exam you need the HFEJB book.
The details of Context objects (which method of Context object you can use in which method call of the Bean class) are more descriptive in HFEJB
If you are planning to sit for the exam this book should be accompanied by HFEJB

This is a very good book on a complex subject. Explanations of the concepts are easy to understand. Exam objectives are covered in detail with example codes and review questions.
Each chapter covers the individual exam objectives as well as summarizing the gist. Logical organization of the chapters helps conceptualize even the toughest topics.

The Quick Prep Appendix for last-minute cramming and free downloadable Whizlabs SCBCD exam simulator are very effective tools for the exam.

I recommend this book as must have SCBCD exam preparation book that can be also used as a reference book on EJB.

I used this book as a primary preparation tool for the Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD) exam. Being a beginner in EJB, I found this book to be very friendly. I liked the layout of the book in general and the writing style of the author in particular. Only relevant pieces of code are presented to focus explanation of topic in question. A complete running application may be downloaded from the author's website. The multiple choice questions at the end of every chapter and ALERTs in every chapter made remembering main points easier. Deployment descriptor elements are clarified in considerable detail and they are explained well. Please note that there are errors in this book - some of them are fairly obvious such as using a capital letter as opposed to a small letter (Java versus java) while others are not so obvious but noticeable by experienced java developers. Regardless of its minor faults, I consider this book to be a valuable addition to my library. Normally I would have a cut a star for the errors but because of its content quality, I felt compelled to give 5 stars. I just passed the exam today thanks to this book. I know that I will not hesitate to buy another book from this author. Thanks Mr.Sanghera! I recommend this book highly without any reservations whatsoever.

The author catches hold of your interest from page one and leaves you wanting a sequel at the end of her story. It is a quick read and guaranteed to hold your interest. I highly recommend it.

"Shalom in my heart, salaam on my lips" - dieses Buch ist ein wirklich sagenhafter Reisebericht.

Street Love or JUST STRAIGHT UP STREET!

This book let me down a little because it wasn't what I anticipated. It really wasn't about Love or the gangster girl with the gangster guy so if that's what your looking for this is not the book for you... CREAM which was a Triple Crown publication was much better and a lot sexier.

The 1st story is simply an excerpt from TORN by Keisha Ervin which I had just finished so I didn't even read it in Street Love....

The 2nd story by Danielle Santiago's was some what sexy but moved really fast and ended dumb and unrealistic.

Quentin Carter's story the FINK was all about snitching and some lying skank! Lol

T. Styles' story cold as ice in my opinion was the best.. it was very different not what u expect and is suspenseful. It was like a movie! I loved how he wrote it and how in the end ALL of the open ended questions were answered the story will leave U satisfied.

Sullivan's B-More Love was straight it was more so about family tragedy, love, over coming negativity, and opposites attracting. I know its fiction but this story was just a little too FAKE 4 me I mean really nobody would get away with certain things that Jamal was doing without being locked up! But it was an okay read.

I would suggest this book be borrowed not bought! Lol

When you have the right ingredients and mix them well, the end result is a extraordinary product. And in the case of Street Love that's exactly what happened. Street love in a combination of five good authors who bring spark and interest to the literary world. While I have had this book for a minute, it is only of late that I read all of the stories. I found favor in each of the author's stories and wish that all of them were full novels. Each author, is truly worthy of Kudos...so my hats off to Keisha Ervin, Danielle Santiago, T. Styles, Quentin Carter, and Leo Sullivan. If you want five great short reads than this is what you have been looking for!

This was a good read. All of the stories were interesting but 4 some reason I could not get into Mr. Carter's story. Ms. Ervin's story is continued in the book Torn and I strongly urge U 2 pick it up, it gets alot better. Ms. Santiago's story is also continued in her book yet 2 be released, Allure of the Game. This was my first time reading Mr. Sullivan's work but I was extremely pleased. The book is very well written and a nice quick read.

Love Changes

Review Date: 2008-03-30
STREET LOVE, an anthology by Triple Crown Publications contains
five dramatic, explosive short stories.

Keisha Ervin brings the heat with Mo and Quan in After the Storm. Mo
and Quan have been together for eight years. Even though the magic
has left the relationship, neither wants to be the first to say
goodbye. All of their respective secrets are about to be revealed
and this time, their relationship may crumble from the aftershocks.

The Game by Danielle Santiago is the story of Butta. He has fallen
in love with Arnessa, a drug dealer who enters the game to take care
of her younger sister. Arnessa catches unwanted attention from
rival, Suef and is focused on eliminating him. Will The Game catch
up with her when her little sister gets caught up?

Quentin Carter's contribution to STREET LOVE is The Fink, a story
about the trials and tribulations of being a snitch. After spilling
the beans on his best friend and business partner for a reduced
sentence, will Phelix be able to stay alive long enough to enjoy the
fruits of his labor?

Cold as Ice by T. Styles gives readers a glance into the life of
Pepper Thomas. Pepper is a young girl frustrated by the lack of
funds in her household, but a golden opportunity falls into her lap
after her criminal neighbors are robbed. Does Pepper have the heart
to go through with her plans?

Leo Sullivan provides STREET LOVE with B.more Love, the love story of
Ashley and Jamal. Ashley is a straight A student with no desire to
be with a baller and Jamal is a stick up kid. Drawn together by a
series of tragic events, will their newfound love last?

STREET LOVE is a complete anthology of some of urban fiction's
hottest authors. Each story is a love story with a twist on the
timeless themes of love, loyalty and honesty. All of the stories
included are strong enough to stand alone as a novel. Keisha Ervin's
newest release, Torn, is the continuation of After the Storm and is
one of the best books I have read in 2007. Vickie Stringer has done a
superb job of selecting the hottest stories to be included in STREET
LOVE. If you are a lover of urban fiction, you definitely add this to
your to read list.

I first read this book some 30 years ago and I just reread this book for the first time in many years. I remember now why I have often said if I were stranded on a deserted island and could only take one book with me, "Testimony of Two Men" would be that book.

I read a LOT by many good and well-known contemporary authors but today's authors write BOOKS.....Ms. Taylor wrote literature.

Taylor Caldwell had a gift of testing the depths of despair that the human soul can endure and in Testimony of Two Men, the story of brilliant physician Jonathan Ferrier, she outdid herself. A brutally honest man, Jon Ferrier is at war with the people he was trained to -- and is still driven to - - heal. In her introduction, Taylor Caldwell said that she wrote the story in testimony to the brilliant physicians who brought us kicking and screaming into the twentieth century, physicians who were seen as prophets by some and madmen by others. Through all of his travails weaves Jonathan's love for the beautiful and tempestuous Jenny, who rescues him from absolute self-destruction. Read it.

On my LITERARY LIFE LESSONS personal library shelf

Review Date: 2007-01-07
There are few books I deem worthy to stand on a place on my LITERARY LIFE LESSONS book shelf in my own personal library in my house, and this is one of them.
I first read this book when I was 15, and have re-visited it ever since. I learn something different each time I read it, and so it remains on my esteemed library shelf.
There are so many lessons one can learn from the words of this author - she was send by God's literary angels to help us who struggle to understand the great mystery of Life with their peek into a smidgeon of The Great Understanding of Life. Throwing in pieces of factual tidbits throughout the story of what life was like for the 20th century medical professional (??) is an added bonus for those interested in history. And, of course, she remains true to the sharing of how difficult it was simply to be born female before and at the first half of the 20th century. I pray all of us women will band together to provide the support and strength of spirit that only those with curves can possibly understand. I'm tired of the "race card" crap being touted by women. We are women. That, to me, is the ultimate way to celebrate (and mourn) this life, as we create life by just being who we are. To me, woman supercedes mere "race." No matter our skin color, type of hair texture, and shape of eyes: we suffer the same on the insides, where we are all the same colors.
For men:
Those who read this novel will gain a valuable key to unlock a deeper understanding of the female entity.
Read and learn.

This is indeed a holistic approach. I have been with horses for over forty years and I have read so many new ideas about our relationship with horses. It is an honest book of an honest man, concerned with the wellfare of horse and human. I am sad I have not read this book 30 years earlier (it was not published then). My horses would have deserved it and my relationship with them would have been all the better for it.

I have always wanted horses since I was a small child, growing up with my Uncle's horses. There has always been a connection between me and horses. I just purchased two of the most beautiful Arabian horses, later in life. My little boy has been abused and is 4 years old and is in training. When I purchased him, you couldn't get close to him and put a halter on him, and now he follows me arround and wants to be right next to me. My little girl is 2 and has always been loved and is really sweet. I spent two weeks bonding with my little boy and we have such love and communication between us that he is a different horse and really trust me. I bought this book and realize that as a novice, I did the wrong thing of buying 2 green horses. I felt something when I saw them and knew that we were ment to be together. I will tell you that I could not put this book down until I finished it. I realized all the things I was doing wrong....and all the things that I was doing right. I love my horses so much and they know it as soon as they see me. I would really like to meet Sam someday and learn more from him. I highly reccommend this book to everyone. I know that I should of bought older, and trained horses, but the love I have for my beautiful babies grows everyday. I know I need to learn....and I belive in Sam's way of training. I know I will be alot more wiser in what I do now....but I have patience and hope I will be a good partner and companion to the two best horses in the world.

I had bought this book originally as a good all around read, but ended up needing a lot of its valuable information when I purchased a gelding at an auction. Something just made my hand go up, even though the horse reared in the ring. I thought I had brought home a mistake until I went back and started to re-read Mr. Powell's book. I even e-mailed him at his address for additional help. Needless to say, 18 months later, this horse is the friendliest, most willing-to-please horse in our pasture. The potential I saw him at the auction has come full circle thanks to the wisdom in Mr. Powell's book. Thanks Sam! This is a must read for all horse people!

ANDREA CARTER AND THE FAMILY SECRET

Andrea has no idea the man she and her friends rescue isn't quite what he lets on, but she has other things to occupy her mind when she finds her home invaded by a woman and her three unruly kids. She has no desire to welcome the strangers into her home, especially when her eldest brother, on her insistence, reveals a family secret that devastates Andrea. Can she get past her hurt to protect those in her care?

This book though it takes place in the past reminds me of my contemporary novel MY SUMMER JOURNAL: THE RESCUE because of its active young heroine who grows in her faith as she deals with very serious adventures. Read complete review at AUTHOR'S CHOICE REVIEWS [...]

Susan Marlow has done it again! FAMILY SECRET is full of suspense, humor and edge-of-your-seat action!

The characters are fully rounded, but don't come across as "perfect". They call to the reader and engage them to be part of the story, not just onlookers. The imperfections found in the MC (such as impulsiveness, sometimes self-centeredness) reflects actions found in most everyone. THEN, when the MC displays courage, spunk and growth -- the reader is able to connect then, too.

I'm way older than the target audience, but I was also able to relate - not just read! IF Andrea can grow... so can we!

My daughter hasn't been able to put this book down (or ANY of Andrea's adventures!). We'll be waiting in line for the next one!

Can You Keep a Secret?

Review Date: 2008-02-08
Can you keep a secret? Andi Carter's family has kept one from her for her whole life, and when she finally finds out, she's stunned. Andi's pretty good at keeping secrets, too. She and her friends find a mysterious stranger who asks for a little help until he gets on his feet again. There's just one catch--the stranger asks Andi not to tell her family about him. She agrees, against the better judgment of her friends.

The two secrets turn Andi's life upside down. She's no longer the youngest child at the ranch. Now, there are three younger kids and Andi has her hands full. If you thought the horses Andi loves are wild, wait until you meet these three rascals!

Of course Andi's faithful palomino, Taffy, is back, but when it comes to a fierce thunderstorm, even Taffy has her limits. Andi is left alone with a desperate outlaw and the three kids to discover just how strong her family ties really are.

Writer Susan Marlow shines as she brings Andi through this storm in her life. The timely story line about a broken family and forgiveness is a definite plus, with echoes of the Prodigal Son from the Gospel of Luke. This is a book your kids, grandkids, and even you will love, and that's no secret.

New series for the "tween" in your life

Lately, twelve-year-old Andi Carter seems to have a knack for getting into trouble. She never means to be a problem, but there are just so many interesting things to do on her family's California ranch, like watching the new broncos being broken in, that she often gets distracted from her chores. It doesn't seem fair that her family is always upset with her about this.

Andi decides that her family would be better off without her, so early one morning she saddles up her horse, Taffy, and runs away from home. However, if Andi thought life on the road would be easier than life at home, she quickly learns differently. After a horse thief attacks Andi and steals Taffy, she is found by a kind Mexican immigrant family who takes her under their wing. While they want to take her back home, Andi refuses to go until she gets Taffy back. They reluctantly agree to let her travel with them and try to find Taffy as they look for work. Andi soon realizes just how protected her life has been. Will she ever be able to find Taffy and go back home?

Andrea Carter and the Long Ride Home is the first in a series of "tween" books by Susan K. Marlow. Set in 1880s California, Andi Carter is a feisty, likable tomboy who gets into enough scrapes that she should appeal to both male and female readers. History, such as the treatment of immigrants and the details of daily life on a ranch, is blended into the story in an entertaining way. The moral values are clear, but not preachy.

Armchair Interviews says: A good start to an enjoyable new series.

Andrea Carter is a precocious young girl who often fails to "look before she leaps", and ends up having to dig herself out of the hole she's found herself in. A dyed-in-the-wool tomboy, Andi finds little benefit in the day-to-day trappings of a "proper" young lady's life in the year 1880, has no problem storing a smelly horse blanket in her bedroom, and no use for nor interest in the dresses that hang in her closet. Andi's impetuous behavior has consequences, though, whether having to clean the entire barn for failing to complete her chores, or more serious consequences when she attempts to run away from home when her pride is injured.

"The Long Ride Home" is a great read, for 'tweens and adults alike; we can all use a reminder that our choices have far-reaching consequences and effects on the lives of others.

Highly recommended!

I purchased this book about a year ago, and I have found it to be every bit as helpful as the other posters on this site have already attested.

The book is well illustrated, printed on thick paper, and both ingenious and unique in it's presentation of the patterns and the techniques needed in tying.

I work overseas most of the time, so I do almost all of my shopping via Amazon... I don't write too many reviews, but a year later here I am singing the praises of this great book.

It is worth every penny, and would happily pay double if I had to replace the copy I currently own.

Best Idea ever

This is the best how to book format I have ever seen. It is so great. It just makes sense to have spilt pages with the recipe on the top half of the page and instructions for the different techniques on the bottom half. It has helped me to understand fly tieing so much. Great book.

I have several fly tying books, of which, none can approach this book in explaining how to tye flies. The way this book is laid out is a clear advantage. I feel that most anyone will benefit who is interested in tying. A person can purchase a less expensive book on tying, but remember the old saying, "buy the best and cry once."

If you are thinking of getting started in fly tying, this IS the book to purchase. It will be your last and only book that you will need to purchase on this subject. It is extremely easy to navigate and takes the mystery out of fly tying techniques. Even seasoned veterans might find an easier technique to use. I would recommend it to family and friends!
