Pharmacy Books

This is one of the better books available to give you a good general feel for all the different aspects of the pharmacy technician's job responsibilities. There are a lot of color pictures and examples which are lacking in many other books. The book gives a general description of the different positions a pharmacy technician may hold such as duties in a hospital setting or in a retail setting, special duties such as preparing chemotherapy drugs, IV drugs and compounding, and also includes chapters on the different body systems and drugs that treat diseases in each system. A CD comes with the book that has animations of the body systems and problems to work on to help prepare for the certification exam. The appendix includes a list of 200 of the more popular drugs and a math review. There is also a practice exam at the end. This is a good all inclusive book if you only want to buy one book that covers a little of everything instead of buying all the books in a series. I work as a technician in a pharmacy and I would recommend this book.

Pharmaceutical drugs and their long-term side effects are the direct or remote cause of many of our "most popular" modern diseases. A symptom tells us there is a body imbalance; pharmaceutical drugs usually attack the symtom and suppress the body's natural healing ability. Walker and Brown advocate a different approach: removing the blocks to healing and promoting the vital force within our bodies that keeps our immune system and organs functioning normally. (The simplest "natural cure" they cite is universally available, inexpensive, and so common we overlook it-- pure water.) There is an introductory discussion of homeopathics, but this is NOT a handbook on homeopathics, and you don't have to be "into" homeopathics at all to find this book helpful. The authors cite many ailments or diseases A-Z. The explanation of each ailment is followed by various headings such as: Drug Treatment (the standard prescription), Conventional Treatment, Natural Alternatives, Nutritional Supplementation, Homeopathetic Remedies, Dietary Modification, Things to Avoid, Helpful Tips. What I found especially helpful was the unconventional causes (which often seemed intuitively correct to me) listed under various ailments or diseases. It made it possible to correlate separate problems as stemming from core deficiencies or assaults on my body's immune system. With this new understanding, implementing the natural alternatives suggested by the authors made sense. The format makes it easy to "check out" various diseases or symptoms and quickly locate healthful alternatives to drug therapy.

This is an excellent resource for everyone. These are simple remedies that actually work. This book is an excellent alternative resource for many common problems. Most Americans are reluctant to try alternative remedies, but the rest of the world has used them with sucess for ages.

This easy convient handbook is every nursing students dream come true. It is compact, easy to manage in an emergency situation and also gives the important imformtion needed to make drug administration quick and easy. A must for a student or even a new grad in the nursing profession.

IT IS VERY HELPFULL, AND AN EXCELLENT REVIEW BOOK, I RECOMMED IT FOR EVERYBODY.

This book is excellent as an overview of regional anatomy for the first time you are learning something. It is so systematic, and gives you a sense of what is important, what is detail, and what the big picture is. It is also great as a review book just before exams. One downside, though, is that it is sprinkled with major errors which can all be attributed to typos. The good far outweighs the bad in this book, but don't use it as the final word.

This book is a handy primer on dialysis written in simple language and useful for the novice as well as containing nuggets of information useful for the practising renal physician. The book is quite comprehensive as it covers almost all the aspects of dialysis and has good charts for summary of various aspects of dialysis. In short it is a valuable book, an essential aid in the dialysis room and well worth the money spent.

This book is essential to all pediatricians, now you can have all correct dosages in a few seconds.

A great introduction to how and what to measure (and not measure) in clinical development. The concepts and examples Zuckerman describes are simple and effective. The fictional companies he uses as a basis for his examples are so well designed, most anyone will easily find information that applies to their own situation.
