Dr.Birkett with a firm down under cricketing knowhow has put bat to ball and delivered a text which illuminates the dark recesses of essential pharmacokinetics fundamentals...jolly good show.

This book collates many of the known methods for evaluating the pharmacological activity of plant extracts. It highlights useful invitro assays such as anti inflammatory, cardiovascular and respiratory areas aswell as natural products that affect the nervous system, endocrine system and the gastro intestinal tract. All these in vitro and in vivo models are conveniently placed in one book. My only reservation is that the book relies heavily on animal experimental models for validation and I would have preferred a book that included more information on alternatives to animal experiments and also more studies relating to human pharmacology.

This has got to be the best Pharm. book I have ever read. I don't like to read that much and don't like all the big terminology that most books print. This book brings everything down to the basic level of understanding! I know that it's publishing date is old (1994), but I still think new Paramedic students will get great knowledge from this book.

This was a purchase for my NP program pharm class. However, it is turning out to be one of the most current and helpful books I have purchased. It goes into detail about trending medications and breaks down the underlying problems and drug mechanisms clearly.
Might seem expensive but it is compatible to three prior books I have purchased all wrapped up into one!

I learned so much from this book. It is very easy to read and organized very well. This should be required reading for every "Pharmacy 101" course in ALL medical professions!!!

An absolute must for health care students. Contains information on the drugs pharmacology, adverse effects, contraindications, and chemical structure. What makes these drug flash cards superior to other pharmacology flash cards is that they contain the pictures of the pharmaceutical drug agents as well as useful patient counseling information. The dimensions of the cards are very similar to that of a prescription. Easy to carry in the pocket of your lab coat when you're on rotation. Very comprehensive. Excellent reference guide. Affordable!

One would not expect a scholarly and well-annotated history book that covers an arcane subject to rise to the level of literature, but this book does. It is brimful of interest and good writing, and is an absolutely terrific read.

Dr. Worthen did his research well; he deftly distilled the historical essence of military pharmacy leading up the war years, and tightly encapsulated the practice of pharmacy during and immediately after WW2.

I cannot recall reading any book on the history of pharmacy that was as impressive as this one is.

Well-written, informative, thorough, complete. Everything that you'd want and expect in such a reference!
