I picked up this book with great hope, but it has fallen short to my expectation. The author has presented the idea of PK modelling in a very lucid way and for that the effort of the author is commendable. But this book is really very basic, most of the times it just introduces with the basic concept but very unwillful to go beyond of that. Sometimes it reiterates the same thing again and again, as a result number of pages has been increased withoug much increment of information in the book. This book mostly discusses with the IV method of drug administration. It provides the idea of two compartment pk model for Oral administration of drug only in a single para and does not provide any mathematical calculation. In nutshell, the book is very basic and does not help anybody who wants to be self-sufficient in PK data analysis.

Strong on examples, weak on methods

This book gives many examples of where Risk-Benefit analysis was utilized in the assessment of commonplace therapies up to and including more modern lipid complexes, etc. In this regard, the book is quite useful although abstracting from these specific examples into some generalizable approach is difficult at best. In addition, the section specifically devoted to methods is limited and does not provide a comprehensive overview which would have been greatly appreciated. Not recommended unless the therapies included in this work are relevant to your area of practice/research.

Concise Review for the PTCB Exam
This book focused too much on studying the drugs, and not enough time focusing on the actual PTCB exam. It does promise it is a "Concise Review" for the exam, and that's the reason I bought it. A promise the book did not deliver on.
Although I passed the PTCB exam on the first try, I found that most of the material in this book was not relevant to the current PTCB exam. Written by a load of Pharm.D's, I think this book would be better suited if you were studying for the PCAT exam (which prepares you to go to Pharmacy School), not the PTCB exam. Sorry, many pages were a total waste of time, and made one believe "they were not ready" for the PTCB.
The Pharmacy Law review did a decent job covering the essential laws to memorize, however, most of the book focused on the drugs, and in my opinion, it is a big mistake to focus on the drugs when preparing for the PTCB exam, which I took in December, 2007 and passed on the first try.
I liked the practice tests at the back of the book, and suggest a total revision of this book if this goes into a second edition.
Why not make it a book of sample practice tests and put the tests on a CD-ROM, which would give students practice taking exams on computers instead of filling in the bubbles!
Memorizing the generic and trade names, as well as drug categories, will waste your valuable time in preparing for the PTCB. I found that the test focused more on hospital practice and pharm math.

This is not a pharmacology text; basic pharmacology is very briefly covered, and the reader that seeks a thorough review of pharmacodynamics should seek it elsewhere. It is more like a collection of info sheets coming with each drug. Little attention is drawn to comparative clinical drug trials. However, the list of drugs covered is quite long. I wish it had a chapter on psychiatric drugs.

DRUG USE AND DRUG ABUSE the book is about people that have a drug problem and seek help and try to break their problem before it becomes irreversible. The things I liked about the book were the way they explained how they made them and what you can use. The things I did not like was what the did to get drugs and how the used them also what they did to people when the had them. It affected me personally because the things they would do to each other were horrible they would steel and hurt to get them. I would recommend this book but not to the young more to the older people authors name Geraldine Woods

This author writes on this subject in an informative and unbiased way. I am a nursing student and this kind of knowledge is essential. Especially since I will probably end up working in an Emergency Department or as a Psych Nurse. I could only give it 3+ stars. I couldnt give it 4 or 5 stars as I did find some technical errors. Also some of the information presented does not clarify somethings, which could lead someone to a misconception. But all in all this is a book I would recommend to students of health professions.

I thought that this book was an excellent synopsis of drug delivery. It included several versitile approaches and some detailed explanations of various procedures. I only wished the there was a longer and more detailed introductory chapter that explained the problems one faces when trying to establish a viable methodolgy. I also think it would have been beneficial to see more extensive calculations.

It is published almost a decade ago, but there aren't many good books on the subject. If you want to have a first impression on endothelium, it is a good place to start. But for the latest developments on the field, you have to search somewhere else

Nicely covers the broad areas of forecasting, and thats just what it does. It does not get in to the details. So if you are someone who wants to brush your knowledge then this is for you, but if you are looking to learn new methods then maybe you may want to look at some other options.
