A gem of a book based on good science that is a must read for practitioners eager to learn more about the inextricable link
between nutrition and disease/healing. The authors give readers practical tools to help consumers restore their health without
the ravages of toxic drugs and surgery.

I am a specialist in nutritional medicine and council patients on a daily basis. This book is the most useful volume I have
come across in the field in a long time. Its full of great data about the nutritional appoach to both common and uncommon
diseases and offers the lay person or clinician a way to handle them with safe effective non drug therapies. I congratulate
the editor and authors on their excellent work and recommend it highly.

As a nutritionist, I found this book to be at a high level of detail, excellent as a biochemistry refresher, and strongly
evidence-based. It therefore gives a nutritionist the highest-quality and -level information, while providing the evidentiary
backup to give us the confidence to convert the information into action plans for our clients. So while the primary target
is physicians, I recommend it highly as well for nutritionists who are serious about improving clients' health.
This textbook will be on my shelf - the one arm's reach from my desk - as I know I will use it time and again to provide my clients the best approaches science has to offer.

This book has broad use for health care professionals; its lack of agenda and its goal to help maximize nutrition's potential
in disease management is striking.
Some background on the book which I found interesting can be heard in this interview with Dr Kohlstadt at the following link:

This book is excellent, and loaded with clinically useful material. The many references give it credibility. The summary of
key points at the end of each chapter is a great idea. I have not come across a nutritionally oriented book as good as this
one. Congratulations to the authors and editor on a successful effort.

Healthy cooking is not easy. This book really helped in choosing the right combination in different seasons, for different
people. There are 240 recipes and each of them includes breakfast, lunch dinner and snack. Helpful notes were listed at
the side column of each page like Nutrition Notes, Kitchen Hints, Nutreient Bonus and Healthy tip of the day. In particular,
the menus were separated into 3 parts for different calories required: 1500calories, 2000calories and 2500calories. Fat
per gram were calculated as well. Seasonal foods and vegetables were used in ingredients and recipes were easy to make
and follow... I do recommend this book in daily food planning.

As a student I found this book to be helpful in understanding the rationale behind the DRI's. All of the information is given
for specific age groups, which makes quick references easy. Review of scientific literature is good, and the authors included
certain limitations of the data.
