Jessica Nagler takes the reader on her spiritual journey from Los Angeles, California to the dense rain forests of Costa Rica, onto the hustle and bustle of Guatemala City then deep into the remote Mayan ruins at K'umarcaaj in Guatemala before she somehow finds a path back to Los Angeles. An open-mind is all that's needed as you walk through the pages with Jessica -- her writing style welcomes readers to walk in her shoes as she finds her personal truth. This is a story that contains vivid imagery of travel, adventure, spirituality and determination of the human spirit. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to walk away from your life and set off on an unmapped journey then this book conveys the ups and downs, accomplishments and setbacks of one woman's walk. I LOVED this book. I read it in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down. Jessica Nagler is great at story telling. Her writing style is excellent. The book is sprinkled with words of wisdom. If you like The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho you will LOVE this book. I am positive that this book is headed for the Best Seller's List. This book IS required reading for anyone who has a spiritual interest. IT IS SO ENLIGHTENING AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

From the very first sentence, Nagler leads the reader on a journey that is refreshing and engaging. If read with care, the reader will gain insights that will facilitate his or her own quest. What is crucial here is that the true journey is an inner one. It is not necessary to travel to the jungle to reach past layers of indoctrination and conditioning, but Nagler's story helps.

With all the interest in the Mayan Calendar and the coming changes, Jun Q'anil author Jessica Negler introduces us to a real Mayan Shaman. This is an amazing story and Jessica Nagler's honesty and vulnerability as she shares her sometimes perilous journey is a tribute to the human spirit. We are indeed the ones we have been waiting for, and this story brings this home in a personal - yet universal - manner.

From the moment I started the first chapter, I felt a sort of peacefulness that I never before experienced from reading a book. Jessica Nagler's courageous journey towards self-awakening is both inspiring and thought provoking. She does what many of us only dream of doing; leaving our familiar life behind in order to find our spiritual path. Her clear and creative writing style enables you to feel the awe, excitement, fears, and revelations she experienced while on her enchanting path towards self-growth. I would (and have) recommend this book to anyone who has expressed any interest in spiritual development.

The Secret Book: Law of Attraction Tools and Techniques

Review Date: 2008-09-07
The book title was very attractive to me, where I read many books on Law of Attraction. Some detail the concept and make it very theoretical, some will just make you read and read and you lose your focus but this book is totally different. This book is very simple and focused on the same time. Many tools and techniques have been described and made available for the immediate applications.

The author defined affirmation, its magic in enhancing the attraction process of any goal or desire. Also, similar treatment of other tools and techniques like visualization, feelings and meditation to speed up and amplify getting the goals and desires were offered.

I used it for my work and for my own life and I found miraculous results.
This is the book that I was looking for and it has just arrived.

This book is a masterpiece! I couldn't stop reading it. Many limiting believes, many wrong images, many uncomfortable moments held me back on the past. I learned from this book multiple techniques on how to go beyond the boundary and have more choices, select the right images and enjoy every single moment of my life.

It talks about Law of Attraction straight to the point without any unnecessary stuff that consumes time and distracts the focus.

My experience with this book simply can be summarized as if I have been given the correct combination to unlock a world of infinite possibilities or to live an extraordinary life.

Again the author has created a quick and easy to read handbook. He provides common sense options for changing the way we think about our outlook on life in general. Each chapter contains a consolidation of practical information and ideas that helped me with a difficult time my son is having in his life and ways I may be able to help him get out of his rut. I like this book, it is easy to read and really helps me think before acting on a situation. I have sent my son a copy of the book in hopes that it will help him find peace.

I have always been a little cynical when it comes to books that promise to help you become rich, or a better person, or successful in anything you want. Most books in the genre tend to be pretentious, long winded and occasionally make very little sense.

The Law of Attraction Handbook, therefore, came as something of a surprise. A self help book that comes in at under a hundred pages, has short and concise chapters and a small easy to follow collection of exercises for readers to carry out in order to make their dreams come true.

The Law of Attraction Handbook explains the theory and practicality behind the whole concept of mind over matter leading anyone to achieve anything. Al-Maimani opens with a preface based on his own experiences when dealing with the failures of his life and how this changed thanks to some very simple changes to his thought process.

The chapters read easily, very easily for a book dealing with a kind of science. This is not like a text book where the reader has to frequently pause to check the dictionary for meanings, or where hours are lost in research and assignments with very little outcome. This book seems different. It doesn't preach, or expect the world from its readers, all it offers is a step by step guide on how you could change your life for the better.

The book ends with a short series of tasks that should take no more than a couple of a minutes a day over a three week period. The exercises are as simply explained as the theories of the book, and can easily be carried out by anyone.

The most important thing this book asks for is a little belief. If you are willing to give it that, then is definitely a book worth seeking out.

Offers sound steps on achieving desires and goals

Reviewed by Irene Watson for Reader Views (7/08)

An old concept recently revived by creators of "The Secret" encourages people to start believing they can manifest and create whatever they desire in their lives. Al-Maimani's handbook is supplemental to many of the books in the market proponing the same ideas. His concise, easy-to-read handbook skips over long drawn-out explanations and gets right to the point.

One of the primary beliefs within the Law of Attraction is put into words by Al-Maimani "...what you put out into the universe comes back to you - whether wanted or unwanted." Using personal experiences Al-Maimani explains how the Law worked in his life. He also references specific books and teachers that encourage the same belief.

"Law of Attraction Handbook" offers three simple exercises with a basic step one: Declare Your Desires. Personally, I believe a large amount of people find this the most difficult and often can't focus on what their actual desires are. This is because we are expected to know what we want. Al-Maimani encourages us to write what we don't want first. He emphasizes, by writing what we don't want first clears the way for what we do want. Once this list is made, Al-Maimani gives steps two and three in a simple manner. Believing you can manifest the true desires makes steps two and three an easy way for the desires to come to fruition.

Al-Maimani questions the readers, which allows them to look within themselves to find the answers. One of the questions is `So what is going on in your subconscious mind?" He then briefly explains to find out what is going on in our subconscious mind is to check the emotions and feelings that are going on at that time. This is a very hands-on, experiential book.

Furthermore, what makes this book appealing are the Twenty-One Day Exercises in the back of the book. I haven't completed them because of the timely submission of this review; however, I know this system works. I look forward to continuing the exercises.

"Law of Attraction Handbook" by Aiman A. Al-Maimani offers sound steps on achieving desires and goals, as well as guidelines on developing a successful, fulfilled life with steps that actually do work, if you work them and believe.

This book is an excellentt read for any race, or age. It gives you so much insight on so many topics. Whether never experienced before or not, this book gives you a reflective voice on so many things that concerns us. It is not only offered through the eyes of a male, but interspersed with reflections from Michelle Obama, Ciara, and even has a foreword from Grabielle Union. I would recommend everybody to read it and would also advise that you purchase a copy for a loved one also.

Having already read "Letters to a Young Brother", I was very excited to see that Hill Harper decided to expand upon his vision and write a book for young women. The message, the inspiration, and the obvious care and affection Hill expresses for today's youth needs to reach as many youth as possible. His books should be found in every school library around the country and beyond. Teenagers and pre-teens face more changes in their lives than ever before and Hill teaches them how to rise above the challenges and inspires them to reach their potential. I, for one, am very grateful for his vision.

Simply put, this book is a "must read" for anyone who meditates with the hope of achieving enlightenment. It contains wisdom about your spiritual energy that you will not find anywhere else (except in Sex Matters, also by OSHO). If you have ever felt an insatiable craving inside, a void that cannot be filled, a deep yearning for love, then this book will help you make sense of that feeling and find the way "to the other shore," to joy and fulfillment. Read it, cherish it.

As a former resident of Ft Collins, Colorado now living in California, this book really brought me home. The author paints a vivid picture, not only of the beautiful scenery surrounding him, but also the internal landscape created by being in such a magical place. Reading this book is almost like a meditation, allowing us to connect with the solitude of nature, and the stillness within us. If you read it in a very quiet place, it can transport you there, where the only sound is the wind in the trees.

This book made we want to go to Medicine Rock. Only a few pages into the book and I found my mind wandering to all the wonderful wild places to which I traveled, especially in my childhood (parents were rock hounds). Kyle's book brought all of this back, and even a month after reading Medicine Rock Reflections I find myself "reflecting" on my time in the wonderful remote places in this land.

BENEATH THE SURFACE SHADES

Review Date: 2008-01-28
If we're lucky we have something like a Medicine Rock in all of our lives. To have it on the scale of Kyle Gardner would be quite a coo.

During his time L.W., Kyle's grandfather, no doubt raised a few eyebrows as he lived the rather unconventional lifestyle of a wanderer, working a variety of jobs, gathering untold wisdom along the way. His life became the beginning of a legacy.

That legacy was carried on when Kyle's parents purchased Medicine Rock, a wild and rambling 80 acres northwest of Ft Collins, Colorado. While raising their family they couldn't quite pull off the reknown wanderings of L.W., so they chose a place where they and their children could move about with the freedom of L.W. but on a somewhat smaller and safer scale.

But, oh, the opportunities to commune with all that came to be their world at Medicine Rock. Kyle's reflections on their visits will have half of you grabbing your pack and heading for the trail while the other half sit spellbound by his descriptions that leave the air intense with scent and nearby colors heightened.

A heart that comes into contact with nature becomes a heart that sees more then just the surface shades we glimpse as we speed by in today's suburban world. Offered the chance to view things from the ground up and the treetops down, Kyle's heart seems to have expanded with each visit. Sharing all of this with his family in their truly off-the-grid cabin made him yearn for more then just the occasional ramble around the yard.

Insightful, well written, and thought provoking.

Kyle Gardner's foray into "nature writing" is exceptional. If you have a love for the outdoors, you will find something to relate to in "Medicine Rock Reflections". Kyle puts a new spin on some of those ageless questions, and the "journey" to Medicine Rock is inspiring.

In "Midlife Mamas on the Moon," Sunny Hersh presents pertinent topics for women over 40. The sooner you read this book the better your life will be. Since I just turned 40 I found this book to be a helpful guide to a life I will soon be living. Instead of being shocked or annoyed by symptoms of aging, I can be prepared and aware of subtle changes.

Sunny Hersh shares her personal experiences and gives advice on a wealth of topics including relationship issues, sexuality, dating, financial security, hormone replacement, exercise and diet. She also gives helpful tips on looking after your partner's health.

Most of the book reads like a conversation with a close friend and I found myself writing down the names of numerous books and supplements. This book will bring you up to date on the most important lifestyle changes so you can ensure a smooth transition from 40 to 50 and beyond.

I will state first that my spiritual beliefs are liberal, so I am not giving this book a poor review because it goes against any "dogma" I may have. I agreed with everyone's review who mentioned how great a bass player Victor is.
So why one star? Because this is rehashed, 101, 1960 new age type philosophy (I hate to use the term as this is so elemental a book on music and spiritually). What we need is a complex discussion of the two, and there are examples do a google or Amazon search, of books, thesis and Research studies in the fields of Anthropology, Ethnomusicology, and even in books which discuss practicing an instrument.
I brought this book without really looking at it, since I assumethat Victor's writing would be as interesting and informative as his playing. Wrong.

My recommendation: Read someone else on this topic.

I bought it for my husband, a bassist, but after seeing Victor (the author) in concert and seeing hearing him playing so incredibly easy and relaxed but yet at the same time 'killing' everyone with what he was able to do, I thought that reading this book would give me some insight on how he got to where he was musically.
And I think it definitely does. it's a beautiful music lesson that he has decided to share and it helps us all perceive and recieve music from a complete other dimension.
It's written in an easy style, but the message is deep and not to be forgotten if you are a musician yourself.
I was reading only a chapter a day to digest and store the information well, because I have never read anything anywhere like this book!

Nicely done but familiar...

Victor Wooten writes well. He's a talented and spiritual musician who has the gift of being able to teach others through his music and words. The Music Lesson is not just about how to play the bass guitar or any other instrument, it is about the allowing of music that already exists and the attitude of spirit when creating that music. A wonderful analogy in the book likens the instrument as simply a medium for allowing the music that is already within you in the same way that a pen or computer allows words from within to be created and written onto paper. The pen is not the holder of the words, the writer is. The guitar is not the holder of the music, the player is...

I give four and half stars to this book because as I read I felt as though I had come across some aspects of the writing elsewhere in the past. When I read the acknowledgements page I saw that indeed, Mr Wooten had been inspired by Neal Donald Walsch's brilliant book, Conversations with God which I read many years ago. For someone who has not read Conversations with God, you will gain much from The Music Lesson.

This is a painfully realistic portrayal of the pain of sexual abuse. She compassionately addresses all of the deep hurts of the women and men assaulted especially in child-hood by their abusers. She is frank, especially about addressing the fact that much time may be involved in the recovery of a sexual abuse victim. Excellent book!

I cant say that i have read every book out the on sexual abuse but have been through several. This book definitely will transform your life cos it did mine. I am really lost for the right words to use to describe this book. But in my healing journey i have been searching for a book that will help me through my short-comings or 'issues' as some might say, but most books i found were just a bunch of stories without much depth. just stuff to make you feel better about yourself or tell you it's not your fault or just some butter and cream recipe to give you an appearance of hapiness. Dr. Langberg books is quite different. Thank you for sharing your insight.

I'm a survivor of 18 years of childhood sexual abuse. I've read several books about abuse trying to understand and make sense of it and to help find a way to live a normal life despite the past.

"On The Threshold of Hope" was the first book I've read that made me feel like there was hope of healing from the painful aftereffects of childhood abuse. I started feeling that maybe God didn't desert me during those years but that He cried with me and He hated what was happening to me just as much or more than I did.

I felt like the author had reached inside my soul and written all the words that I couldn't articulate. Even down to the experiences of others that were so close to mine. I've experienced flashbacks and nightmares for the past two years. Before that, I thought I had pretty much gotten over the past and life was going relatively well. Then at 48 years old, the flashbacks and nightmares started out of know where. The intensity and realness of these flashbacks and nightmares was terrifying.

This book explains all that I've experienced. It outlines and guides you down a path to help you get through the pain and start real healing. As the book states, healing is a process and can take time. I'm in the process of that healing now with a good therapist that understands the issues of childhood sexual abuse and supportive friends who are standing by me to grab my hand when I can't hold on.

Thank you for sharing this amazing book...it has truly helped give me hope for a life that can be full of wonderful memories and experiences.

I've purchased copies to put in our church library and shipped copies off to friends that have family that have gone through similar situations.
