Tony has a gift he gives freely to all. He has the ability to speak directly TO THE READER. It is as if you're sitting across from him and having a conversation. 'It is estimated that about 95 percent of people can be compared to ships without rudders.'--Earl Nightingale. Tony's book is the rudder for my ship. Tony, thanks for sharing!

Many books describe great ideas but few give an actual process to follow. Tony's book describes processes that are based on his education and experiences. Interwoven in these experiences are descriptions of family stories and strong values. He has inspired me.

The title alone should give you a hint that this is no ordinary 'self-help' book. It's filled with humor, compassion, and sincerity, which is fitting from an author like Tony Magee. Reading it is like chatting with an old friend. I laughed out loud at the stories he used to illustrate his points. I can relate to many of his experiences and therefore, I'll remember the lesson I learned from each. This book belongs in the library of anyone who wants to give their life a boost...no matter where you are in the journey to achieving your dream.

Thanks Tony!

This book reads easily and like others, I love the clever Chapter headings, sub-titles and Route 66 markers, full of quotes and lines from songs...you may even find yourself singing. The book clearly describes the reasons we are ready for change as well as the reasons we get stuck and have trouble moving forward. A great book both for those retiring as well as those ready to do something different for other reasons! Makes a great gift for a friend~

Changing Lanes is perfect timing especially for the baby boom generation. I have so many friends, colleagues, and family members contemplating a big life change, especially toward service to others or creativity and the arts. This book is just the thing to help readers think through how they want to spend the rest of their lives, and then actually go out and do it!

The organization and practical information of this book make it useful as a reference, but the use of song titles throughout make it fun as well! The "real" people and their stories add a depth to the book that sets it apart from so many other career evaluation books. I've already given several to friends considering mid-life changes.

As a social worker on a dialysis unit I have found this book extremely helpful in my own education of what new dialysis patients face, but also what patients deal with as a long time dialysis patient. The author leaves no stone unturned and not sugar coating a thing- she's going to tell you how to deal with failure and success each with a bit of unique humor and empathy. She has suggestions how to handle you illness in professional situations as well as how to not get bored if re-hospitalized. Bottom line she is an inspiration and a beneficial read to all!

As a student working to finish a university degree while dealing with a chronic illness (indeterminate IBD with myalgia and fatigue) Ms Hartwell's experiences of living a successful and joy-filled life despite her illness has been an inspiration and source of hope for me. Her humor despite trials is motivating, her wisdom is an amazing resource.
I especially enjoyed her chapter on overcoming the "Damaged Goods Syndrome". A tendency for those with Chronic Illness is to have negative thoughts and self-esteem challenges when we compare ourselves to other more healthy people. I often find myself viewing myself as "not good enough" and am frustrated by how disabling my illness can be in acheiving my goals.
While the mind can work destructively, it can also be employed to build joy, humor, and a positive attitude that helps achieve goals. Learning to identify and work through cognitive distortions gives you a new lens in which to see your life.
Hartwell quote in her book Helen Keller as saying "We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world."

Cheerful, but nothing new.

This is a good read and fairly quick too. Make no mistake that it is a sales tool for the web site and the healing process available there. If you are looking for an instructional book this is not a book to buy. If you are open to some interesting research and insights into an interesting healing modality you will like what's here.
I rated it four stars because of the research references and Bibliography otherwise I would have given it a three.

I love this book. There's such a rich mixture of literary, scientific and metaphysical insights and ideas. I love the whole description of the process of healing involving conscious co-creation. I keep coming back to the illustrations that speak so clearly to how we fundamentally both influence and are influenced by our electromagnetic environment. As one who has walked my own journey of healing and awakening it makes SO much sense to address healing at the blueprint level. Thanks Sol for the gift of the work and this book!

If you are familiar with the chakras, idea of experiencing your beliefs, and enlightenment, but are looking for a new kind of healing, this book wraps these ideas together in it's explanation of DNA. It presents scientific information in a readable and interesting way. It does not, however, offer techniques you can try on your own. The therapy described in the book must be performed by the author either in person or through his website.

In The Constant Creator In You, poet and writer Ralph Carpio takes a unique approach to instruct the reader in how to become powerful, radiant, loving, and creative in their daily life. Carpio talks about Life Power (an ability to examine possible consequences and receiving all of what we wish to receive); The Giant Soda Machine (life is participatory and works in an organized way); Living Statements (the importance of life's communication with us); Unnecessary Boxes (it is a natural state to live in a steady stream of desires requiring decisions and choices); Reality Check (the role of reality checks in the empowerment process of taking charge of our lives); and The Constant Creator In You (a strong, creative force within us creates helps us deal with and shape our material conditions and circumstances). The Constant Creator In You is an enthusiastically recommended, "reader friendly" addition to any personal self-help, self-improvement reading list and reference collection.

The Constant Creator in You is a refreshingly powerful book that breaks the mold of self-help books on the market today. His straightforward, almost humorous way of presenting age-old material in an easy-to-digest format, makes reading and utilizing the principles in this book a delight, while also serving to help change the reader's life. I firmly believe that this important book will be of major assistance to all, no matter how far or how long one has been on the path to self improvement or self actualization. Thumbs up for Carpio's The Constant Creator in You!

Constant Creator is a modern new age message-quick, clean, so simple it's unsophisticated enough to be the truth. Carpio writes with sheer honesty. Sheer in the sense that he did it and he knows we can do it. Honest because it's in the grand tradition of American writing that says it's free as the air, available as freedom, and as simple as Allowing.

This book is a perfect messiah's handbook (ala Richard Bach's Illusions). Succinctly written by an 'itinerate woodcutter' each page contains a gem of wisdom. Review Date: 2007-09-28
I dicovered this wonderful book (or maybe it discovered me...) when I was 16 in a B. Dalton's bookstore during a lunch break in High School. Immediately I felt this book was like my mentor during the remainder of my teen years. It's the kind of book that you can open up to any page and find wisdom, beauty, strentgh and love. The style of writing reminds me of the Dhammapada with a dash of Heraclitus' philosopical prose.

Some of my favorite passages...

" Get to know the truthful, if you would become accquainted with beauty."

"Let go of everything you're holding onto

now let go of everything else."

"security is quicksand

can it really be ANYone's ambition in life
to become one-half the couple in the life insurance ads?

security. life insurance.
how much are you worth dead?

more than you're worth alive?
hurry up and die, then

hurry up and be born again."

"Do not be afraid to love."

"Decision-making is a vice. Some addicts reach a stage where they do almost nothing but agonize over decisions.
It's a subtle form of hesitation.
Like all addictions, the only cure is cold turkey.
You could spend the rest of your life trying to decide whether to take the cure."

"take everything that is strong in you
and put it to work
set it free
never mind what anyone thinks
take all your muscles
and stretch them to their limits
you'll amaze yourself, how good you'll feel
and how much good you'll do
just by radiating pure energy outward
-contact high the ultimate form of communication-
you are beautiful
be
be
be!"

This book predates most of the post-modern self help books we see on the shelves in bookstores or advertised in the media. Most of the authors of post-modern self help are focusing too much energy on manipulation to achieve a re-defined version of love and abundance. I personally feel it's an imitation of the "real thing", but then again I wax nostalgic over the simple hippie philosophies that came out of the 60's as notably this book attests to that. Even though I wasn't born until 1969! But a lot of things that came out from the 60's are truly classic. This being one them.

Timeless enlightenment with a hippie feel!

"This is God speaking", says Williams at one point. Well yes, reading this book does rather feel like that much of the time. "Das Energi" is a mighty powerful and inspirational read. A dynamic (VERY dynamic) mix of Zen ideas, taoism, positive thinking and maybe a bit of Christian morality thrown in for good measure. However, some of the language does place the book firmly in the late sixties and early seventies (man!). Its still brilliant.

Paul Williams presents us with quick, sharp "blows to the head" such as "Beware means be aware.", "Vote with your life. Vote yes.", "Stop showing off. It isn't what you do. Its what you are that matters.", "Babies see things as they really are" and so on. The uneven format of the book (could be a sentence on one page, a short paragraph on the next, then a short essay on the next) helps you to think more consciously in itself.

Having read the book several times over, I finally realized what was missing for me. A sense of humour! An inspirational classic such as "Illusions" by Richard Bach for example, has the same enlightening quality but gives you a good chuckle too. Still, this is an extraordinary book and I thank Paul Williams for it wholeheartedly. Read this and WAKE UP! ;o)

Like a field guide to a mushroom gatherer, this book teaches how to recognize the poisonous types. In that sense, this is a money, time and life-saving guide. Just as you would not sample The Angel of Death mushroom, you would not try out one of these guys in hopes that he is not really true to type. Nor would you take one home, hoping that with enough love and care and hope, the poison will dissolve and the mushroom will be wholesome and edible. As she explains:

"This guide does not address what you can do to make yourself more attractive to men, how to improve your own character, or guy-meeting strategies. Its purpose is to help you sort through and reject the bad apples up front. Too many bad relationships are the result of women being so grateful that some guy even looks at them, that they jump at the chance to become intimate because they fear it will be their last chance in life. They are petrified that they will be old maids, alone on New Year's Eve. They marry some unloving guy who is full of himself, and they still feel alone on New Year's Eve."

This book is intended for women who are looking for a relationship, but it may also be helpful to those who are in relationships that are not working and are wondering should they stay or leave and can the relationship be salvaged.

The Dirty Seven is exquisitely written - it will both entertain you and open your eyes into different categories of qualities that some men bring into a relationship and which will only bring you pain and heartache in time.

The author points out that there are wonderful, loving and well-adjusted men out there and there are also those who are obviously a bad relationship material. This book doesn't deal with either of those, but rather it deals with traits that may not be so obvious, unless you're informed and know what to look for, traits that may confuse you and make you wonder is something wrong with you or is it him?

You will also get insight into what can be salvaged and whether it's worth your while sticking around, or should you better leave before you get deeply entangled - in other words: what to find out before you find yourself in a deeply messy situation that may be harder and more complicated to get out of as time goes by.

At the end of the book, there is a short overview of The Dirty Seven Sisters: Men Beware. The author has also written a separate book that deals with undesirable traits women bring into a relationship and in my opinion, people of both sexes who desire to enjoy long-term relationships may want to read both books. After all, it takes two well-adjusted individuals to create a happy, loving and harmonious long-term relationship and having insight into one's own shortcomings and doing something about them is as useful as being aware of what to look for in a relationship partner.

Sharply and smartly written, The Dirty Seven: Ladies Beware! is a candid description of seven male personality types that single women searching for a serious relationship should avoid like the plague. The Dirty Seven does not focus upon criminal types, but rather men who are simply poor relationship and prospective husband material, from the Young and Poor to the Excessive Baggage man. The Dirty Seven is highly entertaining to read, but contains a very sober message and is a "must-read" for any single woman in search of a mate.

This gem of a book by June Marshall has its thumb on the pulse of why so many women spin their wheels in dead end relationships. Marshall desribes in colorful detail the characteristics of "Mr. wrong", how to avoid the endless pain and suffering that a relationship with him will bring. The Dirty Seven sheds light on the subtle and insidious elements of a bad catch that most of us easliy look over in attempts to have a man in our life. The refreshing part is that Marshall does not male bash or leave the reader feeling that a fulfilling relationship with a man is impossible. On the contrary- I left feeling empowered and ready to seek out the qualities in a partner that count such as the ability to give and good character. But aside from the invaluable information presented in The Dirty Seven, it is hilariously written. I found myself laughing out loud throughout the book!

When I lost my father at the age of 25 and was left to handle *everything* (funeral, flowers, arrangements, property, and so forth) amid grad school and two jobs, I received too many pieces of advice and useless, but well-intentioned, texts. This book does wonders for the spirit, as it's a refreshing, true-to-life book to honestly get us through the loss of loved ones. No matter what anyone says, he/she doesn't know what you're going through; this book assists one with the unique experience of loss. I've given this book five times over as gifts to my siblings and friends who really needed these words and healthy, sensible suggestions. Kudos to the author! I still pick it up years later when I cycle back to struggling with my father's death.

Jill Brooke writes where others fear to tread. Her simple logic and easy-to read style gave me a feeling of peace while reading about this painful subject. Brooke writes of death as a muse and motivator and builds her theme slowly and in such a spirit of sharing that I felt I was being guided by a friend. One of the most important lessons learned, was how thinking, talking and remembering your loved ones with others keeps them alive through memories. The book is full of practical information and advice from grief professionals entwined around interviews from well-known personalities such as President Clinton who've experienced loss. A great gift, not just for the bereaved, but for new mothers looking for ideas on how to keep the memory of their parents alive with the next generation who never knew them. After reading this book, I felt I had the tools to help continue my loved ones legacy. This well researched book presents a very real way of thinking about death that removes some of the stigma and fear and leaves in its place compassion and hope for the future. Highly recommended.

One of the very best books on the subject

I began reading books and articles on death and grief more than 40 years ago, and after a while, I found they all said the same thing, more or less. Then I read Don't Let Death Ruin Your Life. I was delighted to find a book that reflected what my experience working with grieving people has shown -- that while painful, our relationship with loved ones continues and grief provides the opportunity to learn about life and living with greater purpose. Jill Brooke provides a new framework for the stages/phases of grief and offers everyone hope. I recommend it highly, both to those who are grieving and to those who are working with grieving individuals. And as I think about it, I recommend it to anyone who is interested in living a better life.

The book I wish I'd written

...It was with great interest and relief that I read the book, Don't Let Death Ruin Your Life, by Jill Brooke. It's filled with insights, wisdom, and compassion. What I like most of all about it is the fact that it gives us permission to miss our loved ones--in a healthy way--for the rest of our lives if we want to. Brooke assures us that it's okay to 'keep our loved ones close by and honor their memory while integrating them into our lives that have now been changed by their physical absence.'

"Some of the ways that she shares how to do this is to notice how our loved ones live on in our beliefs and our feelings, and to tell stories about the positive ways they affected our lives. In doing so, we continue to have a meaningful, significant relationship with them while, at the same time, moving through our grief to a brighter place and reclaiming our happiness.

"This is an amazing book, and one that I'll be buying for others and sharing with people for a long time to come...

The Edge took me from a average school boy rugby union player to a professional player who represented 2 countries( Scotland - the land of my birth and South Africa - the country who taught me to play rugby.) In business and sport it is a roller coaster ride and The Edge motivated me to remain positive and always keep the fire of desire burning inside. Today I use what the book taught me to motivate young rugby players at club, provincial and international level. I have also named my software company The Edge. This is a must if you wish to succeed in life.
