I agree 100% with all the positive reviews of this work. Life IS all about attitude, and this is an instruction book on not only how to "grow forever better," but how to be truly HAPPY with one's life. Although those over 35 or so might relate best to its scenarios, everyone could benefit from "Life Is An Attitude" if they heed its advice. The brief, well organized, aptly titled chapters not only make it easy and pleasant to read, but easy to find meaningful passages to re-read when needed. I use this book like a bible - frequently referring to it to put myself in the right state of mind to handle various situations. It is probably the most useful (and well used) book I have ever owned. Fortunately I put a clear plastic book cover on it the day I got it, so it is still intact!

I had started thinking that I couldn't really gain anything by reading yet another positive attitude, self-help book. I have read so many and have even written my own, but I was wrong. Dottie's colorful descriptions and personal examples ushered in nicely the collection of thoughts and ideas that she discusses in this book. Her literary voice is energetic and passionate. She covers many topics in bite-sized chunks, then moves on to the next. I felt full and satisfied when I closed the cover, but best of all I felt a renewed determination to grow and improve. Thank you, Dottie.

We can't always control what happens to us, but we can control how we react to what happens to us. How things affect us is based on our attitude. This is where the book "Life is an Attitude" comes into play. The bottom line is that you determine what kind of life you have and what kind of life you will have by your attitude. Even when your life seems out of control, you are still in control of yourself and your attitude. Of course that is easy enough to say, but we all have baggage in our lives and sometimes keeping the correct attitude is not easy.

Each of the 46 chapters of "Life is an Attitude" focuses on one specific aspect of a person's overall attitude. At the end of each chapter are exercises and suggestions on how to incorporate that aspect into your life. And if that is not enough, the book contains multiple very appropriate thought provoking quotes. As you work through the book you learn that you are in control of your life and how to keep in control and happy. Although several parts of the book show that it was written for an adult audience (maybe late thirties or older) it is still a recommended read for anyone.

Life is an Attitude, you bet!!

Of all the self-help, inspirational books I've read, this is the best. Ms. Billington is concise, direct and to the point. It is a bedside must. I have given at least 2 dozen to friends with great responses. It is Simple Abundance, condensed. Ms. Billington writes in an easy understandable but thought provoking manner. She tells it like it is, like Phil McGraw on the Oprah Show. Her directness and simplicity are refreshing and I continue to read specific chapters again and again. I hope there will be another book in the future.

SNAPP up this accessible and practical book

I like the SNAPP acronymn, the chapter summaries, and appendix that collects all the tips in one place at the end of the book. An excellent example of a well thought out and planned book.

I came across it when looking for Project management books, primarily thinking in terms of "work" projects. There are plenty of books that address "Why" and "What" to do. I'm sure I would have plently of company when, after reading them, I get left with a feeling like "interesting, but what do I actually do now?". Successful doing requires help with "How", and this is the focus of "Make It Happen". This books strength is about implementation. Biagi and Eyres help you with this by walking you through their SNAPP method (read the book). The beauty of this method is that it is readily applied to all sorts of projects, not just the "work" ones e.g. the garden fence etc.

I can vouch first hand that Tresa Eyres and Ron Biagi people practice excellent customer service.

I liked this book because it allowed me to take my own complex project and break into meaningful pieces. I started reading this as an aide to start a whole new job - I finished the book and keep it close - to start a whole new life! It gave me a few simple concepts to apply to many different aspects of business and life. I grew more confident as I saw other people "get it" as quickly and simply as I did. Simplify, simplify, someone's job or goal and they will look to you as a leader. It started to become invectious no matter where I applied the concept. I pick this book up and no matter where I open it a pearl of wisdom is reinforced. Always gives me a boost when I need it because it reminds me the answer is always so close if you follow some simple steps - you'll never forget. Thanks to the authors - I am off to a fast start and enjoying every minute by laying the right foundation the first time. Novice to experts will cherish these "smart ideas". Great gift for a person you mentor on or off the job.

ACHIEVING SUCCESS IN ONLY FIVE STEPS

This book begins with the simple facts; what went wrong and what could have been done to avoid its happening.

What business professional has not experienced the grace and glory of a flawless project or event? What personal experiences have I started only to have a few flaws somewhere in the middle? It is so frustrating to want to be the "perfect" person, putting on the "perfect" business meeting or event, only to have an overwhelming feeing of knowing "something is missing....something is going wrong." I have learned in my life that it makes a difference to plan an event using a map. This book IS a map and eliminates the guess work to a project from beginning to end.

The authors of this book explain their step-by-step outline to make any business professional, as well as someone handling a private event, know where to start, how to accomplish, and how to accept the recognition for a job well done.

Each time I have a project, whether at work or at home, I utilize the five easy steps to help me start, plan and finish my project. By using this book I know where and how to start, how to stay on track with the project's objectives, and how the project will be completed with praise and recognition. The steps are easy, fun, and logical. A perfect book to have by my desk and at home for quick reference!

It is my opinion that this book should not be limited to the business professional. It should be read by anyone who wants to succeed in life! I call this book my "training manual for success" and keep it near me when I begin any major (or minor) project!

This book took me back 26 years. To the former company that I retired from in 1979. It is written in the present tense, but if I had read it in 1975, it would have told my story of how we prepared a company to show the pentagon this company was able to build a product that is still being used by the US Navy today. I had the privilege of spending 14 days as a Tiger Cruise participant on the aircraft carrier "USS CARL VINSON".It was such a thrill to see four Phalanx missile systems being used on this ship. It was a bigger thrill to see this system being fired at night and knowing I had something to "Make It Happen"

I demarcate (thank goodness that's not a story (-:)) reading Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now" The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment as a significant event in my awareness of consciousness. Reading Moss's "Mandala of Being "The Mandala of Being: Discovering the Power of Awareness I sense as similarly significant. I find myself struggling not to get into a fruitless intellectual (read ego) exercise of trying to contrast and compare Tolle and Moss and instead see it as one more refrain of "one teaching; many teachers," and smile and enter the Now. Tolle speaks of an infinite number of portals to the Now available in each moment if we will but allow them. Moss's "The Mandala of Being" is such a portal for me and I invite you to taste and see for yourself.

This book not only talks about living in Awareness, but also gives an actual tool that we can use in our most ordinary days. A tool that makes sense. Dr. Moss writes in plain English about practice, action and becoming more enlightened.
This book speaks to the Universal Consciousness that lives in each of us.
It allows us to see ourselves as who we think we are, and to shed those stories to become more present in who we truly are.
A very wonderful, personal, and extraordinary book. I wish everyone on the planet would read it! I went back and bought over 10 more copies to give as gifts. I feel it is that important of a book.

Spend just a single day being completely aware of where your thoughts lead you. How often does your mind wander? How much time do you find yourself recalling or analyzing things that happened in your past? How much time do you spend worrying about what might happen in the future? What stories do you make up about yourself in your wanderings? Are you self-sacrificing, underappreciated, and undervalued? Are you hardworking and eagerly climbing the ladder of success? Are you bitter that everyone else seems to catch a break but you get nothing?

Anyone who has ever tried this exercise knows that the majority of our time is spent anywhere but at the present moment. We fixate on the past, we fantasize about the future, we create self serving stories in our minds, and we judge others. Very little of our time is actually fully focused on what we are doing and feeling in this exact moment. So in essense, we rarely focus on the here and now, on the moment.

The Mandala of Being guides the reader to a better understanding of this very human process explaining that these seemingly harmless distractions actually color the way we see ourselves. Basically, all of these stories do two things. They either feed our ego so that we feel that we are somebody special (hiding the underlying feeling that we are not enough as we are) or we opening berate ourselves. The end result in both cases is the same, it reinforces the notion that somehow we have to be, act, or have something specific in order to be valuable human beings.

The simple solution is to have our thoughts stay in the here and now, to see events for what they really are, and to get in touch with our true selves. This may be easy to say but it is extremely hard to do. The Mandala of Being teaches us how to make a start in this attempt and how to counteract some of the major obstacles on this path.

Dr. Moss brings awareness to all of us. In these chaotic times, I respect him greatly for speaking to the "fear factor" that has been created in our culture. He gives structure to consciously choose to become more "awake" in our own life. If we want a better world, we can not live in fear. I challenge readers to become informed.

If you are interested in living more completely in the now then this book is for you. Richard Moss, MD shows us why and how we habitually obstruct our innate potential for what Richard calls radical aliveness as said by Deepak Chopra.

If you want to take a close look at yourself then this book is for you. How simple and direct Dr. Moss is.

Happy Reading

This Is A Book You Will Want To Share With Others

With so many reader reviews already published, I won't repeat the information already available. This slim, 85-page volume including many pages containing only one important sentence, impressed me enough that I bought half a dozen copies to give out to other people I knew would love it. It was brief enough that once a person starts reading they will be unable to put the book down. It's also the kind of book that can be placed on the night table next to the bed for some inspirational reading before falling off to sleep. I seldom buy multiple copies of books to give friends and relatives. The last two such books I recall giving away several copies of was "The Millionaire Next Door" and "The Richest Man in Babylon" and neither of those books was anything like this one. They were simply informative, this tome is inspirational, even with a few minor, but distracting typos included, which I'm certain they will be fixed in the next edition. Word for word, idea for idea, uplift for uplift, and inspiration for inspiration, this is a true bargain. There is something to be said for brevity. We all need to count and be thankful for our many blessings.

This was the best book that I have read this year (and I read a lot of books)I enjoyed the positive outlook on life, and how it takes you to a whole feeling of euphoria after reading it. I was surprised that this book related to some of the things I was going through. Dean gives an individual a chance to take a look into one's own life and appreciate the little things. This book has become a constant pick me up everytime I feel down or feel like I am headed towards a negative fram of thinking. Gualco delivers experiences and life lessons to show how one can learn and grow postively from it. I give this book 5 stars and recommend it to anyone looking to gain positive awarness in life!!

I heard the author talking about his book in a radio interview in Denver (two weeks ago) and bought the book through Amazon. It arrived a couple days ago and I read it today.

First, the book is perfect. The philosophies he espoused in the radio interview were reinforced in his book. Second, there were so many quotes and life-altering thoughts that it can have an impact for nearly any age, occupation, or place in life.

It is an interesting book and helps you with life. For that reason, I highly recommend this book to everyone who likes to read, especially if you only buy one or two books a year. This is the one to buy!

My wife bought this book for me as one of her Valentine's Day gifts. At first, I thought "what is she trying to tell me," but then I read it and it turned out to be the best gift I got. I've read it 3 times since last week and have highlighted nearly something on each page. I'm now buying the book (it's only about $10) for several of my friends at work.

Get the book. You not only will enjoy the read but it offers you practical and wise thoughts on what life is about and how to have more joy in what you do.

Mark seriously walks the talk and from a person in finance, it was great to be able to see someone having been in that line of work, using meditation to help. Highly recommend anyone searching for how to maintain a more balanced mind set in this crazy world to buy the book and go see Mark when he next speaks.

Namaste Mark Thornton!

I had exposure to some hardcopy and audiobooks and then I stumbled upon Mark Thornton's Meditation in a New York Minute...finally, a book/audiobook that really talked to me; I think Mark Thornton's easy, light delivery resonates with a person who hasn't had too much exposure to meditation, just like I haven't.

Mark's practical and supportive approach to learning how to meditate are relevant to my lifestyle, and I'll bet will be relevant to yours as well if you're interested in learning how to find some centering peace and calm in the whirlwind of your average day. An added bonus is that Mark debunks some commonly held misconceptions about meditation. I also have Mark to thank for suggesting involvement in local "meetups" - it's been fantastic. This book I wholeheartedly recommend-

If you are looking for the benefits of learning meditation without the need to find a new spiritual path, this is a great book. The author assumes you will read through the book quickly and writes in a way that allows you to skim quickly while identifying places where you need to slow down and read thoroughly. He has a practical style and a wide variety of techiniques that allow the busy person to engage in meditation without a radical change to his or her daily schedule. Mark Thornton clearly has knowledge of the topic, so those who already know some forms of meditation will recognize his experience. This is a great find for anyone with a high stress job or who is just curious about the topic.

MEDITATION IN A NEW YORK MINUTE, both in book and on CD, is a remarkable guide to meditation, successful thinking and responsible actions. Mark's invitation to meditate is gentle and persuasive. The use of inspiring quotes from spiritual leaders is motivational. The actual techniques that he presents are useful, doable and simple. I find listening to the CD life enhancing. Mark has the ability to invite his listeners into the ancient and deep practices of meditation and make it practical for the busy indiviual. His voice on the CD is kind and healing. The breathing techniques are simple. They can be performed through out your day and yet are profoundly relaxing and balancing. I highly recommend this book to anyone who desires calm, peace, harmony and contentment throughout their day, no matter what the chaos surrounding them may be.

In this hectic, 24/7 world, meditation is one of the last things for which most people have any time. This book shows a number of easy ways that anyone can do "mini-meditations" at any time during the day, and that take only one minute at a time.

Everyone has an area of calm deep inside themselves. Accessing that area will decrease stress, re-energize yourself, and enliven the spirit, without closing your eyes and sitting in a lotus position for hours.

Among the techniques are: breathing energy, ChiGung breath for calm, eating (or walking or commuting) with Awareness, magnify heart energy, magnify wisdom, seeing the good in all people and dealing with anger. Start with just one technique, and practice until it becomes second nature. Don't expect to "get" all of these techniques the first time.

This book also mentions quick things that can also be done by anyone at any time. Change your screensaver or cell phone display to CALM or PRACTICE CALM. Breathe in for four seconds, hold for one second, and breathe out for four seconds. Check the muscles in your forehead, and around your eyes, to see if they are relaxed. Massage them if needed. On the subway, imagine your spine is a tube of pure white light, growing brighter and more intense.

This is intended for busy people who don't want to read a lot of spiritual theory; they want to get right to How To Do It. The author is a former executive at JPMorgan, so he understands workplace stress. He has done a fine job with this book. It's simple, effective, and best of all, it's fast.

Do you fantasize about being Indiana Jones, Steve Irwin, or Richard F. or Isabel Burton? Would you love to live a life of romance, creativity and risk, meeting exotic people, exploring new and as yet uncharted lands, stepping outside the box? At the same time, are you held back from this by being too old to join the service, or having limited funds, only a little time, a 9-to-5 job and/or cold feet? Welcome to a new life!

Using only things you might find around the house (my one cavil about the book is that it assumes you're a homeowner, though renters and nomads might find it useful also) you too can join the ranks of the adventurers! Simply by taking tiny risks in your mundaine existence, you too can be living in a theme park, honing explorer and adventure skills, improving your relationships and people sense, getting in touch with your body, and much, much more! Ok, so now I sound like an infomercial. But this book does have a lot of fun things to do that get you up and out and becoming more engaged in your surroundings that could serve as baby steps towards bigger and better things, as well as making everyday life more interesting.

I'd check it out if I were you.

I've read a bunch of self-help books (100's at least) - and while many of them are good, most are focused on techniques, exercises, writing down your values, etc. That's great, but none of them have given me what this book has: the ability to go and play and be happy. And really, that's all I ever wanted out of those other self-help books.

David's book is amazing, because through his ideas, you understand that you can be happy now... in this moment... wherever you are. You can have adventure now. I've spent most of my life creating suffering - either through reliving the past or projecting into the future - and David's book finally turned on the switch. You can't live in the past or the future... you need to live NOW! And in understanding that, you can have so many adventures, so much fun and joy - that you'll finally realize that happiness, adventure, success, joy, etc. isn't in the future, it's NOW!

Best of all, if you get that, David's book holds more than 541 adventures. If you get the concept behind David's book, you'll discover that there are adventures everywhere in your life, regardless of your age, education, financial situation, relationship, etc. David has written an amazing book that I recommend to all of my fellow self-help "junkies" who want to stop doing so many "techniques" and start living a fun, adventurous life!

Read this book back in 1993 when I graduated from college. Wow! Just what I needed at that time in my life. It's a great book to use for direction on ones life, again, especially after college. However, it's great in general. I have given this book as gifts since 1993. From my siblings, to my best friends, and my students who have graduated. I like this book since many of the self-help authors only have about a chapter worth of good material. Og Mandino picked out his favorite chapters from his favorite books.

A Great Clarifier for the Confused

Dr. Crane has written a wonderful how-to book for those of us who can get bogged down along the Cosmic Highway. Not everyone is instantly successful with the philosophies and techniques of the Nevilles and Joseph Murphies. Making it all work can be a little more complex than they and their followers let on in the success stories found in their books. Well, thanks to Dr. Crane's explanations, lights begin to come on and you start to "get it" a little more successfully, thereby no longer feeling like a spiritual dufus. The metaphor of "ordering from the cosmic kitchen" is great and right on the mark: We learn how to choose from our personal menus and (by golly) get what we ordered! This is a very worthy book. It's a great beginner book on this subject and a great helping hand for non-beginners when they find themselves a bit stuck and not knowing why.

This book is so easy to use and easy to read. It uses plain English to explain how to make your Cosmic Order, and also explains what you can do if the Cosmic Chef dishes up a slighly different recipe.
You can read this book in one day, and have your orders written up and sent off in the same day.
This works...be careful what you wish for!

The Awesome Power of Affirmations Revealed

Patricia J Crane, has created the best guide on how to achieve any goal using affirmations that I have ever seen.

Patricia has a rare and unique talent of taking abstract ideas and bringing them down to earth so that anyone can use them to get what they want. She illustrates her techniques in clear terms...leaving you with no room for doubt.

As you already know, and most probably heard at some point in your life, that what we feed our minds becomes our reality. We can convince ourselves practically anything with enough verbal repletion of affirmations.

However how many of us actually act upon this? How many of us use this awesome power? And even when we do use this powerful technique, are we using it correctly?

For example if you want to quit your job because you can't stand it anymore, you should not say "I want to quit my job", because that is focusing on the negative. Rather you should state. "I look forward to successfully securing myself a position at another firm, in a job that I love!"

Also another powerful idea that is often overlooked that you got to be patient. As Wayne Dyer teaches: "Infinite patience produces immediate results."

The bottom line is, we can submit any of our heart deepest desires to our Cosmic Chef ("our higher power") and He will process and answer all of our requests.

If you are unhappy with your life (which means your are producing negative results) its because at some level you are feeding this order into the cosmic chef. If your fear of not achieving your goal is greater and your faith of achieving it, then the winner will be the stronger emotion. It's that simple.

I really enjoyed this book and my only complaint is that it is too short. The author provides several affirmations and a framework for developing your own personal affirmations based upon what you want to accomplish. I finished the book 2 weeks ago and haven't had any earth shattering experiences, but I have felt a higher sense of well-being. Although the book can be finished quickly, it's format is such that you can pick it up later and find something useful. I wrote some of the affirmations on 3x5 cards that I use as bookmarks, just to remind me to stay positive.

Giuditta has provided us with a wonderful gift by writing 'Painless Childbirth: An Empowering Journey Through Pregnancy and Birth'.

Simultaneously practical and spiritual, she guides us to access our inner wisdom and own our pregnancy and birth journeys. I love her exercises, stories and the lists of questions she provides so that women can communicate with professionals from a place of informed co-creation.

Giuditta is acutely aware of the importance of our feelings and memories and how we can work with them to move forward into greater awareness, connection with our bodies and harmony with our babies....so that painless childbirth can be our reality too.

She shares beautifully, month by month, what is going on with your baby and how you can consciously support yourself and this unique new being growing inside you now.

Giuditta's insight and perspective as shared in this book is an excellent resource and support for mum, dad and baby. Painless childbirth is your birth right!

When Chakras and Childbirth Unite

(Note: This review was written by my wife Laura...)

Written by a doula, this book uses the chakra system as its basis for healing through the next nine months and beyond. She noticed that each month of pregnancy corresponds with a chakra as the embryo/fetus learns the vital lessons that the corresponding chakra invites.

For example, the first month is associated with the first (root) chakra in which the embryo learns if it feels wanted and safe in its physical environment. This phenomenal book guides you through each month/chakra so that you can heal and grow right along with your baby. Most of us have residual pain and baggage from our own time spent in utero, so by using her guided techniques and visualizations you have the opportunity to heal each relevant chakra.

By learning about and healing each chakra, we open ourselves to the possibility of creating an ecstatic, painless birthing experience. This is the goal of the book, but there are, of course, many other long-term benefits to healing and opening ourselves up to divine energy.

PAINLESS CHILDBIRTH: AN EMPOWERING JOURNEY THROUGH PREGNANCY AND BIRTH is a pick family libraries will want: it explores the relationship between the nine months of fetal development in the womb and nine basic human rights, advising mothers to participate in both creation and their own rights to a painless childbirth on their own terms. From hospital births and birthing center differences to obtaining peace from pain, PAINLESS CHILDBIRTH blends case history examples with advice and tips.

With my previous pregnancies I have ordered and read quite some books on natural childbirth and methods to deal with pain; and some stories about painless, even extatic births! This book is a unique guide on how to prepare oneself for a painless and pleasurable birth. It offers a lot of information, advice and true stories, but the big part of the job is to be done by the user. There is really a lot a mother can do if she wants to. And several months seem enoughf time to do it. I have recomended the book to all my pregnant coworkers, frinds and the mothers attending classes with me. Some of them are truelly ecxited; other wonder where to start from; but all of them grasp the consept that birth is not a punishment and hence does not need to be painfull. For some of us the idea that it can be pleasurable seems as natural as love itsels, for others it requires a lot of time and effort, somethimes with the help of proffesionals as therapists, natural healers and dulas. There is one quote from this book I would like to share: According to statistics, about 1 % of womem do not experience any pain during childbirth. With 4 milion birthing women per year in the US it means that 40,000 mothers do not experince pain! If 40,000 women can do, I can do it as well; anyone can do it!!!

This is so much more than a book; each time I read even a few pages I immediately see my life from a more expanded perspective, and also FEEL more expanded within. H.H. Sai Maa offers profound spiritual truths and also, perhaps more importantly, practical advice for living those truths in your daily life (e.g., in your relationships).

Reading even a few pages a day and applying even a fraction of what you read to your life can completely transform your concept of yourself, your relationships and how you live your life from moment-to-moment.

These teachings are simple to understand and easy to read, yet the messages are so profound that I've had to take the book page by page- and sometimes paragraph by paragraph- to let the message sink in. This is not a book you'll want to rush through.

Sai Maa's website - HumanityInUnity.org - has lots of great wisdoms as well.
