I am beginning a Boot Camp workout class and thought this book might help me get started. The only difference between this and a regular workout is it's done outdoors. Maybe for beginners it might be good but I was insulted by the video - didn't even show any of the cardio drills mentioned in the book. If you're an experienced exerciser, this is not the book for you.

Book was okay!

The book was okay, but I was side track my all the typos the author made. He/she could not spell words like analyze (which was spelled analyse), Hair loss (which was spelled hair loose), losing (which was spelled loosing, Estrogen (which was spelled ostrogen the entire book), non existent (which was spelled none existent), etc.... It was just so bizarre. You would think when publishing a book, you would at least hire a proof reader before finalizing.

The content of this booklet was mostly folk remedies and common sense. As a person with an enlarged prostate, there was nothing new of value to me.

This book is remarkable as it is written by a professional yet is grossly stereotypical, makes no concession to cultural differences, fails to reference sweeping statements and is very judgemental. In contrast to many other works in this field, this one stands out for its blinkered approach.

Dated and Boring
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2007-06-22
I think a lot of people may take offense to the bombastic title. There have been several other diseases in Europe that killed more people than AIDS has: smallpox, influenza, syphilis, etc. Though any AIDS-related death is tragic anywhere, Western Europe has one of the lowest HIV infections rates of anywhere in the world. If it's a "plague" in that region, what would one say about Southern Africa or Southeastern Asia where the numbers and percentages are much higher.

On the one hand, cross-country comparisons help us think beyond our borders and probably take awhile to amass. Still. this book got really boring really quickly. Page after page of "this country did this, but that country did that" becomes irritating after awhile.

Finally, this book is dated. It was published before HIV medicines greatly improved in 1996. It was published before the EU formed and migration across Europe greatly increased. In a way, it was published as Eastern Europe was abandoning Communism and becoming more engaged with Western Europe. Today it would be silly, and possibly offensive, to discuss HIV in Western Europe without thinking about its relation to Eastern Europe.

good idea, bad writing
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.

this book is an extremely poorly written book with a good idea. It is extremely brief: do not expect to learn much about PE. The author writes out of his own (apparently successful) experience in using a series of masturbation and other exercises to treat his own PE. The idea is good, and I image men with PE would be helped by this, but it is extremely poorly written. Grammatical and word-use errors abound and are very distracting from the point the author is trying to make. It appears to have been self-published, without the aid of an editor.

This book is not only a joke... but dangerous

Rated at a one only because there was no zero!

This book takes a very simplistic view of the problem of "male menopause". Strictly an FDA / AMA / Drug Industry approach. One finds no mention of the serious problem of estrogen dominance. One finds that the natural hormone DHEA / DHEA(S) is treated as if it is a poison. Very little mention is made of the impact that various hormonal systems have on each other. Very outdated.

A much, much better basic book would be Eugene Shippen's "Testosterone Syndrome". What is unfortunate is that most endocrinologists and primary care physicians also take the view put forward in this book (garbage) over the much more comprehensive and intelligent position put forth by Dr. Shippen.

You can find more information by visiting the web sites of major hospitals such as Mout Sinai, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Johns Hopkins etc. and then looking at the expertise of each doctor. Since I am in NJ those were the most convient yet my final choice was Hackensack University Medical center because of the procedure I chose and the skill of the surgeon which was equivalent to the one at Mount Sinai.
