Bruce Lindon is a licensed marriage and family therapist who draws upon his years of experience and expertise to provide men
with insights into the emotional challenges confronting present-day dads in Finding Time For Fatherhood. With text ideal for
the non-specialist general reader, each chapter is hallmarked with questions at the end to provide the reader with a chance
to consider personal experiences and discuss the issues raised with their spouse, partner, or other dads. Finding Time For
Fatherhood is a valued and much appreciated contribution to the growing library of parenting books in general, and male parenting
in particular.
A pedantic diatribe of thoughtless conjecture.

I have no idea what this man is talking about. His approach to fatherhood is so archaic he makes the staunchest 1950s conservative
look like a member of the anarchist liberation front. It's obvious Dr. Linton's writing stems from an attempt to justify
his own shortcomings as a father. A dismal read even for the 50 cent bin at the used book store.

This book contains several good points to keep in mind as you shop for your next purchase. I am aware that there are several
large volumes on the subject, but I want to read something that I can remember and not something that I have to lug to the
store with me. This is a decent book.
This book is fine, but there is much better

This books is not as helpful or convincing in its presentation as the classic work in this field, Molloy's New Dress For Success,
although this is shorter and perhaps easier to read. The author also lost some credibility with me when she suggested that
"Mountblanc" is the top-end pen to own(the brand is spelled "Montblanc"). Molloy takes a much more empirical, research-based
approach to the study of clothing and its effect on others. Although his work is now a bit dated, this book is not much more
recent.

While examining a very important topic - gay men in their middle years - I found the book very problematic. For one, the men
are all middle-class professionals, and with the exception of a couple tokenistic men of color, are all glaringly white. Furthermore,
with the exception of one hiv narrative, there are no other essays written by disabled men. Moreover, all the essays were
boringly apolitical. Where are the voices of gay middle-aged men in the radical left, say, perhaps some veterans from ACT
UP or Queer Nation? It's this lack of discussion of race, class, disability and politics that makes this book so shallow.
On the cover is a picture of a white, middle-class professional in a shirt and tie representing aparrently all middle-aged
gay men. What's wrong with this picture?

The diverse experiences of the fifteen men who share their stories in this book provide an intriguing and helpful look at
what it means to be gay and in midlife. There are only a few books on this subject (Kooden's Golden Men and Isensee's Are
You Ready), each of which provides its own unique contribution to this area. I would highly recommend this book as well as
the other two.

If you are young, fashion-oriented, and don't work in a professional or conservative industry, this book isn't bad. If you're
over 30, looking to move up the corporate ladder, or an Alpha Male, STAY AWAY from this book.
If you're a Man and you really want to learn how to dress, visit the most exclusive and elegant men's clothing shops in your town. Don't go to the mall. Minimize the visits to stores that sell both men's and women's clothing. You'll get similar advice from the owners of these stores. Go to plays and symphonies and you'll see how the affluent crowd dresses. The rules for successful dressing have very little to do with "fashion". Shop by yourself and leave the wife or girlfriend or both behind. It doesn't matter whether they like it or not. You want to dress like a Man. I can spot men who let their women dress them a mile away. You can do far better than this book.

This is the best prostate book for patients who have recently been diagnosed with enlarged prostate or prostate cancer of
any stage. The descriptions of treatment options and physiology coupled with cogent questions for your doctor and helpful
advice provide a sure fire means of clearing up a very murky and scary situation very quickly. The manner of writing is easy
to follow and a delight to read. This is the one book I would recommend for any prostate patient who has to limit himself
to just one book. It is indispensable to making an informed decision for treatment

Dr. Carruthers has described the "male Menopause" in terms that all can understand and in a humorous and entertaining style..The
history of testosterone is fascinating, but the benefits of hormone replacement for correction of the symptoms of the deficiency
is even more exciting. This book together with the recent book,"Testosterone Syndrome", are the best overall works on the
subject of the "Male Menopause" yet written. They provide a comprehensive overview of the critical health benefits of testosterone
treatmrnts.

This is a very introductory discussion of Andropause. If this topic is new to the reader, it provides overview information.
However, it does not go into depth and does not provide new information about dealing with the symptoms of andropause. Consequently,
I didn't find the book very helpful.

This short treatise on the causes of and remedies for thinning hair ranks at the top of my list of all-time worthless and
pretentious bunk. In short, the author holds that thinning hair is caused by combing your locks the wrong way. Too much and
in the wrong direction, and it falls out. Forget about other causes: like malnutrition, emotional stress, hormonal imbalance,
heredity, environmental toxicity, aging, etc. Just brush it backwards and watch your sink fill with loose hairs. Don't waste
your time and money on this bald and toothless argument wearing a false and flowery academic wig.

I was deeply offended by this book. As a gay man himelf, Mr. Osbourne can be likened to a Jew being in denial of the Holocaust.
How on earth can he claim that most gay men who use meth are in control of their usage? Does he use himself? Does he go to
nightclubs and 'circuit parties'? Does he spend the rest of his time chained to his computer looking for his next 'trick'?
A recent online poll by The Advocate, with over 1000 respondents, showed that 75% of the gay community say that meth is a
non-controllable, non-recreational drug. Denial has already damaged this community enough without the likes of Osbourne using
his journalistic credentials to add to the damage. It was a conspiracy of denial that allowed crystal meth to spread so extensively
in the first place due to a genuine fear that prevailed of speaking out against it. Instead, it took some brave souls to stand
up and start the process of stigmatization, a process which Osbourne criticizes in his quest to make a fast buck out of the
mass suffering of his own community. The word traitor springs to mind here.
A thoroughly-researched, hard-hitting work of journalism

Osborne, in Suicide Tuesday, ventures into controversial territory: the behavior of gay men in relation to HIV-transmission,
the correlation between that and crystal meth use, and the various levels of media response to both. I found this book both
an engaging and enlightening read. Of particular interest are Osborne's insights into the national media's tendency to latch
onto anything that might be sensationalized into hysteria, as well as the tendency of factions of the gay community to do
the same. Part of his message is that these two tendencies are off-target and harmful: hysteria rarely - if ever - leads
to solutions.
This author very carefully documents his sources and, as a result, presents a well-informed, compelling case. The point here is that, while crystal meth is clearly a very dangerous drug, embracing the tempting and convenient media hysteria surrounding it, and hysterias such as the strand of "super"-HIV, are only distracting the gay community from finding productive ways to address its problems.
Suicide Tuesday is about crystal meth use within the gay community, but it's also about the history of the gay community and its response to the AIDS crisis over the past twenty-five years. It's an important book, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

The above reviewer doesn't like the book because he doesn't like what the author concludes can or can't be done to boost testosterone.
I like this book for that reason-- because it's honest and accurate medical information. Why read a book just because you
like what it's saying, even if the information is inaccurate? This book is clear and informative.

The book doesn't paint a pretty picture if you want to raise your testosterone level. He sights quite a few studies that
according to the author do nothing to raise your tes level. Other books on this subject find studies that do do things for
your tes level and it seems this author IS talking about the same studies as the other books. His favorite saying about these
studies is "no conclusive proof".
Personally, I didn't read this book to basically have the only recommendation to do three types of workout and that will cure my problem. Fact is that I already do two types of his recommended workouts and really don't feel that adding the third will do that much.
There is other much more positive reads out there.

Studying Gay Men of Color

Too often, biased people want to insist that all the gays are white and all the people of color are straight. Too often,
any study of gays focuses on New York City and San Francisco, but nowhere else. Too often, "people of color" focuses on Blacks
only, or Blacks and Latinos only. This study is a nice retreat from those problems. It is a multi-city study. It speaks
of Blacks, Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans.
I'm glad it exists, but it is just a dry policy study. The book has no photos and is just a power point lecture put in text form.
Too many, this also feels terribly dated. While the study strongly emphasizes that many men who kick it with men don't identify as gay or bisexual, it never uses the new term "the down low." Further, I think this study was printed before more effective AIDS drugs called HAART therapy were produced. Luckily, I think this study has an awesome update in the studies compiled in the book by Sana Loue.
