Life saver for Neurology Residents
Helpful Votes: 11 out of 11 total.

I do not have enough words to describe the value of this book especially for Neurology residents. The book is first divided into different neurological categories. In each category the topics that have been addressed are commonly seen cases. The differential diagnosis is presented in most systematic manner with the possible causes you as a neurologist cannot afford to miss.Great book that every Neurology resident must carry in their pockets. It has been life saver for me in number of clinical discussions especially when it comes to generating neurological differntial diagnosis in 'Case Management' conferences and bed side case evaluation.

I'm a first year vet student and was guided to buy this book to better understand pathophysiology of disease. It has been excellent! I love this book. Only a few of us in my class have it, as its not easy to find. The text is easy to read compared to some and has clear, concise, chapters on every anatomical concept.(doesn't have a huge section on exotics, though). Buy this! You won't be disappointed.

Diseases of the Sinuses: Short Review
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2001-01-27
This book is a most up to date review of Sinusitis by the pioneers in the field. Chapters on Gross & radiographic Anatomy are innovative, elaborate and very well illustrated. Genetics, physiology and pathophysiology, particularly of sinus polyposis, were well covered. A good foundation and methodology was laid for the controversial subject on staging of sinusitis. The chapter on the concepts and surgical indications of FESS has added valuable depth and focus to the surgical management by a master in the field. Complications of FESS were accompanied by usefull guidlines on their prevention and managemnet, including additional highlights on surgical technique, legal and ethical considerations. The chapter on revision ESS for recurrent sinusitis is a new and usefull addition. More over the latest in technology e.g Image guided FESS and instrumentation were comfortably laid out. On the other hand, alternative and more extensive external approaches to sinus diseases were well exhibited by their pioneers. A most interesting feature is the included CD-ROM which in additon to providing capabilities like search and note taking, is a second bonus copy of the book to keep in my office.

This textbbok covers in great detail an area of the body which receives little attention, however, is an area where much pathology is found. Heel and ankle pain is very prevalent in the general population and even more so in the athletic or fitness-driven cohort. This text provides excellent information on heel and rearfoot disorders particularly from the diagnostic and treatment options avaliable to the clinician.

Dr. Jack Wilson, the course director of the Univ of Tennessee College of Medicine Gross Anatomy class is an excellent teacher, and this book is an extension of his teaching skills. All the major anatomical landmarks are presented in bold type so that you can recognize them quickly and your dissection can be accomplished quicker. This book is also useful outside the lab as a study guide for gross anatomy exams.

Novel about Crohn's and Surgery
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 1997-07-04
This is the story of a woman who underwent a minimum of 10 surgeries for a severe case of Crohn's. It's very realistic and it deals a lot with the psychological and social aspects of IBD. It was nominated for the Governor-General's Award in Canada and is fast becoming a favorite among people with IBD that have seen surgery a time or two
