Peek behind a professional TCM healer

I am in the last year of my 4-year TCM School. I found this book to be very helpful in clearly illustrating in color pictures, simple explanations and clear diagrams what I other books talk about only theoretically. <br />The book is organized by dedicating a chapter for each Zhang organ. In each case a very clear color picture of the tongue is displayed together with the tongue diagnosis. I usually tried to diagnose the tongue myself and then compare my diagnosis with the book diagnosis. <br />The details of the case are then presented together with a flow diagram explaining how the different patterns interact with each other. A very detailed explanation is provided with references to other TCM sources. The case is concluded with treatment principle, point selection and herbal formulas. Sometime the author seems to know exactly why are the reasons for each of the symptoms presented. This seems to me a bit exaggerated but still interesting. <br />I haven't encountered a TCM book with such a clear presentation. A joy to read! <br />This second volume of Atlas of Chinese Tongue Diagnosis works seamlessly with the first to facilitate the connection between the theory of tongue diagnosis and the reality of practice in the clinic. As in the first volume, the case histories and related photographs are organized around the various disharmonies of the organs. Here, however, the tongue signs are evaluated in the broader context of the other symptoms and clinical findings -- including the vitality and constitution of the patient -- to reveal the actual process of diagnosis and formulation of a treatment strategy in each case. This provides a true picture of how tongue diagnosis is integrated into the whole of diagnosis and treatment. <P>Altogether, one-hundred and ten individual case histories are considered. By analyzing several different case histories related to a particular organ system, the diagnostic procedures and treatment strategies become clearer and more realistic to the student and practitioner. <P>The analysis of these case histories is based on nearly twenty-five years of clinical practice, and reflects the author’s approach to learning: "I believe in the importance of a discussion that clearly narrates the steps used to formulate treatment strategies, and that allows practitioners to share their findings. A great book to read while considering plastic surgery with Dr. Y

I read this book after consulting with Dr. Yaremchuk as a patient. After looking through the pictures in here, it became pretty apparent that he's done some amazing things for people - both reconstructive and cosmetic. I think this book is pretty understandable for pepole who do not have an MD or FACS after their names. Anyone interested in a bit more education about what is going to happen during facial implant surgery should check it out. It's worth the price - especially if you are considering multiple procedures or deciding between doctors or materials (silicone vs. porex vs. fat - Dr. Y will only use porex and he discusses the issue a bit here.) The pictures and illustrations are excellent. The book is rather concise, so I suppose I would need to go to med school to get all of the details, but it gave me about 80% of what I wanted to know. You'll also get a really good understanding of what to expect during your surgery and what your aesthetic outcome will be like. You can see Dr. Y's style here - generally it's not overly exaggerated, very natural, and he creates a better looking version of you...not a scary attempt to make you someone else. Luckily, his aesthetic sense is on the same wavelength as my own, but since everyone has their own opinions on what is attractive - this book will help you see his aesthetic sense. This book was also useful post-operatively when I thought I had a problem with an implant (I didn't - it was still healing) but I could communicate precisely what I thought the issue was. I suppose the main audience for this is surgeons but patients will definitely benefit from reading it whether you have surgery with him or not.
