Wonderful. I refer to this cookbook when planning menus

The recipes in this book are easy to follow. The results are yummy. The ingredients are not exotic or hard to find. The pictures only add to the book.

This is a basic cookbook for preparing meals using pasta. I have tried many of the recipes in this book and not one has failed me yet. Although it says these recipes are light, I don't find them difficult or time consuming to cook (as much low fat cooking is.) Also, I don't notice a lack of taste.

I plan each of my meals in advance so that I have the correct ingredients on hand. This is one cookbook that I constantly refer to for meal planning. If you can get your hands on this cookbook, I would suggest that you grab the opportunity.

EXCELLENCE: TRY AND BE CONVINCED

With expertly edited sections that include: anatomy, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, and behavioural sciences, "Rypin's Basic Sciences Review" has everything medical and paramedical students need in order to build solid foundation in their studies. The book is very complete. It is elaborately illustrated; and offers explicit information on each of its broad sections. Also, useful self-test questions, which help readers evaluate their comprehension is available on both the text and its accompanied CD-ROM.
The quality of the information this book presents is hard to rival. Thus, it surprises me that potential buyers have continued to underrate it.

A FINE REVISIONAL COMPENDIUM
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2003-01-28
Like the "Rypin's Basic Sciences Review", this "Rypin's Clinical Sciences Review" is one book that I would describe as being near perfect.
It boasts of an extended coverage which include: internal medicine, surgery, psychiatry, paediatrics, epidermiology, and obstetrics and gynaecology.
The information in this revisional text are very concise. No extensive details: just all that students would need for quick revisions. Still, each chapter received generous illustrations. In a nutshell, this is the textbook to purchase if you are a medical student who need a single-volume revisional compendium. The attached questions and answers CD-ROM, which comes with this book provides the necessary parameter for self-evaluation.

Illustrates the key points of the chapters. Questions are written by the authors, and thus this book mirrors the chapters. It also helps crystallize the information into key points, and highlights areas that need to be revisited, before boards or ABSITE. Probably would be helpful with the new 18th edition, as many of the chapters have changed little.

Safe As Houses?: Ill-Health and Electro-Stress in the Home

This is an outstanding book!

This is an outstanding book!

David Cowan, a dowser and practitioner specialising in aiding recovery from geopathic stress (illness caused by unhealthy energies emanating from the earth and artificial electromagnetic equipment) has succinctly recounted his experiences into a manual par excellence; not only an explanation of the hows and whys of geopathic stress, but also how everyone can easily combat problems associated with it.

Of the many books I have read on ley lines and geopathic phenomena, none are clearer, nor as insightful as this. Using his vast experience, Cowan describes the many types of lines, waves and spirals which are detectable with both scientific and dowsing equipment; how they are generated in nature, what they `look' like and why, as well as showing how the layperson as well as advanced practitioner and scientist can become closely associated with them to the point of being able to create and manipulate them for the benefit of oneself and others.

This is a true glimpse into the knowledge of the ancient megalithic builders. A tradition now largely lost to the modern world, except through people such as Cowan, Feng Shui practitioners and modern mystics.

Whilst many scientifically verifiable phenomena are discussed in this book, so are so-called paranormal events such as sick-buildings, spirit or entity phenomena, demons etc. All dealt with in a clear and easily understood way as relating to the various effects of living in areas with unhealthy spirals of energy. Much of the mysticism is removed from such phenomena, thereby laying down a challenge for orthodox science to include such things within its remit.

Rodney Girdlestone, a chemical engineer, naturopath and specialist in geopathic stress, has written clearly and comprehensively on the many hazards which surround us both in the home and in the environment from electromagnetic sources such as electric pylons, house electric circuits and appliances, as well as the multitude of EM signals such as microwaves and radio waves which are and are increasingly presenting major and minor health hazards to everyone alive today.

Not only are many common diseases found to be associated with unhealthy energy streams and spirals, such as cancers, allergies, Alzheimer's Disease, Chronic Fatigue, ME etc., but they are also simply addressed using the various methods given in the book.

Cowan's work is further expanded in his follow-up book, Ancient Energies of the Earth (with Anne Silk - a professional optician with an holistic interest in the welfare of her patients, here specialising in natural energy phenomena) . In which, he focuses on the ley line system deliberately manipulated by the megalithic builders of previous millennia. Having walked and dowsed thousands of miles over Scotland for many years, he has directly mapped and interpreted various ley systems and energies emanating from natural environmental, as well as man-made structures and shown clearly how they interact and affect the health and mentality of people and animals. From strange lights, to missing time, crop circles and ghostly apparitions, much becomes clear as to the probable mechanism which so many others have speculated to explain. The result of which is an intimate understanding of the (conventionally) mysterious minds of those who built the stone circles, ring and cup marks and old straight tracks in ancient times.

This latter book is also an absolute classic. The best book by far I have yet seen on earth energies. It is such a shame that the publishers decided to stop printing it after the initial short print run. Hopefully, Cowan will find a more receptive outlet for his outstanding and immensely valuable work.

Thanks David!

Did you know that the cure in 1897 for the bite of rabid dog was to "ply with enough whiskey to induce sleep"?

This volume covers a wide scope of health related topics, including home remedies, the care of the sick, bathing and personal hygiene, puberty and reproduction, women's health issues and increasing longevity.

Originally published in 1897 as a home medical reference for the common people, you will find the topics amusing and sometimes still relevant for today's world.

This book is a must for writers, historians, genealogists, and just plain ordinary people! A fascinating read!!

This is a book with deals with the trauma of Alzheimer's. With very gentle humor and delightful artwork, Tom Batiuk gives hope and comfort to all who deal with this dreaded disease, both as victims and as caregivers. I applaud his efforts in bringing this subject "mainline" in a caring , informative manner.
