Goodbye God, We're Going to Texas: A Search for Health and Happiness is the biography of a truly vibrant women, whose life spanned a successful career, dedication to her Christian religion, survival in the lean years of the Great Depression, activism in her community, and more. Though she never married, family was quintessential to her, as were neighbors and friends. Alzheimer's disease marked the final chapter of life, but that far from defines the whole of her contribution. Her biography is unique in that each chapter also makes note of a different health care issue, from the specter of tuberculosis that loomed over her early years to her work in physical therapy. Highly recommended.

Kevin Price's "Ramblings" is one of those books that will have you smiling throughout. Although you don't need to have twins to enjoy it, I can't help but feel that this book should be part of every care package new parents of twins receive when at the hospital. It will help to provide a little levity before entering one of life's most stressful challenges, and give both parents something light to read during the many sleepless nights ahead.

This is a very practical guide for social workers in this field of practice. It explains, in clear language, everything from the regulatory aspects of social work in a nursing home to appropriate roles and functions. As a former nursing home social worker (now researcher/ educator), I would consider this a "must have" for those in the field.

This book is a treasure. I first found it in my high school library...10 years later I've been searching for it and finally found it here.
Ayer's tone is neat and whimsical. If you ever wanted to know what beauty regimens where like in the turn of the century, you'll get a superb idea through this book.
This is a charming addition to any beauty professional's library, along with historical enthusiasts and writers of romance novels.
She not only gives advice on beauty, health, and deportment, but also includes interesting little stories demonstrating WHY her advice is important. After 10 years, I still remember some of the stories I read in this book.
Of course, a lot of the information is out of date...especially the skin care. You shouldn't really look to this book for applicable advice for today's woman, but rather an intersting bird's eye view of what our mother's mothers did to keep up their appearances.
A fascinating read!

This text is a one stop shop for those responders who want to know what HAZMAT is really about. Anyone interested in furthering their abilities and understanding of Hazardous Chemicals needs this book. It is not too technical for those few who think you can become too technical when responding to emergencies, but opens the door for those of us, who take our work seriously.

After reading this book, I, for the first time, had confidence in my own inherent healing power! The authors do a fabulous job explaining the various options available to deal with many common illnesses. In great detail, they describe how to use a variety of alternative remedies, so that you are empowered to actually try them. Better still, they have created a healing kit, which can be purchased, so you have all the basic remedies you need to treat your families most common ailments. The section called Supporting the Healing Process is extremely powerful! Here the authors discuss the importance of the caregiver and the principles of care for deeper healing, including: caring for the senses, nutrition, fluids, warmth, rest, baths, touch, and healing objects. A simple , well organized and inspiring book. Consider reading this to raise your own consciousness about health and healing.
